How about putting the "Mystery Chutney" recipe on here? Then we can all have a go and maybe a "Mystery Chutney" evening together....

Carrots and Bananas, what's your rant for the day?
on 2010-09-10 22:41:39
I did dog walking before finishing for the summer, and it was good to get a bit of money for it and meet cute dogs, but volunteering is nice because you can pick and choose when you want to do it! That website is brilliant Kate, thanks for that!

I do so love that statue of Bodicia and her chariot. I can remember being mesmerised by it as a small child when we used to visit London fairly regularly (relatives lived close by). Saint Paul's. I have been right to the top and walked round that little pergula thing on top! 'Elf & Safey won't let you go up there now.

Carrots and Bananas, what's your rant for the day?
on 2010-09-10 22:01:30
Good idea NN! What about this charity? http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/volunteers.html There's nothing for Stoke at the moment, but there might be at some point - don't know if they keep a list. If none of the usual charities want help, why not contact some of the elderly care ones and see if they have anyone who'd like their dog walked. I saw a car with a sticker in the window for www.walkthedogs.co.uk. I thought it would be a national thing but its a local dog walking / pet care business. They have lots of info on their site for prices and insurance and services etc. Put a card in the local papershop offering to walk a dog for anyone who can't manage it themselves.

Mine eat them Kate. Daisy makes me feel sick as she sort of sucks on them with the legs either side of her muzzle like extra whiskers she makes a sort of mnack mnack noise as she smacks her lips around them. She eats just about anything. Kimmi doesnt bother with them as he also fgot a spider and web round his face in the garden when he was a kitten he panicked as well.

Ha ha I used to say that as well. I only take out what I can cram in with my camera and pockets now. When I retired I said thats it and took my watch off and stuck it in a draw and discarded my handbag and I try to leave my mobile at home. I dont miss any of it.

That's horrific NN! I would've been screaming too! I recall my other cat, Foggy, once 'tasting' one and it attached itself to her face and she went into a panic trying to get it off! Maybe that's why she doesn't chase them any more!

Ha ha ha thats funny. I have to get G/North to get them out for me if the cats don't sort them out. We had a huge one in the bath one night and I showed it to Sootz. He was real chuffed to have a new toy. He came to see me in bed about ten minutes or so later and the spider was perched on his shoulders holding on to his fur. Cripes I was out of that bed and squarking like no ones business. Scared poor Sootz witless he shot off the bed and scooted off with the spider still hanging on for grim death. I had to get G/North to check Sootz out before I could bear to have him near me in case he still had the spider attatched to him !!!

Oh dear, sounds like they're invading!!! It was one of those horrible brown ones with eyes on stalks and big thick legs. Emmett never kills them, she just spots them and runs over for a closer look. She's 15 now, but spotted it from about 25/30 feet away, running across a dark wooden floor in the dark hallway (well, Karndean but it looks like wood!) so nothing wrong with her eyes.

Its not the equipment, its how you use it! I've tried to take photos with hubby's camera (an expensive one) but they come out just as bad as the ones I take with my little pocket size cannon! Your photos are amazing - I love the Big Ben one, and just look at the clouds behind St Pauls in the last one!

Ohh kate reading that made me lift my legs up off the floor. We had a huge one run across the carpet last night. I swear blind it was a racing spider it went so fast. The cats just ignored it little sods they usually deal with them for me. I just can not do spiders very well.

Wow, your hair has really grown Red! I hadn't thought of a rag doll - their fur is lovely and yes, just like a birman. My cat found me a HUGE spider this morning. I had to get it out the front door on my own using the phone book. I think I might've killed it as it sat rolled up for an hour, which made me feel bad, but hubby was home at lunchtime and said it'd gone, so it either recovered or a bird had it.

I hope so although they were a tad upset when the others went to bed and they were unable to follow. I don't want to mix them together just yet as Baby Blue is a lot younger and her beak is a bit to short to be able to peck back. I saw Goldie give her a good peck this afternoon through the netting. I will see how they go after a few more days.

The Classic car show will be real nice and as you say it is supposed to be the best day. It sounds as if you are going to be just as busy this weekend as you were during the week. Grandad North had a few days off so we have been out and about a bit. He is back to work now though until Tuesday.
