That's terrible, Kate; I often boggle at what people post - and at what they deem interesting enough to tell the world!

It's really awful the effect it has on kids. My granddaughter is in trouble for things she's been posting in social media. She's put herself at risk. I'm glad it wasn't around when my kids were growing up.

FB is the only way I can keep track of some of my family. Love hencam, I hope neil doesn't take it down. I can't remember the last time I was able to see the chickens..it's always offline.

Most certainly we cannot abandon Hen cam, The thought behind it is more of a secure safe guard where we can all be together just in case... as it would be such a shame if we all lost touch after all these years. I love my face book for the way it allows me to keep in touch with all my family and friends at the same time. Used properly, sensibly with the right security I find it to be a really good tool.

I really don't like facebook for the terrible things that it seems to do to kids and the hold it has over them.

I love Hencam - it's my favourite way of keeping in touch with people and while Neil is happy to keep it going I'm happy to keep coming along! I try to avoid prolific FB posters - are you prolific Diane?!!!

But we mustn't abandon Hencam!

Posted by DianeonWhidbey in Post Yer Pics! on 2019-02-10 18:36:37
On the Facebook topic, first please please PLEASE add me Kate. I have wanted that connection with you for years. It is amazing that Neil has been able to keep Hencam going as long as he has. Also, I have an idea. If you want, I can set up a secret group on Facebook for hencam only. It is actually a very cool way to communicate. And no one will even no it exists but us. I think the function of being able to 'like' people's posts and comment directly under individual posts makes the day-to-day kind of talking better than forums can do. Also, dear Shobhna Dave is on Facebook too. I think Neil has an account too but I can't remember what name he uses...? And I am also spacing out on what name Red goes by. I am Diane Jhueck, Kate. ...

Yes, I signed on as a man with a false birthdate (they think I'm 108) and then forgot all my lies and created another one!

Posted by chief chicken in Post Yer Pics! on 2019-02-05 16:50:50
How can you see me. Lynn? I'm not under CC or my real name!

Posted by nanny north in Post Yer Pics! on 2019-02-05 14:38:57
You should try and add at least one of us Kate just in case, I will say its nice as none of us bother each other but we are there if we need each other you never know if you need to chat xxx Which reminds me has anyone heard as to how Red is? I so hope she is OK

Isnt it funny where some plants are determined to live. My friend just across the road from me has a beautiful peony that comes every year from a tiny crack in the ash -felt beside her fence. She has tried and tried to get it to come and bloom inside her garden to no avail. I have planted so many crocus in my garden since we have lived here the hens dug most of them up and ate them. They also dug up most of the daffodils to kill them, they are poisonous to hens apparently. We had very little snow and it didnt stick Kate. We are fairly lucky with the weather here. Jay is only thirty minutes away from us in Derby shire and they usuall have loads of snow there.

Posted by Kateb in watch this space on 2019-02-04 19:27:19
We didn't have any snow at all here in the Midlands. Must've skirted straight past us!

Posted by Kateb in Post Yer Pics! on 2019-02-04 19:23:38
Probably because I'm hopefully hidden!

We have a little group of purple crocus which self seeded (?) in a silly spot in a crack in the concrete just by the gate where they get hit by the gate every time we go through it. They got the snow (couple of inches) dumped on them as well, yet once the snow melted they still sit there cheerfully, little flowers open...I'd like to move them somewhere safer but if I did I expect they'd die.

I can see NN, CC, Red and Diane on Facebook, but can't find you Kate.

I love the pictures of the flowers, NN...I don't have anything blooming yet. We have had a strange Winter this year.

We only had snow that didn't settle so were very lucky, Good frosts a bit of freezing fog but plenty of sunshine. How did you all fare?

1840's papers that is so interesting I love coming across little finds like that. Our garden was just grass with a few paving stones here and there when we moved in. We also had 40foot leylandii which G/N Jay and I managed to get down. They were awful and took all the lovely light out of the garden, Anyhow i digress what I wanted to tell you was I dug up all sorts of bits and bobs The weirdest being three black stone gnomes that were all burried heads down. They were are about a foot high. Mallory and I painted them up one year, nice bright colours whick has made them less scary. Oh I found a few little flowers blooming in the garden even though it has been so cold and frosty

That would be lovely CC! It won't be like that for my friend - she has no siblings and no children. It's sad that her family will end with her.

Lovely...my brother now lives in the house that was built for my parents the year I was born (1961)and I'd love to think it'd be only our family that ever lives in it!

Posted by Kateb in watch this space on 2019-01-29 18:38:21
There is so much history in some houses. My friend is the same age as me (54) and has lived in her house since she was a very small child. It was a new-build when they moved in, so has been her home for about 50 years. Not a lot compared to your friend's CC, but how great is that.

I do have facebook but rarely use it. I should try and find you all - like you say it's a good backup for if ever Neil cuts us off!

My friend found some 1840s newspaper lining a bit of the cupboard under the stairs. Mind you, the cottage dates to the 1300s!

Happy New Year to you Diane, where have you been all this time The date before your post is 2016 Ha ha xx

I agree Kate we are a real creative crew and there was CC saying I made her feel inadequate the bad girl that she is !!!

Posted by nanny north in Post Yer Pics! on 2019-01-29 15:25:52
Thank you Diane I have to post things on here as well as I don't think CC uses her face book and Kate I got a feeling she don't have one. I don't use mine so much nowadays but it is handy for keeping in touch with, I often think if this closes down it would be such a shame of we all lost touch

They do take a while to get used to Diane, not that I wear glasses but remember when G/N got his and manages to miss judge the parking at the airport and backed into the barrier Boy he was mad. Those glasses got called so many bad names Im surprised they didn't catch fire !! He is more than happy with them now though I know the sort of wallpaper you mean Kate but no it wasn't that this is just plain old paper. We just covered it over be something for someone else to find at a later date. Goodness knows what is hiding behind the cupboard. The is a big cupboard in the front bedroom its over the stair well. When I got to removing the paper in there, there must have been about six layers of different colours and patterns. The last layer was ...

I think we call them varifocals. I have them - hate them. But I don't want 2 lots of glasses, one for reading and one for distance so have to put up with them.

Ha ha!!!! It's still January at least!! Happy new year! Xx

I saw these cakes on your face book post. They are truly stunning. Immense talent.

I was trying to make up for being a bit late on that...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Sootz and Mickey are beautiful! Thank you for the photo. And (much further back in the thread) HEDGEHOGS!!!! They are adorable, NN. I got some new glasses about a week ago. Progressives. They are hard to adjust to. I can see distance well and have figured out where to look through them for most things. But looking at a computer or my phone? Exhausting. It's like looking through a fish bowl.

I never knew that CC - you're a mine of information!

Posted by Kateb in Where is everybody? on 2019-01-26 20:34:13
Yes I've seen some pictures of them CC but I didn't think they looked that great. Maybe they're better in real life! I'm working hard Lynn - about to start again now.

Posted by LynnW in watch this space on 2019-01-26 20:12:39
NN, that wall paper is so cool...did you cover it up again or take it out altogether?

Posted by LynnW in Where is everybody? on 2019-01-26 19:47:18
Kate, I hope you get blanket "5" done in time for the baby's birth.

Posted by chief chicken in watch this space on 2019-01-24 16:48:06

My friend who beads made covers for christmas baubles; like a mesh network thing with dangles...pretty! Unlike my description.

Posted by Kateb in watch this space on 2019-01-23 21:10:39
I recall seeing wallpaper like that when I was a child! Is it a bit 'spongy' and embossed to look like a tile?

latest Lottie vid... soon!
