A big welcome to a little pup!
on 2013-05-17 23:32:07
He was flying LOL! We absolutely broke Zoey today, we took her for a big walk down to the town centre, then around a park where there was a carnival and lots of people, then she met our friend and got very excited about that, then we walked back and played with her flirt pole too! She was shattered afterwards and slept for about four hours Kasper was a super star with our friend too; sat with his head resting on friend's lap, wagging his tail continuously, he just loves our friend - they both do! We had a great night Oh, and today on her walk Zoey recalled from a person and their dog perfectly! Way to go Zoey

Shobhna, this is so wonderful, a lovely state to reach. If only every one could be in that state of mind, what a better world it would be. Now what has brought about this beautiful condition? You've had a rough time in the past but got your nose down and immersed yourself in achieving new targets. So busy, you lost touch with us on Hencam! We have thought about you and now here you are!

on 2013-05-16 08:17:36
I'm here and thank you to everyone for all your good wishes. I'm sorry I don't log on so often these days and I will make sure I stay in touch. Had a superb day on 8 may. Lots of grape juice was drunk. Big party planned for next month. I have a lovely wine-bell that I can use to summon my wine.......am looking for a wine slave though to bring me the wine........ :) :) :)

Kasper does look VERY happy to be out walking again. He must have missed his walks badly while he was laid up with his paw hurt. Zoey sure made short work of her fox toy!

Posted By: chief chickenOf course he looks happier - he's smiling! Does Zoe come back all right when you let her off lead? Yes, her recall is really good - she was playing off-lead with a Beagle for about 20 minutes the other day and every time I called her she came running!! I was very impressed with her, she did way better than the adult Beagle did Posted By: KatebThey shouldn't be charging you to remove stitches anyway - should be in with the cost of the op. glad he's all healed up and yes he does look happier! Two appts were included in the operation fee, but to have stitches out would have been a third (unnecessary) appt which we would have had to pay for! And some pics from Zoey's walk this mornin' Alert dog! We used the moor to cut through to a little park / forest we know about Which is very pretty! And as there was nobody to get jumped on, ZOEY GOT TO GO OFF-LEAD! Yahoo! There were lots of good sniffs to explore It's only small but when you join it on to another walk it's big enough

Kasper's cone is off!!! He had all the stitches out within minutes too so the wound is all done and dusted now! Sheesh, and they wanted us to go in so they could remove his stitches, even though they would've dissolved and they know how fearful Kasper is...*cough* money grabbers *cough*! To be fair our vet didn't once say we should have them removed, she said he would have them out himself. I love our vet! Does he look happier?? (no, he just looks goofy...)

Derby Peregrine Falcons 2013
on 2013-05-12 18:17:48
A peregrine falcon egg has just hatched on top of Bucks County Council's county hall. I wondered at the falcons'lack of taste in nesting there, but I suppose they don't have to look at the dreadful monstrosity if they're on top of it... The Derby chicks are so pretty - hard to believe they'll grow up to be streamlined and elegant with hooky beaks! :)

Three lovely white fluffy chicks now. Just one to hatch. Parents revving up with the feeding. Mum just served up pidgeon (wonder if it's that same one?) It is beautiful to see their tenderness when feeding those tiny beaks.

Carrots and Bananas, what's your rant for the day?
on 2013-05-11 20:50:10
I'm going to put some good news here because it relates to my earlier rant! The lady that was going to have Desmond came in today ... to show her daughter their new cat! He is currently called Darwin but is being renamed Mr Cat. He is the double of the cat in Breakfast at Tiffany's, which the lady had been watching on the morning and decided she'd go to rehoming and see who was in. The deputy manager took her to see him and she fell in love. He's a big ginger boy with a fantastic personality. Needs a tooth removing but should be home with them before the end of the month.

Call the dog catcher if your council has one. She's chipped so they'll return her, but you can make a point of telling them its the second time.

rant: Minnie, the dog we found straying and took to the vets that time, is straying again. In our garden this time. Really really annoyed at her owners, and we can't get her on lead and take her anywhere this time as a) it's a Saturday and b) there's nothing we can do with our dogs.

The parent or a baby? Maybe she's sitting on eggs and can't chase you off so is trying to scare you! Does the RSPB web site have a forum or contact page you could post a question on?

Perhaps it was your presence that was worrying it. I don't think you're supposed to go near nesting birds at all.

In a way I'm glad they didn't take him home as the vet bill was huge. They loved him - that was evident from their visits - but yes, not as bad as having him home then having to lose him so quickly. I think they will come and choose another cat when they're ready.
