I don\'t understand people that say any animal is \'horrid\' - they just don\'t know that animal. I would never have roaches, but I do understand why people find them fascinating. Maybe you should have a cat that\'s a bit more aloof and just sort of comes and goes as it pleases. Then you\'d have the pleasure of some contact each day, but not dominated by it. When are you back there again?

Maybe people would think it was an animal on the path at night - some of the dollops I\'ve seen are so big they could be mistaken for everything from a hedgehog to a great dane!!! I know they are bigger animals and therefore bigger poo, but there are a lot less horses around than dogs, except on your viaduct it seems! While we\'re on the subject, whatever happened to white dog poo?

Yes, all hospitals have to swab their admissions for MRSA now. It isn\'t as common as the press like to make it out to be - over recent years there has been a real effort to reduce the numbers. All that is reported are bloodstream infections - there are many hundreds of people who are colonised with MRSA (it\'s living on them somewhere) but it isn\'t a problem unless they have an open wound it can get into. There are lots and lots of other infect

Welcome Maryb! You can\'t go wrong on this site - we\'re all mad as a box of frogs I think, and don\'t stay on topic for long, so just jump in and say whatever comes to mind. The more you do it, the better you\'ll get at it!

Kasper\'s harness finally arrived - (don\'t get me started on the Royal Mail, we complained to them as today we also got a letter with an appt on that I almost missed because the Royal Mail took so long delivering it!!) - and it is AWESOME! I love the colour against his fur. It took 4 put-it-on-and-off\'s to counter condition him to having it put on (he\'s a sensitive dope and the thing goes over his head and then has to go under his belly so ve

Glad you are back at home TM, and you too by now Ollie! :) Posted By: ollie in UKThis hospital have not had any MRSA and swab everyone before adnission When I was at hospital in Stoke (not a private one) they swabbed me too, and I was only there for like 6 hours at A&E.

Posted By: ollie in UKI remember in Holland, some years ago, the street horses all had a canvas device behind them that collected their droppings. Huh, that\'s interesting... I just think horse poo has this almost romantic association, \'oh we\'re in the countryside isn\'t it lovely\'...whereas there have actually been calls for dogs to be walked on-lead everywhere so that owners will \'see their dogs poo\' and be able to pick it up...the opposit

Dedicated gardeners nick the horse poo as soon as they can anyway - I\'ve seen people nipping out with buckets and shovels after a horse has...passed! Dog poo is vile, seething with toxoplasmosis, and jumps up and rubs itself in childrens\' eyes. According to hyterical Hovis-style mothers and health and safety people anyway. I don\'t see much difference either, Red. I think you\'ll find it boils down to the fact that rich people own horses and ri

Posted By: Kateb I just hope they can slowly climb up your list as you get to know them better! I know cats pretty well...as a kid there was Sailor and Gomez my Aunt\'s cats, when I was older I cat-sat for a few of my neighbours when they were on holiday (ask the sappy animal lover ), there\'s Nelly and the cats we cared for at Animal Care...I\'ve known quite a few cats closely too, I\'m just not a cat person...like CC with sprogs :P And there a

Sounds like you are a top chicken owner! If there isn\'t an obvious bald patch, or any scabs or sore bits I wouldn\'t worry. Oh! Also, I forgot to mention, but chickens moult once a year too, so if you haven\'t seen a moult yet it could possibly be that too

You\'ve done great on the forum so far Mary, again I used to have a Light Sussex called Milly and she was the love of my life, everyone adored her. She died almost two years ago, it broke my heart but she had a great life. This is Milly (as you wander around the forum you will notice my photos bob up everywhere ) Also, we do love to see pics of other people\'s chucks, so feel free to share if you want :)

Hi everyone, I\'m Mary from Devon. I\'v got three hens Ella (Light Sussex) Blossom (Silver Sussex) and Treacle (Rhode Rock). Being new to all this (keeping hens) and not very good on the internet - please forgive me if I get things wrong. But I am looking forward to corresponding with like minded hennies. Please feel free to contact me and give me any advice on rearing hens. Best regards Mary

Hi Red, I\'m new to all this (keeping chickens)(also the internet and hencam) so please help if I\'m not corresponding in the correct way. Firstly, all my chicks seem to be behaving normally. Eating well, drinking, producing eggs etc. We feed them layers pellets, give them a handfull of corn once a day. We hang up cabbage, cauliflower etc. everyday. All their poo looks similar (dark with a little white) not runny. They were last wormed a

This hospital have not had any MRSA and swab everyone before adnission, treating if required. They go over board with the hand washing, having very detailed descriptions of washing techniques.

Kate, The floors are all carpeted apart from clinical areas. The staff didn\'t want carpets but one suggested there had been a deal done... The colours are very dreary too. In places the weave has broken down and threads loose. I can see there\'ll be replacing this sooner than planned. Glad your home Julie. I am going this morning. No place like home! Looking forward to the rest. Take care.

I have a hilarious image of people carrying a platic bag and pooper scooper when they go riding and collectibng the poo along the way. Now there\'s a job for someone, poo collector

ha ha Kate. I get it Red, of course you dont hate kitties, I am not a dog person and wouldn\'t own one but understand why people love them and I enjoy seeing their interactions with humans. I love all sorts of animals too, wish I could have one of many diferent sorts.

No other symptoms, but the fact that they\'re both sneezing means it must be something like a cold rather than an obstruction. Foggy has a dew drop at the end of her nose, but she hates me wiping it! Don\'t know about boosting their immune system - will look into it thanks! I\'ll ask at rehoming on Saturday and see if they need to see a vet. I don\'t want to pay for a visit to be told to just keep an eye on it!

Maybe the fact that it is big dollops means people can see it and avoid it, whereas dog poo is \'hidden\' so more likely to be taken home on the bottom of your shoe!!! At one time horse poo was highly prized and people would collect it for their gardens - wouldn\'t happen with the doggie variety. I wonder if its something to do with parasites? Saying that, horses have to be wormed regularly the same as dogs so that\'s probably a red herring.

But they do seem to be bottom of your list of preferred animals, with cockroaches being above them!!! I just hope they can slowly climb up your list as you get to know them better!
