My girls have started to go to bed real early now. It feels like autumn of an evening now. The Fluffies have started to bury themselves and Daisy wants to stay in nights. I really do hope we are not in for a long winter this year.

The strangest thing is, I don't ever move the puffin, or even stand it up - so it's either the girls having a laugh at our expense, or someone else (I've no idea who)!

It is funny cos I do not look forward to the winter..... although it is nice to snuggle up under a fleecy blanket when it is mega cold. Then comming in to the smell of baked spuds after a long walk or some digging. Going to bed early to watch TV all snuggled up and it is blowing a right hooley outside. The cats always want to cuddle up more as well. There must be loads more good points to consider as well !!!

I think you've listed excellent benefits of winter. I find I'm always so busy going to work and back, cooking, cleaning ... I see suggestions like yours and think wow, I'd love to live like that. And of course I could if I wanted too, it just doesn't seem to end up that way! I love snow as long as I don't have to go out in it, but invariably I do HAVE to, in which case I hate it!

It's hard to see the progression but I suppose it must be - I mean, I can see stuff is getting done (the bathroom walls are tiled and we have the dining room and stairway plastered), but there are so many other jobs piling up (choosing floor tiles, sorting out lights, skirting, doors, etc etc)

On top of that we are having an absolute nightmare with the fire for the dining room (soon to be named 'the cinema'!) - basically do not buy from Artisan in brighouse if you need the fireplace when they say it will be delivered, as they make excuses and keep you waiting for weeks...

Helen complained and they said they'd install it for free (usually costs about £300 - good times!), but then say that our flue is too small and possibly asbestos which needs removing and replacing by a professional company (costs about £1000 - bad times!), so it feels like we're getting nowhere fast.

The posts under all the stickies often get missed could the stickies be in their own category as stickies only so no one can post under them if you know what I mean. Sorry I haven't explained it very well. I also like the site as it is but it is probably because I have become used to it.

    Hi NN,

That was the idea originally, but then 'important' threads started in each of the threads and it gradually grew into the mess you see today.

I could spend ages tidying them all up, but then some wouldn't be in the right category, and it would probably get as bad after a while again...

Chaos, but hopefully fun chaos! Maybe a way round would be to show more threads under each category, so it would take longer for older threads to fall off the bottom?

Yes I can see the problem with the stickies situation Neil don't worry though as we can manage, It is silly making work for yourself.

"Don't make me come up there"........Ha ha CC, my Mum used to say that to us kids and I have often heard myself say it to my kids. Must be a real Mum thing

Thanks for confirming CC... I remote-rebooted it and it seemed to start it again (after I spent 10 minutes that morning fiddling with wires and connectors... doh!)

PS. We'll be passing MK twice tomorrow (once VERY early in the morning and once possibly around 8pm... I was going to beg a coffee off you but didn't want to impose... :face-monkey:

    Keeper of the hens

It was a really fun end to the day (well, much more fun than the very-tired drive up the motorway in the dark, almost falling asleep, and knowing we couldn't stop until we got to the hotel, and then finding the hotel we'd booked was... errr... less than salubrious... and had feather pillows everywhere despite asking for none, and the sheets were damp, and holey, and the tiles in the bathroom rocked when you walked on them and...)

We were totally shocked and in awe of CC and LSE's house - there isn't a bare bit of wall, it's completely covered in period signs, antiques, curiosities and stuff that frankly I've no idea what the hell they were but they looked interesting!

CC was lovely and showed us around the house and even the garden (great Christmas lights!), and we saw the rabbits and mop-head chickens (cutest things ever).

Scarlet got to spend some quality time with the cats so she was in heaven too, it was all very good and quite a distraction from the horrors of Jedward!

I think we might be down that way again this weekend, but will understand if they pretend to be out! :face-devil-grin:

CC, I call wine ...water. It makes it easier for me drink loads. HIc !!!!

I love the signs in CC's house and often when I see one that I think CC might like, I'm tempted to stop and nick it of the post but am scared of being caught.

Neil, if you are headed up the M1, it's always worth giving me a call.

I act as a great tea-stop....much better then those motorway ones. :face-smile:

We don't change our clocks till the 7th of November, NN.. (like that does anything to help) There aren't enough hours in the day for me to get done all I have to do, with enough light to see by. I hate falling around in the dark. Oh well, it doesn't do any good to complain. I'll just have to wait till the days start to get longer again. :face-smile:
