Both the girls are sleeping still, Penny on the perch and Tilly in the nest box. I don't think they have moved for hours. It's almost daylight now so they should be waking up soon.

    Haha, that photo is brill!!

We spent Halloween at Lyle's looking after the dog and kitten. Only two trick or treaters came, and the greedy pigs grabbed massive handfuls of sweets from the bowl! They pretty much cleared us out in one sitting, good job we didn't have any more!!

What happened to the days of old, when I went trick or treating I took one sweet and hoped I'd be offered another

No I didn't make it TM, there is an excellent internet shop that sells them (www.fuzzbutt.co.uk). She makes some lovely stuff, prices are reasonable, and they last for ever!!

We only had 3 lots of trick or treaters (8 kids) and they were all dressed up, very sweet, and waited to be given the sweets! we still have loads left so hubby is eating them all!!

No, it's my rabid dislike of commercialism! And brats of course...I did relent one Hallowe'en...my mate's brats walked all the way up the path in the dark (we turned the lights out) and were offered sweets from the brain jar. Which LSE salvaged from a mortuary he was refitting. 'Nuff said. (He also asked if we wanted a six foot draining board; I declined.) They never came again.

There'll be fireworks for a while yet probably. Nelly had her stitches out on Monday, but she has to be kept in for another week (even though she could go out now) because of the fireworks. She's never experienced fireworks before, and for her first time outside it'd be a little too scary for her!

She's gonna be a right outdoor cat! Last weekend when we were there we let her out whilst I was cutting Lyle's hair, she was really timid and nervous at first, but by the time we'd finished she was sprinting around and wouldn't come back inside! We had to coax her in with a Murray Mint wrapper in the end, she can't resist those

I bet she brings a few little presents in when she gets her bearings as well. My son Dan':face-devil-grin:s cat even brings rabbits home she has caught and drags them through the cat flap when they are out or during the night. They have to check under the bed each morning cos as Dan says there is bound to be something dead under there !!!

An old boss of mine said her cat was so good at catching, killing and bringing home rabbits that the postman used to have to pick his way through the bodies spread up the path each morning! She stopped doing it after a couple of years - probably figured if her human wasn't going to eat them she wouldn't waste her time!

That reminds me - when I went to the gym today I saw a beautiful black cat walking along the path by a busy road outside an engineering works. I couldn't make out what it was doing it at first, then realised it had a mouse in its mouth and was using its paw to push it a bit further in to carry.

I still don't know how to see the cam via the MAC... With the PC, he reloaded Windows XP in. But, sigh, I don't think its going to work long term. I can't register Windows with Microsoft (they keep saying its not an authentic number - even though its the same one I used initially.) So it will probably go up in smoke in about 29 days. And, the fonts, etc look funny. And, today, I got one glimpse of the cam and then ... blackness. Argggh. But, I agree - three cheers for Brian none-the-less. He's spent a lot of time on this "project."

Actually, the cam screen isn't blank, it has a graphic and says "Windows Media."

Sadly not able to repair it, but my Mrs says if I'm a good boy Santa may have one in his sack, and it's possible it just might fit down our chimney. Hope everyone in Hencamland is well, I don't have much time these days, I have to care for my Mrs (Julie) - Arthritis is quite debilitating, that and her asthma means I can't be too far away from her. But we are happy, Bella our puppy who was only 11 weeks old when I posted the picture is now 10 months old and quite a handfull too.

When you get a mo you will have to do us a photo of Bella I am sure she is a real big girl now. Did you do any rescue tranining with her like you had hoped ? I can't see the girls - are they on the coop floor? Or have they gone in the house?! Ah, they're at the back, I just saw movement.

And yes, I see the irony of 'working from home' and posting on hencam!!!! Finished everything I brought home!

    Keeper of the hens

Mine have eaten spicy food before TM, they didn't complain!

The girls came out of their bedroom today, with no prodding! I went and got the water and food bowl from their bedroom, filled it with warm water and corn porridge, and when I went back they were in the coop looking miserable!

Yes it certainly looks like a christmas tree dish Julie. Very posh.... mine have to make do with an old tub !!!! Especially after forking out thirty five quid for a new galvanised drinker.

I see the girls are in bed already! Isn't it a little early for them, or does the cold weather make a difference to them?

They're not settled though - they are very alert as if they can hear something.

If it's cold, mine sometimes clutter off to bed early. And they seem to go some time before it gets dark, too, not just at dusk.

My girls take themselves off to bed early when it's cold and rainy way before dark too. My big girls have started laying eggs again..at least 4 of them anyway..my Silkies have been laying for weeks now, but their eggs are so small Don doesn't eat them.

Lots of birds on the nut feeder earlier. Tilly and Penny were busy eating their food as well swinging the feeder back and forth. I was suprised they didn't get knocked off the little wall.

We saw a robin walking back today, stood right close and stared back at us. Most robins are so tame...I think they get spoilt more than other bird varieties!
