It really is great to be able to see the cam action again. I'm done with Mac's. Got myself a PC and all is well with the world again.

I haven't been able to see it in so long that I'd forgotten the cam moves. Thought someone had picked it up and was walking around the coop. LOL.

The hen we moved out of the pen last night because of her foot and into a cage of her own, was the "boss hen" so none of my big girls laid an egg today. We had gotten 9 yesterday afternoon. They are sorting out who is going to take her place. I hope Boss's foot will heal fast so she can go back out with her friends again.

Is she feeling any better Lynn ? They do get upset when their family life is disorganised Kate. Mine are still squabbling between themselves every so often and Baby Blue is being very saucy, taking liberties and showing off. She is such a funny little hen and has a fantastic sense of humour.

If it takes a while for the foot to heal will she lose her place in the pecking order, or is she strong enough to re-establish herself?

Is Baby Blue angling to be the new leader?

I'm sure Boss will get her place back in the pecking order once she can walk again. She seems better today, but I can't let her back in with the rest of the girls till the holes in her foot have sealed over and I can leave the bandages off her foot. I hope she heals fast poor little thing.

    Keeper of the hens

Lynn, yep they're both laying - Tilly lays 1 - 2 per week whereas Penny lays about 4+.

Diane, I once read that once a chicken is over 8 years old, egg production is practically nil...Tilly and Penny are very special girls! For all Tilly is lazy and has never been much of a layer, she's still going now and I never expected that.

Red, my girls are all old (7 to 11 years) and they are all still laying. I got 7 eggs yesterday out of 10 hens in the big girl's coop. They may not lay all year around now, but we still get plenty of eggs. It's good my daughter has a big family now, or we'd be swimming in them. I think it's how good the care they are given, is why Tilly and Penny are still laying.

A delinquent hen - that has made me laugh NN!

You're probably right Lynn, most hens don't get treated as well as the ones cared for by the folk on this forum! 8 is probably an average so when you take into account the young ones that are farmed against the older ones in individual homes its more than likely quite common to have old layers!

Hehe Tilly and Penny are in bed; Tilly is glowering in her sleep towards the cam, and Penny has her beak to the roof as if she is too good for the likes of us!!

Frogy is in the lower right hand corner most nights, you can see one of it's eyes glowing in the dark as it waits for a nice tasty bug to come along. Right now I can see both of it's eyes glowing.

I'm on the Mac again so don't get the webcam feed. I must go back to the laptop but it sort of feels wrong now to sit in my rat room / Danny's bedroom!

Well, he's mainly there for Lynn and Ronald. :face-devil-grin:

I think the US viewers are ideally located timezone-wise to watch froggy!
