He only likes night time frogs CC. Tim says hes playing frog Bopit Ha ha. Yes the fish will eat the tadpoles as they are hatching but usually leave the spawn alone.... although saying that I have known them eat it when weather has been real mean. Ha I have only shown you the best bits in the garden. I have to plant a whole load of spring bulbs this autumn. I do love flowers in the garden so much nicer than cut flowers that only last a short time. Next door have cut down a huge willow tree that bordered our fence. I have mixed feelings about it. I am glad it is being cut as it was pushing our fence in especially with the high winds we have had, But the birds loved it and it offered a lot of privacy during the summer months from the new houses they built on street behind us.

Get yourself a couple of nice tubs or containers plant them up and then they only need a bit of water every so often Kate. So much easier than a border of plants and the cats dont bother with them.

Thats a good idea Kate be a little project for them. You could always get them to set some of those mini tomatoes. Mallory set some last time she was here now she will get to pot them on to a larger pot this holiday. The seeds germinate really easily. She loves to do things like that. I got a load of craft stuff in on Tuesday ready for her her. She comes on Easter Monday and I am so looking forward to seeing her again xxxx

    Keeper of the hens

    Resurrecting, as it's spring again!

I have back ache and aching arms from this weekend's "fun" - our little concreted bit of garden which is basically useless (although it did used to have the rabbit/guinea pig run on it) is now concrete-less - Joe helped me smash it up and then on Sunday I made several trips to the tip with too much rubble, stone and concrete! Helen's car is now seriously lower than it used to be...

Here's what it looks like at the moment - it will eventually have the soil dug over and a new stone wall to retain the raised bit, and then wooden raised veg plots in the centre. Have rubble/soil sacks coming for the impending clear-out!

what a peculiar mix of weather we had yesterday. We went to Suffolk and were treated to a glorious sunny and warm start to the day, Then wind sprung up just after lunch and the clouds rolled in bringing snow then large hailstones then it was heavy rain. Back to the sunshine but you could see the blackest of clouds looming up and circling round. Time to go home and it was just downpours of hail sleet and rain. Luckily there wasnt much traffic so the journey wasnt too bad. It was a weird sunset though and looked like the clouds were smouldering quite eerie

G/N is slowly revamping the veg garden area. We had last bonfire yesterday and he wanted to do more today. It was a bit cold and wet though and as I wanted to help ( stick my oar in more like !!!) he decided my cough was a good excuse to call it a no gardening day !!! I didnt mind as I was quite content to do a bit of crochet instead

oh that sounds so comforting CC. Glad its fixed now so you dont have to worry. It was about nine thirty when I got up today and when I opened the blinds was surprised to see G/N busy doing some digging in the veg garden. Bless him he wanted to surprise me and he sure did as he hates gardening. He has one bed cleared it was hard going as it was full of dock leaves and they seem to have a root on them that goes right through to Australia. We got some spuds planted in there so good Job on that front. I managed to empty one of the composter bins and shift the potting area over to behind the summerhouse. So we certainly got a good start. Finished work at lunch time though as I wanted to have my hair cut and then it was a trip to the shops to get a new sandwich toaster and a coffee maker. Will try and do a bit more tomorrow weather and cough permitting. I got some covonia dry and tickly cough mixture when we were out and had a swig on the way home. Its good stuff made me cough more than I was beforehand !!!!

There's actually nothing in cough medicine to help a cough, other than being soothing. Working with a bunch of pharmacists really opens your eyes to all these meds that act faster, target pain, more effective - load of twaddle. They're no different to the paracetamol and ibuprofen you can buy for 20p at the supermarket. Doesn't stop my hubby buying anadin with caffeine etc. He's convinced they work better. Placebo effect and mind over matter!

Glad you had a good day in the garden. I got a really big job done at work so feeling pleased with myself

Excellent suggestion CC!! I went to the supermarket today and Caitlyn asked me to bring her some fruit. She loves variety so I bought her one of those ready made fruit salads-package stated 4 servings. She demolished the lot. She would eat her 5 a day and the rest of our share if she had the chance!

I've Ben adapting Caitlyn's costume - cut the fingers off some white gloves to go over her orange ones to look like Lumiere's candles. Just got to get a cheap gold plastic bowler hat for her now. Amazon here I come!

Well that sport on Sunday was just too much I think as I stooped down to plug in the hot brush on Monday and my back went. Ive had to lay flat for a day and a half and then managed to get up yesterday afternoon. Its blinking painful and as its so low in the back my legs dont want to work very well. G/N has been a real star doing every thing he could to help me. Bless him. The only thing was to bring me soup when I could not get off my back. No couldnt use a straw as it was chunky leek and potato. He didnt make the same mistake as last time it went by leaving me on the landing hanging on to the door frame bursting for a wee !!!!! So am able to sit and get up by myself if I am super carefull. I havent been totally lazy though and have managed to get the finishing edge done on the blanket. I am looking forward to getting on with Mallory's jumper now and will then do some more mices. I will get G/N to take a picture of blanket for you tomorrow. Have you decided on what sort of blanket you going to do yet Kate ? xx
