    Keeper of the hens

Renee seems to be ok!  She's laying lovely white eggs:

It's actually Mabel that's causing us a bit of concern now - she's been acting a little strangely - going to 'bed' and roosting for several hours during the day and then going to the nest box then coming back out - hopefully it's just "first egg" worries and she'll get the hang of it.

    We've had 6 eggs today I think!

We also had Scarlet's Quail eggs for tea the other night - they were really cute - mini fried eggs! In the middle is a hen egg:

I hope Mabel's all right. I expect you're right and it's first egg nerves!
I love the pic of the quail eggs and hen eggs side by side; four eggs to one slice of bread?

Chewbacca often does that Neil and she been laying for several years now. Might be just a hen thing but best to keep your eye on her as she is so young xx

    Keeper of the hens

She laid an egg (from the perch!) so hopefully that's it.

She needs to learn to lay eggs in a nest and not drop them as bombs from the roosting perches!

Those quail eggs were really nice and very cute! I had mine non-squished - top egg in the pan - (Helen likes hers well-done), so I had a lovely runny yolk but it wasn't too big to drip everywhere, they're perfect for having on top of sausage butties!

Do quail eggs taste the same as hens eggs? They look so cute all in the same pan!!!

I hope Mabel will learn not to drop bombs from the perch and learn about the nest boxes, Neil..bombs are a little messy to clean up. :face-smile::face-smile:
