Thanks everyone. It's so strange not having her around, but there's also a little bit of relief that she isn't in pain any more. xx

    Keeper of the hens

I can understand that Kate. Had you had Emmett since she was a kitten? I know she'd had health issues for a while so I can totally imagine the sorrow of losing her but the relief that she isn't suffering at all anymore

Yes, we chose her at 2 days old, and collected her at 6 weeks. All of her siblings had died before they were 5, and her mom died young too so she did extremely well to survive to such a great age. Maybe she took all of the good genes! It's very quiet without her, and I feel bad saying it but life seems easier as I'm not constantly feeding, medicating, cleaning or checking up on her. Never begrudged her a second of it though. xx

You realise that this means there is now a cat-shaped vacancy at Kate Towers? Another cat could have the same lovely life at your house that Emmett had...just sayin'...:face-devil-grin:

There are already 5 other occupants at Kate Towers, and the numbers will not be getting any higher!! Once the current occupants reach an advanced age in another 10+ years then I'll look at what happens next, which will probably be either homing oldies, or FIV+ cats - they spend such a long time in pens. Until then I'm making the most of a slightly easier time of it!

Collected her ashes yesterday - had a lovely 'pot' for them. Caitlyn (granddaughter) wanted to have a look so I opened it assuming they'd be in something inside but they weren't and a little bit came out and landed on my lap. We commented that it was the first time she'd ever been on my lap! Good to have her home and residing back in the bedroom with eldest son where she always spent her time.

Thanks for all the good wishes. xx

I suppose it's a bit odd to keep the ashes, but there's no where I feel I could scatter them. Maybe when it's my turn I'll put it in my will to cremate me, mix all the ashes up, and scatter us somewhere nice.
