Its so nice and sunny and still in the garden today, yet tomorrow its supposed to be a lot colder with snow. Minnie and I went out for a bit of fresh air, while the boys all snoozed. I took camera with me and was surprised by how many things were budding I just hope Jack frost dont nip them all off and stunt them. The geraniums are all blooming in the conservatory. Soon be time to make new plants from them via cuttings

Such wonderful pics, NN. I really think they would make excellent crds... I was worried for the birds too this morning; gave them extra seeds and nuts and corn, defrosted the pondy thing and gave the hens scrambled eggs. Now the rabbits and the hens are all huddled up together in the rabbit hutch!

    Wonderful photos as ever NN!

We have had snow today. Volume wise it wasn't excessive, but there was no grit (I think the wind must've blown it all away!) so the roads were awful. Took 90mins to get home which usually takes 20. Roads are treacherous so am intending to work from home tomorrow. Very stressful driving through it.

I saw a little wren searching for food when I was in a queue of traffic. Felt so sorry for it, we're frozen with several layers of clothes on so they must really be feeling it. Too close to spring to be having these freezing temperatures.

Luckily I didnt have to go out and feel sorry for those of you that did, So glad you can work from home Kate, and not suffer that trip again today. G/N had to go to the hospital just to have his eye checked they are very pleased with every thing and hope to do the other in about 12-14 weeks time. He went on the bus and said the main roads were fine our street was awful they never come with salt to do it. Replenished the feeders again today. The birds are straight in the baskets. The squirrel came as well we dont see it that often. It was so hungry poor old thing it didnt want to leave the bird table until every last scrap was eaten. It doesnt bother with the baskets, but the birds love them.

As forecast, the snowstarted at 2pm and hasn't stopped. Hubby took my car to work. He finishes at 6 and was still in the car park at 6.30. Still not home yet-he only works about 5 miles away. Apparently many of the main roads haven't been treated, though the speed it's coming down it would be a waste of time anyway!

Thanks for taking care of your birds NN, I wish I had some way of helping them but I don't have a feeder or tree or food for that matter.

Hideous weather for anybody travelling; I'm glad you could work from home, Kate. My friend's car had frozen locks so she couldn't get to work - she wasn't sorry! She works for the people who make her car, rang them and they said 'O yes, that does tend to happen'! The country they're made in has lots of high snowy mountains; I bet they don't advertise THAT little quirk!
I put the hens to bed early with a strange mix of hot scrambled egg, grapes, sunflower seeds, grated cheese and a bit of ham. Had to get them in out of the steady snow somehow - soppy birds! Rabbits were sensibly tucked up in the hutch, looking out of the open door. Birds in the garden (and squirrels!) had two large helpings of corn, sunflower seeds and peanuts. We may possibly have the fattest squirrels in England - I reckon they could comfortably hibernate until 2025.

Last week the electric system failed for the pump on our pond. G/N couldn't find where the fault was so we decided to renew the lot and put a new filter system in as the old box was getting very brittle. It was second hand when we got it and that was well over ten years ago so had done us proud, as we run it all year round. We had to go to B and Q for bits and bobs, jubilee clips and such boring stuff for connecting all the new wiring and tubing. Not exactly my idea of a trip out..... but I go because I know I will find some bargains in the plant and garden area !!! Sure enough I got two biggish Plant pots for £1 each and some plants less than half price that only needed a good tidy up to go in them. Pots of iris, crocus polyanthas (excuse spelling I know its wrong but for the life of me I can not remember how it goes !!)daisies and some spear like grass plants I dont know names of. I also got three nice little tin hanging pots to hook over the rails of the summer house porch. So this afternoon I spent a lovely time in the garden sorting the pots out and having a bit of a tidy around. The sun was beautiful and warm. Its got colder now so thought I would have my coffee and a chat with you. To dull for pictures now as the clouds are rolling in. We are supposed to have snow tomorrow, so Im glad I was able to get out there today.

Yes NN I started it 6 months ago. Can't say I like it at all. Might have a back up job by Friday but it isn't really something I want, however it is a safety net while I find an alternative. Have put in for a couple of other jobs but this process is awful and unfair. However they're very careful and abide by the law, but not by the spirit. No recognition of the horrendous stress they're putting on staff.

Diane, I'm not sure what these kids want, no one to have guns or just not the assault weapons, I don't see the need of them either..but I'm keeping my revolver and shotguns (they belonged to my Grandfather and are over 100yrs. old). I don't think you need to go after a deer with an AR-15.

We have the police come round and check our security (you HAVE to have a gun safe or keep it at a rifle club, and I think you have to be member of and to shoot at a rifle club to own a rifle) and we need references. Certificates have to be reapplied for every 3 years.

You need a professional as a referee; my friend is a probation officer and I've known her since I was eleven so she was my referee. The policeman who came was a little worried that I'd HAD a probation officer since I was eleven. I pointed out the difference...:face-smile:

Hi all and Happy Easter, I got an choccy egg but G/N says I can not have it till tomorrow how mean is that ha ha. Not a lot to tell you about My back is improving each day thank goodness. I managed to get G/N started on next garden job, but rain is stopping play. So many flowers out now and I actually saw two butterflies the other day a Comma and a Brimstone, They really cheered me up they were on the hyacinths, (or the blue bells that G/N told me were in bloom !!) The birds are really starting to pair up as well I so hope they use the nesting boxes this year. Poor Mickey got nipped on the bum by a Jack Russel last week he is ok but his pride is badly dented. Blinking dog is always walked off lead and in every ones front garden weeing. I can never work out how dogs carry all that wee about with them !!!

Lol. CC Eric needs to install a video cam in your house I see. Maybe inside the head of a toy rabbit.

NN I am glad to hear your back is improving. And that Mickey is ok! I have a more and more difficult time controlling my anger around dog owners who don't control their dogs. And, on the island here, we have many more dogs each year. Especially during tourist season.

    Happy Bunny Day!

Is April 1st April Fool's Day there as well? Or are we the only ones having the April Fool's/Easter combo?

Thanks Diane, yes Mickey is getting there he is still subdued but my lovely gentle giant Sootz is by his side, encouraging him to be happy. It is almost as if he thinks he has done something wrong, He is getting extra treats and always has loads of fuss. Minnie is teasing him and that doesnt always help matters ha ha. I do like most dogs but it is the owners that let them do what ever they want that are to blame. My dogs used to be trained to a very high standard and know what was right and wrong. A lot of parents are just as bad letting their little darlings run amok and such. Yes it is April fools here also. My Dad used to call it all fools day !!!

Poor Mickey. I agree about the dogs / kids thing too, behaviour is poor.

I'm still completely stressing about Mic moving out. I torture myself about him being alone and cry every morning. I'm missing him a lot which doesn't help, Danny is being a spoilt brat complaining that he hasn't got Mic's room yet and is oblivious to our feelings, but Pete is being really supportive. He probably wants me to get over this but knows it'll take me time.

What a crappy weather week so cold and foggy, We had Mallory for the week as well, still we wrapped up warm and managed a visit to Scarborough and even got on to the beach for a pretty rock and shell hunt. Then another day we went to the museum of childhood which was fun, We had visits to restaurants and even McDonalds, did loads of treat and craft supplies shopping we also planted all our seeds. Made two beautiful pictures using some of the haul from the beach and while I did the ironing Mallory and G/N made a heart shaped clock for Mallory's bedroom. We played so many board games and the usual fun such as decorating our bedroom with light up balloons and glow sticks. It was brighter than day in there !!!. The TV never gets a look in we are so busy. We took her to her Daddies yesterday and the weather here is lovely I got doors and windows open and had a good house clean and even got my laundry out on the line.

It don't seem possible my last post was complaining about the crappy weather. What a huge difference I am now about to moan that it has been to hot for me Ha ha Poor weather it just can not win. Was a tad cooler today though and the sun was still shining so I managed to get some of my garden tubs painted up. They are quite old as is the tub of masonry paint I use on them, but it cheers them up and they keep going for yet another year. So nice also to get the grass cut yesterday.

They will eat almost anything and love a bit of cat kibble and the dryish bits left after the cats have sucked the juice off their wet food !! They also love to chase a slice of bread around that's until Goldie sucks the whole middle of it down. To make the game last longer I usually just give them a crust. The smaller fish are the offspring from the bigger ones.

When she moved house (wow, I just realised it was 10 years ago!) and got the fish ready to go there was an accident with the pump and they all died bar 2. She was beside herself. She's built it back up though and has some huge fish now - never mind the kibble, they'd eat the cat!!

Beautiful time of year. Sunny here today and so many flowers exploding color into a landscape that just days ago felt too green and grey.

There is a campaign here to leave the dandelions - they are some of the first flowers to entice and help support the survival of bees.

I never thought of that Diane - I'll be grateful for the dandelions in my lawn from now on!

I did my first bit of gardening today - we threw away the kids plastic house out of the garden. The grass was dead underneath it so I dug it over (I told the neighbour it would encourage the cats to poo there instead of in his garden - it's shut him up for now!). I sprinkled some flower seeds over it then - we got them when my nephew got married, they were on the tables. No idea what flowers they'll produce, or even if they're still 'live'.

Plus if my back is "iffy" I can not always do what I want in fear that it will totally go. I was pulling weeds yesterday near the what can I use this for heap. and came up with my next fence art idea. I had to rope G/N in to help me but we had a fun afternoon.
