LOL. He is too smart and emotionally balanced. And he knows he is awesome because I tell him at least 4 times a day. His full brother has exactly the opposite body. It makes me laugh every time I pick him up. He is the youngest but he is also, by far, the biggest. He's a little tank and...it was always very obvious that he was a boy.

Hakuin and Harri are full brothers. Merlin's mother is H & H's sister, and they all have the same father. So M is a cousin AND a half brother of H & H. A bit like many royal families... :)

Ha bit of a google Kate...........Colin Wilbourn makes narrative sculpture, he feels that there's always a story buried within it, even if he doesn't necessarily know what that story is. In this case, perhaps the story is Chaz Brenchley's Murder at the Red House, written for radio and broadcast

We went over to Rufford to feed the ducks as it was a nice cool evening Not many Ducks got a look in as the geese took over. Stomped all over my feet and mucked up my deck shoes also my white leggings were a big mistake They were full of tricks like biting my fingers while I was getting the food out then trying to make a hole in the bag so the grain spilled out I felt like a goose girl. Ha ha

They had been on my finger since we got married so a bit sad, especially as it is our wedding anniversary in two days time. I will go and get measured when bad swelling goes down and have them made bigger.

Disgraceful NN !! :rolling: I discovered a couple of years ago that a friend had never actually got married but she always referred to him as her husband. I said nope, he's still a boyfriend! (They're not even engaged!!!)

I check mine will still come off regularly - it really scares me if I can't get them off, I have to soap them etc. Silly but I just hate the thought of them being stuck. It's this extreme weather NN - at least he'll know what to get you for your anniversary now!

What did you get the poop out with? Vanish or plain old washing powder?

Lovely CC its an amazing language uses so many letters for each word and is a treat to the ears to hear. Mallory had such fun trying to say it. she is asking every one... do you know what new potatoes is in Welsh.....No? well I do its tato nui !!!! Im sure I have spelt it wrong CC will know. We had a fantastic time camping in Pembrokeshire South Wales, close to where Mallory's Daddy was born. Weather was on and off but we didn't let that worry us and we were cosy as bugs in rugs in our sleeping bags.I got pictures so I am sure some will make it on here. We returned Mallory yesterday so have got the house to sort out and clean now !! I managed to keep washing down but the ironing pile is huge !!!

Ha ha I love popty ping CC I will tell her when I see her again. I have made some Victoria plum jam today and frozen enough stewed plums for a few pies or crumbles over the winter. My poor little tree has been loaded this year to the point that the branches were breaking. The apple tree is also loaded so that will be next making apple sauce and pulp for apples pies. It has been a really good year for fruit in my garden. I still got half a tree of plums but its a job giving them away round here. Such a shame when you look at the cost of them in the shops. I just have to resign myself that I can not use them all. Odd thing is I got no wasps on the tree this year.... but did get stung walking past a bin in town. Mallory really enjoyed being nurse treating it with sting cream and giving a full report on how it was doing !!!!! It was on my back so I couldn't see it.

Nurse Mallory to the rescue - good girl. Nice to have a nurse in the family! I adore Victoria plums and we've been emptying M&S of their stock...

NN - I just picked a batch of plums. Do you have a good canning recipe that you would be willing to share with me? That is awesome Grandma care, Mallory.

CC - I got your Skype message. Did you get my next one?

Thanks for the interest in canning Diane, It all depends on what you want. So far this year I have frozen some, then canned some for pies and crumbles. Made Plum jam, Chinese plum sauce. Plum Chutney for cold cuts. Now I am plummed out so made some pineapple and pepper chutney it goes nice with Gammon steaks and baked ham. I will be doing some pickled onions and am thinking what I can also do with some of the apples I might make some more wine every one enjoyed the apple wine, and it only takes a year to mature. The plum wine I made three years ago has matured really well and is really nice now. I got loads of other tried and tested recipes for canning so just say what you were thinking of and I will dig some out for you I do tend to try and do different stuff each year.

Wow. All I have ever done (and it is this year) is blackberry jam. I have some apples and am starting to make apple sauce to can. And I have this bag of plums. I would love a simple recipe for plum jam. Thank you so much, NN.

    Plum Jam
    Ingredients
900 g 2lb dessert plums (weight without stones)
    4 tbsp water
    900 g 2lb sugar
    2 tbsp lemon juice
1 knob butter approx 1 tsp

    Instructions
Halve the fruit and remove the stones.
Wash your jars and place in a low oven.
Put Plums into a large pan with the water and cook gently until they are soft but not disintegrated.
Add the sugar and lemon juice and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Bring to the boil and boil rapidly, remove from the heat after after 5 minutes and test for set (see below).
When setting point has been reached, skim off the most of the froth (scum) into a bowl (you can still eat this, it's not dirty just frothy) then add the knob of butter which will disperse the remaining scum.

Ladle into sterilised jars. Put lids on tight then hot water bath for ten minutes to seal jars

To Test for Set: After about 5 mins, spoon a little jam onto a cold saucer. Place it back in the fridge for 2 minutes then push the jam with your fingertip. If it wrinkles, the jam is ready. If not, cook for a few mins more and test again, with another cold saucer. If you have a sugar thermometer, it will read 105C when ready

NN Thank you. Very much. For your time and interest. So, I don't have to remove the skins. I was wondering how that was going to happen. No need for pectin either then. I'll probably make it on Thursday. I really appreciate you telling me how.

How did you Jam making go Diane? I got the wine on the go and have done some apple sauce. Then Jay comes and brings me a huge bag of beautiful Bramley apples. I will try and store a few of the biggest ones but think I will can the rest, they are too good to waste. Ive been so busy sorry I haven't been about for a few weeks, We had some hig winds with the storm and the rain was heavy and between the two thing we had a leaking shed roof same with porch and greenhouse come out door loo. Then looking at the kitchen roof that needs attention as well. Plus G/N has had his second eye op so thankfully that's out of the way and he can see fine. I have had to make my friend some huge tube sock as her feet are so cold. She is ok but still doesn't know if she will have to have one or both amputated as yet , but hopefully her next scan will tell.

Yes Lynn it has been an awful time for her and all the family and friends, she is such a lovely lady and so family orientated. She had a small sore on her foot for some time that refused to heal properly. Then she felt unwell and was rushed to hospital with Sepsis that quickly came on during the night. Her feet were going black and they said had she not got to hospital when she did her organs would have started shutting down. She spent a month in hospital and had several operations on her feet, They look terrible you can even see the bones on one. She has had maggot treatment twice and it will be a long old haul to her recovery. She is home now but is closely monitored with a nurse coming in every day and frequent hospital appointments. They found out that she was diabetic and had been for some time, thankfully that is now under control. Thank you for your concern, We are in touch most days and it is so good to be able to say people were asking after her and wishing her well xxxx

Wow. She (and her loved ones) have been through A LOT. I do wish her all the best. More good wishes from America.

NN I have canned plums, black berries and lots of apple sauce. And then a friend asked be to go cranberry picking - so eight pounds of those. I love how much support for harvesting and preserving food there is once you start doing it. The plum jam is great. Thank you for guiding me through that.

Thank you all so much, I will update you when news comes in.

Oh lovely Diane, so pleased to help. Do you have a dehydrator? I am going to do some apple rings, they are lovely to snack on. I usually do loads of different things in mine. Im still using the mushrooms I did year before last. Dehydrated food has a very long shelf life, and takes up very little room in the pantry. I like doing tomatoes as well unfortunately I haven't found any at a good enough price to can or dehydrate this year.

I suppose it was the diabetes that prevented it healing initially - diabetics have a lot of foot problems. So lucky that she went to hospital - sepsis kills people so quickly. I hope they can save her feet - I'm sure she'll appreciate the socks!

Best I make her another cat nip toy CC she must be ready for a new one. Mickey climbed to the top shelf of the pantry the other day and was sniffing the cat nip tub and rattling it about. I had put it up there to keep it away from his attentions. He don't miss nothing Earlier tonight I caught him trying to chew the second hand off a clock G/N had made, its looking a bit battered now but luckily still works !!!!! So maybe best I make them all some new ones. Still he has dispatched plenty of spiders this year so I can not be too cross with him xx

My cats love it when I work from home - they take turns sitting on the laptop! Unfortunately for them we've been issued with new ones that are called Zero Client Laptops (basically they have nothing on them, they're just a link to the internet and the cloud based desktop or something like that) and they don't emit much heat. My old one would be too hot to be on my lap after half and hour - used the new one all day yesterday and it was fine. Poor cats - the NHS just doesn't think of their welfare in these colder days!!! :rolling:

Dreadful. What am I paying my taxes for?? Everyone knows the NHS was set up to keep cats warm... NN, Tuppence would adore a new toy, thank you; the people who make the Zebedee catnip mice have changed something and she now ignores them completely. The ears are now grey and the bags are different.:face-sad:
