Ollie here as promised is the very first photo of Evie freshly hatched last night at one thirty. So nice I can share it with you as I remember how delighted you were when I shared the first photo of Mallory six years back.

Wah, nearly ten pounds???! Owie... Is Mallory pleased? (Our Evie (my great niece) loves her baby brother and graciously said that my nephew and his missus could keep him.) You must be over the moon, NN. When do you think you'll see her?

New pup for My youngest son, its such a bundle of cuteness, it is a little border collie and his name is Stark. He has one blue eye and one brown eye. I haven't met him yet as they live in Norway.

Gorgeous...but then I don't have to clear up the tissue! I can't remember who told me but dogs with one blue and one brown eye are said to have one eye on earth and one eye on heaven. Might even be an Inuit thing.

When I was a kid we used to have an old lady whose eyes looked in different directions. It was always difficult keeping steady eye contact with her as you kept looking over you shoulder thinking some one was there. My Dad used to say she had one eye on the pot and other up the chimney. You don't see it nowadays as thankfully they can correct it at a young age

I have a lazy eye. It would have had to be operated on when I was three and that was too risky back then. Over time, I have learned to look at people on an angle instead of straight on, because I got sick of people saying: "Do that again," about my off kilter eye. I think it doesn't even do it anymore. Or I am so used to compensating that it never shows. It used to be really bad when I was tired. Or angry.

I had a lazy eye when I was a kiddie as well Diane, I had to wear glasses with a patch over the good eye to make the lazy one work. Must have been a good cure as I will be seventy two this year and still don't wear glasses even for all the close work I do.

You reminded me about the patch! I wore one! And glasses with bifocals at age five on. My grandma told me that if I just wore my glasses until I was 13, I could stop wearing them then. So when I was 13, I took them off. Got away with that until I was 40. :) Probably worked because I am far sighted - so I didn't crash my car into things, etc. Reading - just held things out at arms length. But at 40, bam. Couldn't fake it anymore.

I realised a few years ago that my arms weren't long enough to be able to read any more! Got away with glasses just for reading for a few years, but have varifocals now. Don't like them at all, but can't cope with 2 pairs of glasses and switching them constantly. Tried contacts a few months ago - gave up on the first day. Took me half an hour to get them out and couldn\t see properly with them in! Big fail!!

Yes it certainly did Kate, its so good to have the house full of your children and the grand children. Still waiting to be able to see the other two its amazing how bitter some people can be. I have lost my knit/crochet mojo at the moment, I think the before Christmas rush took its toll !! Ive made three blankets this year a Yoda baby lovie and the Kangaroo but that's all. More into the out door stuff at the moment, so good to get out there in the sun xx

My niece sent me a video of my great niece Evie waving a stick of rhubarb (complete with leaf larger than her) and bellowing 'ROOOBARB!!'. Potential gardening presenter? On the other hand she also sent me one of Evie with a very dark upper lip and accused me of indoctrinating her with Queen music. I don't think Freddie's moustache was made of blackcurrant jam though.
I'm surprised your fingertips aren't in tatters with all that crotcheting, NN! Must be lovely to make so many people (and cats) happy with your talent; Kangaroo evidently went down a storm!

I read today they're looking at amending the Children's Law to give grandparents rights to see the children. I'm sure they tried to do this before, but then it takes such a long time to bring in amendments to the law. I'm still not sure how it'll work, but maybe it will make a diffence.

I think that after being with my son and seeing all the stress, money and heartache he is going through with the courts has made me rather cynical to be honest. Its a case of forward a step then back six. This has been going on for five years now. The courts seen to just let the mother do as she wishes and boy is she toxic, and unfortunately the kids are turning out just the same.

My nephew went through the same - he chased his ex through the courts and every time he got anywhere she would move and it would all start again. In the end the courts told her if she did it again they'd put her in prison. So she stayed where she was - in Wales. My nephew used to get the train from the Midlands to Wales every other weekend to pick his daughter up, bring her home for 24 hours, and take her back. Cost him a fortune but I so admire him for doing it. Hopefully when she's older she'll appreciate what he did for her. The courts do always side with the mother though and it's so unfair. I hope one day he can get a resolution.

Travelling from Norway once a month straight from work and its always more expensive at the weekends then having to hire a car to get from Gatwick up here, Then asked what have you brought us then told to clear off and kill yourself by a nine year old that refuses to get out of mothers car is just heart breaking.

How terrible NN. Their mother should be ashamed of herself for allowing that situation to develop. A 9 year old doesn't think things like that up themselves, they hear it from the adults. Perhaps when they finally become adults they'll realise the truth, but the way they're being brought up it's unlikely. So sad and explains why there are so many vile adults around too.
