    :037::037:Egg Man here,

Thank you for all the welcomes, I will soon get to know you all by name like my wife Frogdust does. I know that she has told you all about the silkies, and I am working on getting some good pictures of them. We have a webcam on a very short cable so it'e a matter of either aiming the camera out the window and hoping the yard birds with do their thing and walk in front of it or bring the slikies in the house one by one and to a photo shoot... Slikies on parade... a fashion shoot for silkies. and not the kind you wear... woot... (at least on on camera any ways). Darkness falls on Texas early (about dark time) and the sun rises early too. (One wonders how one sleeps??) so this is short.

I am the Egg Man... :037:

My maths teacher at junior school is directly responsible for my not being allowed/good enough to take maths o level, he scared me so badly. I woud suggest that if people don't like kids, they don't teach. I don't, so I don't!

One of our teachers at Secondary school went round boasting that "he didn't like kids, so one strike and you're out, straight to the head!" and he meant it too, it didn't matter how small the offence was...

And my drama teacher is the sole reason i dropped Drama at AS and didn't carry on to my last year of school. She gave her 'favourites' the big impressive roles, whilst we were left with rubbish roles that we weren't able to do anything with :-\

Then there was my science & form teacher who got sacked for all sorts of dodgy reasons...we weren't allowed out at break time for weeks because the press were waiting to ask us questions :)

Grrrr, teachers! I could rant about them all day :P

Teachers are one of human kinds greatest resorces . They are under aprisheated and under paid. They have our little ones 8 hours out of the day 5 day a week. A good loveing teacher is a very powerful person. They can inspire them to greatness, and bad ones.............can stunt and twist a other wise sweet soul.

I think so, unless anything else turns up! I need to find a uni where I can train to be a Primary school teacher for my last (4th) year at uni though, as Keele only does Secondary

Why not set your goal a little higher and stay at Keele for secondary school training? The status and pay is better too.

I was training in Art and intended to get into the local Secondary scool just under construction as it opened.
In my third year I got pregnant and left to raise my family. Never took art up again and only draw now to design projects. In fact my life's route was turned round at this point.

Secondary school teaching no longer appeals to me - after going to Parkside i've been put off for good when i saw how horrible the kids were, minus about two hard-working ones in a year :P

I'd like to work in a Primary because things aren't quite as rigid there as a Secondary either. There's room for you to bring your own projects and ideas with you (although not as much as their used to be, granted) - as long as they're 'safe' and educational. I'd like to have a pet in the classroom like we did in Primary (Giant African Land Snails don't bite and are easy to look after ;) ) and possibly have a project hatching out chicks in a 'bator if allowed, planting sun flowers... *shrug* I dunno.

Wow, so you're a bit of an artist Ollie?!

Not really an artist now. I always prefered drawing to painting, architecture especially. I like drawing plants too.
Crafts are another matter altogether, I specialised in pottery and was good with the wheel.
If not working out some project or other the only drawing I only do now is rare but will be of some action I have just seen.
eg., I did one of a student doing a mime of a catastrophic haemorrhage. She was jumping about all over the place and it stuck in my head so I put it onto some scraps of paper. That sort of thing.
My daughter uses her artistic skills to design structures. She has just done her daughter's bedroom fittings. Last year she designed the new offices at work and made sure the workmen did it properly too.
The whole thing runs in the family. Only one who didn't - my Mum who would say "I can't draw" Then in her late 60's tried and found she could!

we sure can get green chilies here Frogdust, please put the recipe up. Don't be sad it will give us the challenge to find the things. My sister in law had never had rhubarb untill she came for a vist, she loved it and when she went back to Texas she hunted high and low for some asked all the family until someone managed to track down a tin of it for her in New Jersey. We grow it here in the garden.

    O.k , O.k ! Your getting real close to where I live!
We were stationed at Ft Hood ( Killeen) it is in the dead center of Texas. In the hill country. now I live about an hours drive(100 miles) south of there.
Dallas is North east of here and Killeen.
It is a small farming town about 10 miles out side the city limit of The capital of TExas (Austin)
It is called Pflugerville. It was setteled in the 1830's by German immagrents.
My Husband was born and raised in Washington D.C.
So he knows the maryland area REAL well! we spent a lot of time on the chesapeak bay in the summer as newly wedds . his grand parents live there.

sorry to make you wait for a reply I had to wait for Teddy to come down from the bathroom so I got the info right. Jim was stationed at Fort Hood he left about 2001. He works for the govement now.

My Teddy was born over here in England in Yorkshire, and then the family moved to New Jersy when he was little. he lived there until 1972 when he came back over here. The rest of his family all live over in the states.

Ruhbarb is a cool climate vegetable. they only waY we get it is either pay for the exspensive fresh or get it in a can in syrup.
I will have to ask my mom for the resipe.
I do know that it has canned (green) chilies ,(sour cream) , (fresh Onions),( diced chicken ),(garlic), and(Corn)Tortillas. I use one cheat though I use (cream of chicken soup) ! It takes for ever to make the sauce trhe long way and it tasted just as good! I can't tell the difference Now this is a flat enchlada resipie from New Mexcico. this is traditional inthe mesilllia vally were the hatch chilies that are so famous all over the world. it is located about 40 mile west of El Paso texas. IN the vally that Las Cruses ,New Mexcico is located in. Do any of you remember the song by Marty Robbins sang about EL Paso city?
the "Bad Lands of new mexcico" were the yound out law fled to that is were MY mother was born and raised and where i spent all of my summers growing up.

:welcome: to all the new people!

I reckon most of them join and do often come on the forum, but just aren't quite up to posting anything yet. Maybe they joined because they have chickens of their own and will post only when they need to ask a question about their chucks?
