Your tip for the day ladies and gents - if you have to run away from a croc, run diagonally from left to right, because it has to keep turning its head to see wehre you are it slows him down.

1983 - Local Hero. I don't go to the pictures - can't bear other peoples' racket. Must be even worse now with mobile telephones going off every ten seconds - and apparently the pillocks ANSWER them and have conversations as the film is on!!!!

Last I went was to see "2001".

Now that was some time ago. Quite a few years - (30+)

I had just lost my 16yr old daughter and it was a "cheer-up" project by the family..

At the end I grabbed my other daughter and walzed to the closing music all down the cinema isle.

    It was very theraputic....

I didn't realise you'd lost a daughter at such a young age Ollie - I'm glad the film gave you that release.

I think the last film I saw at the cinema was Star Trek (the newest one). My eldest son wanted to see it and I'm a bit of a trekkie so went along. I quite like watching films at the cinema (Independence Day was great! TV didn't do it justice) but I hate the driving there, waiting for it to start, ignorant people around me, far too many adverts, and driving home again. It exhausts me too!

I've recorded a coupleof hte 3D programmes off the TV recenlty, Queens coronation and "the best 3d movie bits" now just need to find the glasses so i can watch them? Any ideas anyone? If I can't find any I may be forced to buy a whole tin of Quality Street just to get a peice of red wrap (think thats fudge) and a peice of green (can't remember what that flavour is). Please help or I'm going to be huge.

I don't wish to be within handshake distance of snakes. I'm sure their Mummy must love them, it is just me. I don't hate them but I guess I don't love them. Not that much.
Cockroaches - now them things are evil. My Ma used to wage a one woman war against them on a daily basis when we lived in Kenya. Did you know that there are flying cockroaches as well. Bleurgh.. as CC says.
Animals - like them all but but I'd have to consider who I gave house room to. A couple of lions in the house would be just grand. :-)

My hubby is on a riders forum (motorbikes) and so many of them said they wanted to lose weight this year that they've started a thread for it. They've got to take a photo of themselves, in their leathers, holding a piece of paper with their weight on it. Whoever loses the most weight (proportionatly so that the heavier ones don't have an advantage!) in 6 months will get a £50 voucher for a track day.

If you eat 'em standing up, all the calories flow down yer egs and out of yer toes. Medical fact.

Ha ha you do make me laugh CC. The holes also allow my hens to think that my toes are something to be pecked at... ohhh now then maybe they are trying to catch the flow of calories........!!!

:rofl:Oh my I have just had such a laugh and spurted my coffee over my PC. This thread opened at page one and I was having a look at Inits sock then continued to read down while I had some coffee. Ollie was telling every one about her musical cupboards and CC asked if any one know where she could get the funeral march for her cooker door, well it sure did tickle my funny bone and I am still giggling as I write this.

    Keeper of the hens

I like the idea of snow... ;-)

It is lovely to see, but then real life intervenes and you have to get through it to work (and bosses never care whether your road is icy or not), but I still think it's ace.

I must be getting old though as I haven't been sledging yet!

I love the snow and how peaceful it makes everything. However, I don't like having to drive in it and/or rescheduling all my work!

I too love the fresh snow, every where looks so clean fresh and bright. It brings all the birds to the garden for their meals and a drink so I get to see them close up. I dont like it when it is all slushy and dirty though.

I like snow if I'm able to stay warm and cosy in the house, but as Neil says, real life doesn't allow for that. I like it until someone has walked through it - its spoilt then.

Um I have never seen proper snow, only some slushy stuff once. It always looks beautiful and romantic in the movies but I guess it annoys the heck out of you all at times.

Lovely, lovely snow. But then I'm inside, all snug and warm, with no need to go out.... Not even to see to g'daughter today as her school is closed, saves her a two mile trek and back! And her Mum has been told not to go down into the city to work.

I do miss Neil's glowbugs running round the tree. Now even the tree has gone! I'm vindictvely throwing hard virtual snowballs at next door's greenhouse!

My tv satellite dish is snowed up and giving me psychedelic scattered pixels - very pretty.

Enjoy your snow day hibernation Vicki, the way it is going it looks like you will be having a couple more yet.
I am glad you haven't got to go out Ollie, I am lovely and snug thanks to Phillip sorting us out yesterday. I did have to laugh at your virtual snow balls at least you keep your hands warm with those. I am off to check the hens water again in a moment. I am waiting for their sweet corn to cool a bit as I have only just cooked it.

I heard on the radio there was a lot Buxton way Ace and I wondered if you would get an early finish from school. You will be able to have a nice lie in tomorrow as it won't be going away that quickly.
The road slopes a fair bit outside my house and the kiddies were having a fine old time playing out. It was good to watch them having fun and they all gave me a wave when they noticed myself and the cats watching them

That's lovely NN - nice to hear something positive about kids for a change. The kids (well, teenagers) at the end house were building a snowman and having a snowball fight when I got home from work.

I use to like the snow, if I could stay inside and not have to do chores in it. The days of being able to do that are long gone, so at the moment I'd have to vote for not liking it much.

I'm dashing down here to catch NN before she arrives.
Snow here is about a foot or so deep. Roads vary a lot depending on how much they are being used. Mine has had a snowplough a few times and gritter wagon too. There must be someone living down here who is on the council... Next street hasn't had any treatment.
