They've put themselves to bed, Pam - hens are sensible creatures! And so are Neil and Red, not turning out on a night like this...:) If you take the coop tour, you can see the layout of the henhouse, and see how cosy they are once they've tucked themselves up for the night.

There's a discussion thread called 'The Hencam.co.uk Walkthrough Coop Tour' or something like that; you can follow a link on that and it takes you from the Command Centre (!) downstairs through the house, down the garden and into the coop. It's fun...but take a seasick pill if you're a travelsick person! ;)

I had real problems with the hi-spec version, but the lower quality one should work for everyone. Go to the thread that's called 'hencam tour' or something like that (its a sticky by this thread), go to the very first posting on it and click the link. It should automatically start playing. And welcome to the forum!

    Hi Red,
We got quite a lot of snow but it didn't stick, not like Good Friday!!
I have to go to a farm shop for our eggs but it is brilliant to be able to see lots of happy free range chickens. Occasionally 1 or 2 go walk about out of the field and down to the shop or even the road. Everyone likes to see them.
The chicken for sale in the shop is bought in and is Barn reared?
It has just started to snow again but it won't stay.
    Regards
    Pam

I am in the process of planning an extention to the highland hen hoose in the shape of a rasied platform for the hens to lazy in the sun and see the world go by, as the sides do tend to inpede their view a bit and only one at a time can stand on top of the coop as we have found them doing.

We watched a seagull strangling on a star fish once. Three of the five legs down its throat and the poor thing couldn't breathe. A huge crowd of us formed around it on the pier but no one knew what to do. We watched for what seemed like ages. The seagull finally choked the thing down. It rested for about half a minute. Then went over, grabbed another star fish and strangling all over again. That's when this crowd of 20 or so humans looked into each other's eyes and simultaneously realized - this is just the way a sea gull eats its star fish...

Is it true that if you give a seagull fizzy cola it explodes?? :o

If you give fizzy pop to a rat it can kill it - they can't burp. I didn't know a seagull would eat a starfish either but like Jim says, they'll eat anything!
