    Well, I am pleased to announce that the sausage was successfully hatched!!! :boogie: :cheer:

    We had it with veg, hummus, couscous and rice in tortilla wraps :hungry:

    That sounds a real nice meal red. I know you dont eat meat But when I got a big joint of pork out of the freezer I was thinking thank goodness I havent got to sit on this to thaw it out !!!

    We were sposed to have a joint of crackly pork today at out friend's for our anniversary, but her husband was ill. She couldn't get hold of us this morning as we were in church, so when we turned up, she ended up taking us out to a restaurant as the smell of food made poor Steve feel sick! We left him festering in bed...

    Oh poor chap I always feel sick when I am poorly with the smell of food cooking no matter what is cooking. It was nice you could go to the resturant though did you have anything interesting to eat?

    Very nice CC, I always think a bit of red meat sets you back up if you have been a bit under the weather. I used to adore the Belgium waffles.

    It wasa Beefeater...very good, and excellent service even though they were busy. i do find Beefeaters very variable, though.

    Yes they can be last time I ate at one we were a bit disapointed, the steaks were real weird shapes and non to tasty.

    Just wanted to let everyone know that both Boggle and Wart are happy and doing very well!!

    We bought a new plant that was Boggle-friendly...because of his eyes we're not allowed sharp / spikey plants in the tank, so have to use those rubbery wavey ones and take other ornaments out of the tank. We also looked on the 'net and found that Bogs might have trouble feeding because his eyes mean he can't see very well at all (bless him!) so have been trying to help him feed as well.

    Wart seems to like Boggles, apart from when Boggly mistakes him for food and chases him round for a while biting at him :rolling:

    Years ago Red, I used to have a Black moor goldfish. He was in a large aquarium with a lot of other types of cold water fish which is not really recomended. He managed to hold his own with them and lived for many years. He had big googly eyes and was a similar shape to your Boggle. They can find it difficult to compete with the more streamlined fish for food though. I used to put one of those bottom feeders in.... like you use when you are away on holiday so he could always find something to eat.

    I would love another aquarium but Sootz and Sylvi would not leave it alone They would soon work out how to mess about in it as they love water as it is. They both have a paddle in their water bowl most days.

    Oh yes, I love black moors :)

    Yes, we were searching for sinking fish food everywhere within like five mile radius, but none of the pet shops had any...Wart eats primarily off the surface, whereas Boggles picks all the sunk bits when he finally works out there's food :lol:

    Anyway, the one person who had advice was a guy running a stall in the market, who said as a last resort use one of the sinking holiday blocks, because the fish doesn't need to know the food is there as it is absorbed through the gills :o

    We've also found some DIY fish food recipes off the 'net made from veggies and raw fish ( :ack2: ) so we bought some peas and sardines to give them...they're now going to be having two meals a day, fish food and then our food...We're doing this because we found out that when Wart was ill it was most likely due to malnutrition, and after some research we've been told that mass-produced fish food isn't that great nutritionally for the fish so it's better to help them out!

    Nah, one website referred to telescope goldfish as "practically blind," bless him!

    We had some more trouble with the fish; the filter had been making really annoying 'BRRRR' noises recently getting ever increasingly louder, like it was vibrating against something even when it wasn't. By morning it was broken :glare:

    So we went to the nearest Pets At Home and bought a replacement filter and, when fitting it, Lyle discovered a hole in the tube of the old one. The new one is much better - a LOT quieter, much more powerful so there's real movement in the water, and the plug and cable is really long so it reaches the plug socket with ease. All in all a good buy for a tenner! :bigsmile:

    Glad you got your filter problem sorted out. It is a good idea to supliment their dried food if you can. I do with my outdoor fish.

    It seems that most commercially produced animal foods are very poor nutritionally. I know that's true of rat food too. Fish probably eat bits of everything in the wild so those flakes that are sold must be really boring for them! I hope they like their new diet - let us know how it goes.

    As I said a couple of weeks ago, I was looking at the nutrition in cat food and it was abysmal. A wonder our pets survive on that stuff unless they are able to supplement from the wild.

    Well, the peas were attempted to be eaten by Wart who promptly spat them back out, and Boggles hasn't seen them yet :P However they both loved the sardine, and i don't even think there is any left, so that went down well! And Boggle definitely ate some, after searching for a while, so that was nice to see :001_smile:

    We're thinking of giving them veggies and fish every other day, and flakes every day.

    Looks like we have lost Neil and the girls for a while on screen. I read his messge about the equipment being playfull, though I have been watching the girls most of the day.
    Never mind, the forum is still running and as it's weekend not many foks are on here.

    Ollie, forgot to say; Christmastime UK have got a sale on; they sell fairy lights. I got some lovely soft white fairy lights at a third of the normal price. Go on...it'd be rude not to! :)

    I missed the opening ceremony - I love those sort of things usually and they bring a tear to my eye. When I was a child the one thing I wanted to do was take part in the Olympics but I never applied myself to anything to be able to do that, so really envy all those athletes. I prefer winter to summer olympics.

    I saw part of the opening ceremony..I thought it was pretty cool. I've always envied people who could do such things too, Katie..I can't even walk and chew gum at the same time, so I knew it was hopeless to even think about being an athlete.

    No more snow forecast up here so hopefully you will need to wait until next winter to enjoy the sights.

    You are not going nuts Ollie I saw them as well they were real good and at one point there looked like someone big near the lamp in the road as well. It was all tricks of the light through the snow. The cobwebs really made it though as they kept moving and changing shape.

    It sorted itself...I turned it on yesterday and it didn't want to know. So I turned it on again today so I could tell Stuart The Pooter EXACTLY why it was Getting On My Nerves....and it was all right. I think it's trying to send me mad like the baddie in 'Gaslight'...

    I would never shout at Stuart. He is A Nexpert who is able to stop me going into complete meltdown over Bloody Computers. He understands them and talks their language and has never, unlike myself, gone red, sworn or got all shouty at it. He also drives a smart car.

    Ha CC I love computers i built the one i am talking to you on now about 6 years ago they can be very frustrating but all you need is calm and patience and you will always succeed i am self tort they fascinate me!!!!!!!!!! sad aunt i but i am the one that keeps the 2 computers going in my house. :ebay:

    I am fine at using computers but not much use when they go wrong. A friend has a shop so if necessary I take it there. However, we don't download much stuff - i-tunes is about the only thing. I try to be careful what sites are visited too and never use pop-up ads!

    Is degragging a good thing to do then? Never seems to make much difference to mine!

    Me and Lyle had a celebratory day today by going to Liverpool for the day! We went to an AMAZING place called BugWorld ( http://www.bugworldexperience.co.uk/static/ ), which was absolutely fantastic! And we both held a Giant African Millipede, then I held a Thorny Stick Insect and a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, but Lyle didn't fancy those!! :D

    The guy was brilliant at answering my questions about all the insects as well, like their lifespan, living requirements, diet etc. And I'd always sort of disliked cockroaches before and had to force myself to hold them - and now considering one as a pet!!!! Seriously, they are so awesome and the cutest thing ever up close. They sound like the sort of ideal pet that Sid was. We were thinking of getting something similar to a Giant African Land Snail (if not another GAL too); asked my parents to bring a spare tank and heat mat down this weekend - now we have a new idea of what it could be for :bigsmile:

    After BugWorld we had sushi for lunch and next door there was even a milkshake place that was supposed to do vegan shakes, but they didn't have any soya milk in :mad: Then we pootled round the city, checked out some shops, and after tea got the train and bus back home...just got in now and we left the house at 8am!!
    So yeah, awesome day... :crazy:

    I have some ordinary Indian stick insect babies looking for a home.
    Our local Freecycle won't take living things any more so I am stuck with them. Rather a lot. 50 to 60.
    Any ideas will be welcome.
