Neil, is it possible for us to petition/email/write to the council/RSPCA about Elvis (the macaw who flies loose near Hencam HQ, and about whom some fool has complained)? It seems stupid for one idiot's wishes to take precedence over many others. My only reservation about Elvis flying free is that some toerag may decide to pinch him. Other than that, I fail to see how the RSPCA can complain about an animal NOT being kept in captivity!

And is hereby afforded unique mascot status, whereby harming such Council Bird is a felony with a penalty of 3 years in prison, court costs, multiple and as yet undetermined fines.

Additionally, Council Bird shall have the protection of the Volunteer Wazza Brigade at his disposal and convenience.

I agree that Elvis should have the best life possible instead of being indoors 24 / 7.

    Me too!

There's a website somewhere where you can actually create your own petition, and them email it / post it where you want it to go. I'm sure my dad could set something like that up, CC?

All birds should be allowed to fly free! Elvis is intelligent enough to return home to the safekeeping of his home. Keep the Wilsden one free!

Lol that's brilliant, I hope his owner sees this :)

Maybe the local paper would be interested in the story? It's quite light-hearted isn't it?

chappie who works for us is a macaw..
No, sorry strike that... he's a McCall.

Are they similar? This one though is featherless, doesnt fly (I dont think) and is more usually seen here at Raygill, not Wilsden. Maybe he's a distant relative.

Sorry, I know!! But It was the only page I hadnt blogged on. Sorry,

Neil, excellent idea; local radio and press would love the story, maybe even the nationals in silly season.

    Keeper of the hens

He has a pretty impressive cage, but i imagine he likes flying round Wilsden a whole lot better than being caged in, no matter how nice it is. I think it's brilliant he gets let out, and his owner obviously cares for him.

Its like caged hens and free range. All the caged hens wish they could roam free in the country.

They do when they've seen a bit of the outside world, anyway. At least Elvis has toys, food & water and space to fly in his cage. 'Tis nice to see him out & about and enjoying himself though :)
