You gotta love the snow :) Skies not looking very 'heavy' here though, so i don't reckon we're in for proper snow like last time...

Best thing ~ took a different walk back from campus today, decided to see where a road went, and stumbled across a garden with an Eglu and, lo and behold!, TWO CHICKENS!

Yes a Hencam visit is a must ! Here is my itinerary for your part of the world...

Dec 28 and 29 staying in London.
Jan 12 (approx) arriving in Normanton.
Jan 15 Depart from London... to home.

So between the 12th and 15th, I will be making my way to London via a path unknown to me at this stage.
So I am imagining being near Hencam around the 12th, if that suits. Hey, I could sleep in the coop for 3 nights !! lol

Wait... You're staying in Normanton, West Yorkshire?!

According to Google it's only 26 miles from our house :) Or about 47 minutes away.

You should definitely visit us, the only issue is you're only here from Mon-Thurs when I'll be at work. I can try book a day off it would be worth it and it's not like you visit here all the time is it?!

We'll have to sort something out...

    Haha, yep Kate :D

Best thing about today: went for a bike ride when i got back after lectures, and cycled up to see the chickens. Was half expecting them to freak out at the sight of the bike & helmet (my chucks HATE the helmet and my bike, no matter how many times they've seen it) but they actually weren't bothered at all, and when i spoke to them one of them ran over to the mesh and tried to get to me! They're real beauties, and it's nice to have some chickens close by :)

A friend at work told me this morning that she'd lost her favourite gloves yesterday. "What were they like?" I asked, "not black with brownish black fake fur round the cuff?". "YES!" she exclaimed. I'd seen one in a shop doorway and the other on top of a bin. There was no chance they'd still be there today - or was there?!

I went to look. There, in the shop, was the first glove. Had been moved but I just about spotted it. But no glove on the bin. I asked in the closest shop and they said they hadn't been given it, why didn't I check with the town centre management lost property and gave me the number. I called. As I'm explaining to the lady what I was looking for I spotted it - on a wall behind a brick post, just a little bit of fur sticking out. My friend was so pleased! I was so glad to have made her day.

Kate the sleuth - perhaps I should go work with Wazza solving crime!

Best thing:- we just hid the Christmas turkey from a girl in our block! :D

She's being very...um...protective over this turkey (mainly because everyone in the block has been slapping it :ack2: ) and so after she'd gone to bed, we hid the turkey in somebody's room and then made up five different riddles directing her to different places...a lad's room, the girls' bathroom, the boiler room and (finally) our 'social space,' X Block, which is across the road...when she gets to X Block, there is a note directing her back to the kitchen and we will have moved the turkey back to it's original cupboard

Meal is over with (well, saving the pudding until we get back from the pub quiz at about half eleven...) But just thought i'd let everyone know it went very well and tasted absolutely gorgeous - even if we did eat it off the floor!! :)

Me and Jenny were in charge of the stuffing, because everyone else forgot about it and it was supposed to be cooked in the oven for 35 minutes. However, we improvised and microwaved it for 5 minutes, then put it in the oven, and that turned out very well too

All that is left are brussel sprouts and tons of cabbage, because we made 7 pans full!!

CC, I hate it when you say things like that. Now I have to try it and I never buy sprouts (do you think they will let me buy just one?) or coke...

Another, potentially, little known fact - you can use coke (the drink) to clean PERMANENT marker off a marker board. A friend of mine used it to clean the ship's boiler when he was in the Navy.

So - it the devil's spawn the sprout or the cola?

Hmmm, so would it clean permanent marker off a wall, too?!

Try it! I'd love to know the outcome.

Still not got rid of those sleep walking scribbles Red?

Coke does lots of stuff (besides rots your guts) There is a web site some where with it all.

Nope not yet Ollie...came off the door, but not the wall. The cleaner attempted to bleach it off, but all that did was stink my room out...I'm just waiting to get a fine notice now for 'damage to wall' :-\

Just thought I'd say that Chicken Drumstick started a new job in the city (London) today he is chuffed to bits, even though he has a bad sore throat.

Best thing today for me was that Snowdrop layed me the most beautiful pure white 1st egg....excellent.
    :clap::yay_jump:

P.S. When I was doing playwork a colleague advised me that when she was at college her and her friends used to use nail varnish remover to remove permanant pen marks off their tables.

No harm in trying the coke then.

A tin of paint could be the last resort, may need more than one coat. Do it day after cleaner has been so any smell will have gone.

Best thing about today: running round all the corridors at 3 in the morning and hitting people over the head with Panda-Dog :D It was a 'had to be there' moment, but was very amusing. I'll have to take a photo of Panda-Dog, he is amazing!

Yes, Diane, the sprout is the Vegetable of Satan, that's why you have to cut a cross in the bottom of them.

If you spill red wine on a carpet, there's this amAAAAAAAAAAzing trick with white wine - you drink three bottles, and then you can't see the red wine stain.

Best thing - MILLY CUDDLE!!! and saying hallo to the chucks in general

And also being back in a house (feels bizarre!) and having a clean work surface to make food on...I was trying to make a sarnie (sandwich) for lunch and was attempting to balance all the food on the plate so it didn't have to touch the work top...then realised, the work top was clean! :D

My best of Christmas Eve was finding twelve of the the stick insect eggs I have stored have hatched. They seem so tiny, only one cm, after the eight to nine cms of their Mums.

Virgin births too. They are all girls and don't need Dads.

Yes, CC, that will have significant impact on the schools that consider her. Although I believe its more important for some fields of study that others.

    Best of - yesterday...

Had lunch a local restaurant (walking distance) with extended family.
Afterwards, now dark, using our estate's open area to let off numerous Chinese paper floating lanterns - a type of hot air baloon.
Saved some for a clearer night as these disappeared into the cloud base.
