Thanks CC. You're right - I kind of skim along. There are so many posts to take in. I guess Kate is on my default setting. I know I picture a name, written in blue letters (not too helpful), of medium length. So, if I haven't heard from her in awhile - just compounds the problem...

Whew. I feel better. What with menopause looming, I was really starting to wonder if this was going to be my new life

Best of Tuesday - got some hedges cut, next door did his side yesterday and did the top too, just the job.
Wish neighbours on other sides were as obliging.

On the way to work today, while driving through the town of Langley - an OTTER crossed the street in front of me! That's the best thing this WEEK. In the ten years I've lived here thats never happened. The otter had to have climbed a 30 plus foot cliff up from Langley Marina. Amazing.

Got lots of energy today so lots accomplished.
Main one was a little Japanese bridge for the garden I bought 18months ago and today constructed on site and it is lovely. It sits under a red acer tree.
Have plans to put some solar lights under the bridge for a night time effect.

The fox had tried to dig into the coop so I've put a big sign ('Tanks Crossing' if anyone's interested!) under the coop so s/he can't dig any more, and a string of bells hanging in front of the door, which is pinned shut with a heavy iron trough leaning against it. If s/he disturbs that lot, the whole of Marlow will wake up!

I'm glad that O & L, and the bunnies, are super safe. That's good to hear.

I still feel thrilled at the memory of the otter. I've seen them out in the water but even that is rare. And yes, why DID the otter cross the road? I did look down the direction it walked. I think maybe someone has a fish pond & it was going for a fresh water treat... I actually came close to hitting it Kate. That would have been truly awful. Not sure they know to avoid cars. Fortunately it was crossing in a 25 mph zone.

There is a place called Whitby? And an otter was seen walking around there too? Very funny.

Whitby is a lovely very old town on the East Coast UK.
It has a reputation of being the home site of Dracula. A lot of it is very spooky.
I have some fossils we found on the beach at the foot of the cliff.
The otters are in the sea and often near the fishing boats, possibly after fish scraps thrown overboard.

Ar but when you get old and uggerly like wot I am, you need a four inch deep layer of slap before you can go outside the door, lest you frighten small children (which doesn't bother me) or animals (which does). THIS is where Boots comes in with their splendid offers, see. :)

The only reason the shops give 'loyalty' cards is so that they can monitor what you spend your money on. They then sell that information (which is how they can afford to give you the points to spend back in their shop!) to marketing companies so that they know what junk to send you, which people buy their (or their competitors) products, and which products to stop selling (and which to constantly bung in the way everytime you go in the shop).

I took Rachael into town (well, city) to get a dress for her sister's wedding on Saturday. I love spending time with her. Then I got to cuddle Caitlyn when I dropped her home, and Caitlyn gave me a big wet kiss on the cheek!!

I don't have a glad thing, just a sad one. Someone on the rat site has posted that their rat died today. It'd been doing well and getting better, but suddenly took a turn for the worse. I found myself crying my eyes out!! Its all Hollyoaks fault (a UK 'soap'). My youngest and his girlfriend are fans so watched it here, and Max was run over and killed. Danny laughed at me for crying. I still feel really sad - and stupid. Crying at a make-believe tv show, and at the death of a rat in the US. How soft am I?!!!!

    Keeper of the hens

I saw Hollyoaks last night, and it was a sad episode. Didn't quite cry though :P

Poor rat...when we had to take Charles to be put down (first male rat - he had a tumour successfully removed but then something else went wrong, can't remember what i was only little) me and my mum were sobbing our eyes out. The receptionist looked at us like we were crazy at crying so much because a rat had been put to sleep :-\

I don't cry at soaps. No, I lie; I cried when Vera died in Corrie (don't read that, Diane, if you're intent on catching up with Corrie...:) ).
I don't think it's a bad thing to be empathetic with people you haven't met, Kate. I cried when your Joey died...

Strangely, I feel quite comforted that you cried too CC, sorry if that sounds bad!

I cry really easily too. I went to the vets last week and a lady (probably in her 60s) came in with a very hairy, very old and sick looking, dog. She gave the name (through sobs) and then sat and sobbed on the sofa while she waited hugging her dog to her. I felt so bad that I didn't know her to be able to be with her, and that no one else had accompanied her. It brought back the sadness of Joey which I thought I'd got over, but I suppose being in the same place and seeing someone else go through what I did ... so sad.

I choke up very easily too.
Grand daughter was running a video of their club dance show to friend, I made some comment about how pretty one of the girls is, I croaked it out much to my embarrasment. I don't think pal noticed but GD does.

My best thing for this weekend was finding a hairdresser who would cut my hair as short as 'I' wanted.

Why, do you have it cropped really short, Ollie? I should imagine it's far easier to look after.

I had long hair right up to my thirties or forties, then I went with my Mum to Videl Sasoon's school in London and the Japanese (non-English speaking)students in there cut my hair so that none of it was any longer than three quarters of an inch! It was a fantastic cut.
It isn't quite so short now but not far off.
I don't like it on my face but it grows forward and I have to slick it back all the time. Hate using 'products' to control it. So very short is my style.

I think it is so good when 'real people' perform and show their talents rather than the synthetic, mechanically produced stuff that comes via the airwaves.
I can accept that they may also use the 'magic' of technology to enhance their performance but it is real and actual, not super edited.

Monday - finding that our holiday villa has just installed a trampoline with net.
The girls are not being told until they see it.
They are bemoaning that they won't have their beloved tramp while away, despite our own pool!
