Posted By: chief chickenGood news about Lyle, Red; what will you do if the consultant says the blood supply to the leg is compromised by being squashed by a staffy/collie combo?:tooth:" alt=":tooth:" src="http:///hencam_forum/extensions/Vanillacons/smilies/happy/tooth.gif" />

Ugh, it was an absolutely pointless appointment! We were waiting an hour and a half over the appointment time, then the actual appointment lasted about three minutes. The Dr did the exact same thing the GP did, said Lyle would need a scan of his leg, and sent us on our way!! I thought we were going for the scan today, I thought that was the whole point?! Agh!

So Lyle has been told to wait for a letter through the post again, bless him!

Also on her way out the Dr opened the door to the consultation room whilst Lyle was still pulling his trousers up, and stood in the doorway with it open so everybody could look in and see Lyle in his boxers!!! I thought this was terrible but I was laughing so much about it afterwards :tooth: :rolling:

Yes, you're correct CC! Also the hospital can now charge the CCG for a first referral, scan, and at least one follow up appointment instead of doing the scan and sending results to GP, so they'll bring in an extra £200 or so.

You should write to the hospital about the doc Red. You saw the funny side but imagine if that had been an old man who would be mortified. Did they tell you they were running late or just leave you sat there? Again, unacceptable. Sounds like your appointment suffered because they took longer elsewhere.

Ugh, I hope he's not waiting too long for the next appt Kate...

I couldn't believe how unprofessional she was to do that...and no, they just left us sitting there for an hour and fifteen minutes until Lyle went and asked someone how much longer it would be...I might write to the hospital, although not sure whether to wait until after future appts so I can clump all the rubbish things that happened together?? Because there's bound to be more!

Went to the scare park tonight, it was AWESOME! Only issue was that both my wellies had holes in and it was really muddy, so my feet were soaked in seconds *brrr!*

On one of the attractions one of the actors was sending people from the very front of the line to the back, and when he saw me said I'd do nicely and left me, cringing and shrieking, going at the very front of the line all throughout the horror walk!! Don't think I've ever been so scared :tooth:

Haha it was brilliant!! Whilst the rules were being read out on a loudspeaker, we were all forced into a cage about 1m high so you had to crouch down inside. It was pitch black other than a strobe light flashing and every now and then you'd see one of the actors come up to you in the flashing light or feel him touch your hair, it was so creepy...what a great way to start it though!

I THINK she's a cuckoo maran bantam but as the breeder sent me 6 assorted eggs and I selected 3 to put under, could be anything! She did mention cuckoo maran in the initial ad. I had a google of CM chicks and the browny yellow ones are EXACTLY like her. I think I might call her Nugget.

I think she's a she; there's no evidence of a comb at all, whereas on cockerels you can usually see a tiny comb right from go. I don't mind what s/he is though! They took their first walk round the garden today but I had to be on standby to put them back in as Nugget couldn't make the ramp...

Grand daughter Georgie has obtained a place at college for next September!
She will be studying Motor Cycle mmaintenance, her passion of the moment.
All the males on my side are deeply into this, her grand dad especially, worked, played and breathed motor cycles.
I am very pleased that she has settled what she will study. She gets good grades in her school core subjects but doesn't feel any inclination to take them beyond the GCSEs in June.
I consider demonstrating the ability to study being the target, regardless of subject.

I am learning about iPad slow step, by slow step. My ancient brain doesn't function at the speeds it used to do!
    But it's a lovely toy.
My little laptop is so very slow (suspect it's something-or-other speed is rubbish, needs investigating by the sparky brains in the family).

Red will be stuffing the rest of her goods into the van right now. Thinking of her and Lyle and wishing them all the best in their new home. Looking forward to lots of outdoor location and indoor pics once they get back on line.

Kate the only problem I have with the tablet keyboard is that on some websites (hencam especially) some of the punctuation doesn't work so I have to combine the touch screen with the keyboard!! May be different wth the one Santa brings you though ;)

Tried to spend some time playing with Ting Tong but Meow Meow had other ideas! He completely took over, chasing the toy all over the room until he eventually lay panting in the middle of the carpet. Ting Tong wouldn't chase on the floor then (MM is aggressive towards all of the others so they're all a bit nervous around him) but had a play on the settee. I've given him the cat nip rat instead and he seems OK with that. He's a very gentle, chilled out cat, and completely adorable. He's always the favourite with visitors!

Only (!) 6. Emmett who's nearly 19, Meow Meow, Ting Tong and Tabby who're all about 3 or 4, Kitten is 2 and Jenson is almost 2. So that's 2 black and white, 2 tabbies, and 2 tortie and white - 3 boys and 3 girls. Evenly balanced! In reality, 6 is too many, but I can't get rid of any.

Emmett was chosen, and Kitten was encouraged in - I felt a responsibility to her after re-homing her mom - and she is the one I am really proud of as there's been such a big change in her (she's been sitting on my feet for the past 2 hours!) The other 4 have all come to me. I'm pretty confident that they were all strays, but I've never had Tabby or Ting Tong checked for microchips so there is always a chance that, even though they moved in here and are free to go at any time, those 2 may actually have owners. They were both neutered before they moved in so it is a possibility. I'd feel guilty if I'd 'stolen' someone else's cats, but they are free-spirit animals and will choose the most comfortable place they can. If they'd been properly cared for they wouldn't have been spending all day and night outside my house waiting for scraps. (justification attempt!!!)

Aw that's really cute. Yes, I think I remember you saying how fearful Kitten used to be, wasn't she the one you were having trouble catching yonks ago?! That's really impressive that she has become so sociable now.

That's one of the things I'd struggle with so much if we had a cat...I'd always be terrified they'd left for good!!

Yes, that was her! She is wonderful.

My son's mate was here on Tuesday and his mom has 7 cats! I've been out-catted!!!! That night I let Ting Tong out and there was a 4/5 month old kitten outside! Hubby said it'd heard that there was an additional vacancy at our house ... (I didn't let it in, or feed it. Hard, but I managed!!!) I think it might be one of Tabby Mommy's kittens (Mommy lives in the next road).

best: Lyle spoke to a fab GP yesterday and they swapped my meds over the phone, and she booked me an appt next week with a different GP to the rubbish one I saw previously! Huzzah! I'm on six meds a day now, blegh, but will hopefully be able to swap two 5mg into one 10 mg if that makes sense...I hate swallowing pills :ack2:

So glad that's sorted, Red. You'll have to do what we did with our labrador; put the pills in a Fig Roll biscuit and get Lyle to throw them in the air for you to catch in your jaws. By the time you've swallowed the Fig Roll, it's too late to notice the pills...:D

Now that would earn you a fortune on YouTube!!!

Glad you've found a better GP, you could always ask them to do a complete meds review and see if you can reduce the number even further? I don't know how you cope - I struggle to swallow a couple of paracetamol. I suppose its a case of having to though - anyone on multiple meds gets my admiration.

    Thanks everyone!

CC, I think fig rolls are worse than swallowing pills haha! We hide pills in cheese for our pups (although I'm sure they'd prefer fig rolls!)...they've never noticed

Kate, Lyle finds it impossible to swallow pills and actually crunches all painkillers in his mouth!! I don't know how he can stand it!

Thanks Lynn! Well, apparently now instead of replacing a part in the boiler they're giving us a brand new one - hooray! But that means it will take longer...boo! Hopefully it'll be some time next week

We're doing a pub crawl with a friend tonight, it's 9 pubs over about a mile, so a lot of walking involved...and it's supposed to rain heavily the entire time!! Oh good! :rolling:

Had a go at teaching Caitlyn to knit this weekend. I thought she'd be awful at it, but she had a good go and was very patient. She's only just 6 and not the most dextrous of children so did OK. Apparently she still sleeps with The Blanket (and Shaun with The Blanket II) and when she realised this was how I'd made it she decided she wanted to make one for her aunt's baby that is due in about 4 months time. I told her it was a bit soon for such a big project!!! (Crochet was beyond her. Might buy her a knitting dolly this week - think it might be a bit easier and help her to understand it all a bit better).

It really brings it home how long we've all been on this forum when you think it was 6 and a half years since I started The Blanket!!

She's not actually knitting just yet Red, but she had amazing patience (she's usually very flaky when it comes to paying attention). Saying that, after 6 rows she wanted to cast off and finish it!

best: we are off out today to somewhere neither of us knows very well (I don't know it at all, actually!). I'm *so* hoping there will be a pet shop there that will have some dwarf hamsters in or (dare I say it!) some mice...that would really cheer me up, and what a fab early Valentine's gift from Lyle! :tooth:
