    Keeper of the hens

Hey everyone, after tearing my hair out for a few hours, I finally got the new mic system working!

I didn't notice that one of the solder points had lifted so it wasn't connecting properly (and it wasn't my fault - it was a pre-soldered bit), but after I re-soldered it, it works fine!

The new mic is *VERY* sensitive (I'm still playing with the sound levels etc), so should easily pick up both the big girls and chicks.

I suppose I should say that if you ever hear swearing or arguing, apologies, it's either us or someone nearby!

The droning you can hear now is a neighbour mowing his lawn, and the rustling/static noise is the wind blowing the plastic sheeting on the coop - the actual electronic static and popping noises should be banished forever!

Anyway, let me know what you think, and if you can hear a difference :)

Well, you've already heard from the two people with good ears. On my end - at first I didn't think I heard much difference (apparently you can't do anything about the stop/starting that my dial up system causes. lol) But that was only for a second - then, as I was marveling at the new sound, I heard this little voice from my nephew's bedroom (its morning here) say: What was THAT? Simultaneously, his mother walked in from the opposite direction in the house and said: Did I just hear a CHICKEN? I said: Yes. She said: Its a distinctive sound. And left. (But don't worry - she was grinning.)

No, 'twas a heady cocktail of steroids and the menopause. Whoop whoop, ain't life grand... Played the organ in church this morning and it was f...REEEEEEZING, because they'd turned the heating off as summer is here. Hah. Anyway, everyone is cringing in their coats and I suddenly had a power surge and stripped off to my t shirt, flapping to get cool while everyone else shivered. They have now had their suspicions confirmed that I am a card-carrying full-on mentalist.

Argh! How typical is it that ever since the new mic we've had stupid gale force winds - it's even blown a huge branch into a neighbour's garden.

Currently hoping for calmer weather so I can tell how much better it all is... :\

So to cure myself I must balance with good things... Llamas have the most wonderful expressions and their eyes are fantastic!

A lama in a temple has only one 'l' at the beginning - he is a priest.
Llama is an animal. Sounds the same just spelt differently.
I don't think the lama would like to be called a llama, and vice versa.

Some subjects you can just sit down and learn the facts while you listen to your tunes. Those are the ones you will get 100% mark in.
Others you have to think about more. Those are the ones you need to give study time sessions to.

Feels like a lifetime. They did finally decide what to do about the Michigan and Florida delegates though - all of them will be seated at the convention, even though the state parties broke the rule - but their votes will only count as half a vote each. There is no numerical way that Clinton can win unless most of the unelected delegates switch back to her - so that's what she is fighting for. In the process of fighting for that, many of us feel, she is showing up as a 'win at any cost' kind of person.

Hmmm. I don't even know about that one CC. There's so much 'spin' at the moment that it feels like we are all living in a washing machine. So I'm trying to see it as a purification process.

Hey, I took lessons for about a year from a Ghanaian master drummer Ace. Cool stuff.

Alright, as I said in another post - I need to go snooze. Although I hate to leave with all of you one here.

You too Ace. I can't play though. Although several times I've walked by a park in town and my teacher's been out there playing with people and insisted I sit in with them. Stressful. Fun but stressful. I stopped lessons almost a year ago so... Eeeek. Every now and then play my drum though.

I'd love to be able to play drums. Started learning the guitar but quite because i couldn't crack it. Only thing i'm good for is playing the recorder, and even then badly :D

I have a type of conga drum. Its great. Very portable and you can jam with all other kinds of musicians (if you know how to play the thing.) I'm betting there are drummers from Africa where you live who could teach you (and get you a really cool drum pretty cheaply.) Only problem is that the head is made from a goat skin - but you could get an artificial one.

    Really?? I didn't know that :o

Music was my favourite lesson at primary school, and i always used to snatch the bongo drums before anyone else - they're similar to congo drums, aren't they? Wow, d'you have any other musical instruments?

2 mandolins, one wooden flute (from my Great Grandpa), another drum, a drum kit that someone borrowed and then moved out of town with, a tenor sax, a trumpet my parents found in a rental they owned. And a harmonica. LOL

I've also had lessons in (and could, to a certain extent, speak) French, Spanish, Japanese, and Greek.

Can I now speak or play any of these things? No I cannot.

Then I recovered and they give me a free hobnob and they made me go home when I was fine after and thought I was just going to go back to class. When I got home , I was bored so I just went on the hencam forum allll day but nobody was online so I sang and sang to the chickies until somebody came online and erm I missed the marathon in pe !!
