Unfortunately I don't have green hair anymore...the dye was so old it washed out in like two washes...I did however decide I wanted bright hair again, so dyed it another awesome colour...you're gonna like this...PURPLE!
It looks much more purpley in the pics, but they'll have to do

That is a great colour and suits you! I've seen one or two people around with hair the same colour as some famous singer (Rhianna maybe?) It is properly red, like a wig would be, and looks fab! They must have all their natural colour stripped out to get that effect though. I have never dyed my hair - well, I tried a 'Toners' in red once, but it didn't take, so I never bothered again.

We just had a horrible experience...Kasp found what we thought was a dead pigeon, then Lyle said "Scarlet it's flapping." Got him to drop it straight away, which was so good of our dog, and I brought it back to the house in tears...just to make it obvious, bird was already dying when Kasp found it, he didn't catch it.

I've named him Benny, he's only young and is so sweet. On the walk back he snuggled against me and hid his beak in my fingers

He can't walk or move his wings, is just lying there with one eye shut, other a little open. He's very poorly. Why do I always find pigeons when they're too injured for me to help?

We've set him up in the bath tub (safest dog-free place) and put the heating on to keep it warm. Put him on a bed of straw with some bread crumbs, not sure whether to or how to give him water...I know he's not going to make it though...

I don't want to call RSPCA or anything because they'll just put him down as he's "just a pigeon"...but what else can I do? And we're going on holiday with my parents tomorrow agh If Benny makes it through the night I'll get my parents to drive me to Shires Vets with him tomorrow...

He's a gorgeous little thing though, you can't see how special he is from the pictures...

Oh Red I am just like you if i found a pigeon i could not just leave it i like pigeons think of it like this Red he or she is not suffering in a dark and lonely place now it is with you and could not be in a better place!!!!

He has very unusual markings - doesn't look like your common or garden pigeon.

I also couldn't leave it but don't know what I'd do! Have you got a small dropper or syringe that you could offer it some water from? If it can't move, walk, fly, then maybe it does need some help to put it out of its misery. It's the one kindness that we can do for animals that is not extended to humans. Whatever happens it is safe from a terrible death, which is what it was facing before you found it. For tonight at least it is warm and safe, and if it doesn't make it through the night you must remember this kindness that you did for it. Of course, it might just be stunned and you could wake tomorrow to find it flying around the bathroom and pooping everywhere!

Benny passed away sometime between 11.30pm and 12am...we're both devastated, a couple hours after we brought him back we found him standing and thought he was on the up...I should have known shock's too big a thing for birds...

I am heartbroken. We're going out to give him a good send off now

Yes, at least you saved him from being eaten by a cat or something, Red. and you're not alone; i've twice driven pigeons over to Tiggywinkles when other people have said to wring their necks!

I'm so sorry Red, but I think you knew that was the most likely outcome - doesn't stop you hoping though. I assume you don't know what had happened to him in the first place, but at least you knew his death was 'safe' and humane, and he went knowing someone cared.

We had some friends round to stay these past few days and went out last night...Lyle went out as Geek of the Week, and the rest of us spiked all our hair up

To be honest I don't think she's even noticed Lynn Pearl doesn't care about much as long as she has her food and her wheel!! She seemed very happy today though, but then again she did have a wheel in her playpen with her XD

It worked especially well because me and my friends have a joke going about how massive Lyle's head is hahaha!

Lee, it's actually a real skull! We weren't sure why it was there, think it must have come from one of the farming fields which has loads of bones in it...I guess it's from when wild animals kill the sheep?

Actually, I scrolled back to see if I could see Lee's view of it, and I could! It's an optical illusion picture-if you super-imposed a tiny picture of yourself, say as big as a tooth, it would look like a ginormous skull! That's fab Lee, well spotted!

It was Joe's 13th birthday the other day. He went raft building at Doe Park with his friends, then had family round in the evening and stayed out ours' for the night. We've also said we'll take him to the Russian Restaurant for a meal for his pressie too (he had a choice between that and the Moscow Circus)

Here are some photos from his birthday when we got back to ours'...they're mainly of Lyle and Joe wrestling (the dog wanted in on the action too )

A bit of Tesco wrestling now, and Lyle's new best friend! It was a gorgeous little calf...the adult cows in the field all had two tags in their ears; one was a number and the other was a name! One was called Bianca

Our last batch of dog treats too...including new large bones and christmas trees!!

Chip is my Aunt and Uncle's dog (well my Nana's brother, but I always call them Aunt and Uncle). He's 11 in December, is grossly overweight, covered in harmless cysts, had to have some teeth removed and he's still absolutely gorgeous. He only stopped acting like a hyper puppy-dog about a year ago

He is also our main tester for healthy dog treats!

He is lovely, they adopted him as a tiny puppy and because I wanted a dog so much they always said he was half mine...in fact, wait a minute (think I've posted this before hehe)

There are 4 of them, button (cos she has a button nose) is the one sitting on my shoulder in the top pic, Polly ( short for Pollyphobia, meaning fear of many things ) is the shy speckledy, Bussle ( because she bussles her way to the front ) is the White Sussex and Amber is the one with the masses of red around her neck and chest.

Polly probably saw the camera and hid until at least 2 of the others had checked it was safe, I think she was in the hen house. I've been amazed at the completely different personalities that are so evident.
Do you plan on having hens ?

Thank you, we had the hen house from chickencoopsdirect.com a good price and fast delivery but had to do a few alterations due to screws being too short etc, we've extended the run another twice since the pics were taken

Ha, that was my tomboy stage...which hasn't really ended to be fair

Your girls really are lovely Mac; I think maybe Amber is my favourite, she has even more orange than Penny It's great they're so friendly already too. Good job on extending the run, it looks fab!

Thanks Red, I can't believe how quickly they've let me in to their little flock, I have my first coffee of the morning with them all gathered around and then one when I get home from work, Button literally runs toward me with her wings out for balance, she reminds me of a little boy with his arms out playing aeroplanes lol

I love their names (and the reasons behind them) and the sheer pleasure you are getting from them. No, I don't plan on getting any - my garden isn't really suitable and to be honest I don't have the time to give them what with work, grandkids, housework, volunteering and love of TV! I don't think it's fair to have animals if you can't give them the time and attention they deserve so for now it's a big no-no.

I volunteer at the Birmingham Cat Protection rehoming centre. My nan used to say "where there's muck there's brass" and if the amount of cat poo I wash away is anything to go by I should be rich by now!!! It is a good excuse to fuss loads of wonderful cats though (and occasionally dodge a few well-aimed teeth and claws) but I love it. Best morning's work I do!

Chickens are wonderful pets, people just don't take the time to get to know them..I guess if they did, they wouldn't want to EVER eat one again.

You're not wrong, I honestly thought the hens would just sort of be there and we'd look after them, but they are 4 very individual little ladies, their habits and personalities are so varied and because they are still so new to me i'm learning more and more each time I sit watching them.

Yes, they're absolute time-wasters, aren't they? But very soothing to watch. My new sablepoots, Trinny & Susannah, are hilarious - they have discovered a suntrap in the early morning and spend a lot of time balanced on the dustbin lid!

Do they have the personalities of Trinny and Susannah?! We'd all love to see pictures of them but understand how technologically useless you are CC. Take photos and next time someone visits ask them to upload them for you!!!

They bustled out of the box and were immediately charging round the garden looking at everything and the implication was 'We're pedigrees you know, fraightfully posh and are slumming it here. That ought to be over there, that should be painted, I'm not going near THAT, what on earth is that supposed to be?'So I thought of two supercillious posh birds, st voila! Trinny & Susannah.
Treacle the rabbit has unfortunately rediscovered the joys of Chicken Skittles and now has two discrete groups to charge through, eliciting satisfactory squawking and fluttering. When/if the two groups eventually start speaking to eachother and associating, she'll have one big group to scatter. Dunno if that'll be more fun or less...

Oooooh CC new hens how eggciting they sound real lovely could you take piccys and send them to Neil to put up for you like you did with Littlebeak ?? Mine went into two tribes when I got Baby Blue and the speckly sisters. They come together eventually also that way they didn't squabble much which was a blessing.

What color are they, CC..over here we call them Millefleur, but there are several colors of them. Lavender, white, Lemon..what color are they??? They are darling chickens by the way..no matter what the color. I wish you could post pictures.

We changed our recipes today so our biscuits are now wheat, gluten and dairy free (they contained gluten before) which is fab...these are our Butter Bones!

You should definitely come to West Yorkshire, and meet the girls! If the weather's anything like this we could have another BBQ You could meet Kasper as well, with Dodger!! Although we'd have to be do it carefully so he wouldn't be scared of you!

Oh yes i just remembered Kasper does not like men does he so i would have to be very careful Dodger gets very excited when he meets other dogs,i think we will defo come to Yorkshire next year.

Heh he's not a fan of certain men, the ones he deems scary...if they have a dog and we meet them out on a walk, he's fine. In fact most men we meet outside he's fine, it's when they come into his house...usually if they sit on the couch and don't look at him, or give him treats, he comes around though bless him.

Oh Kasper was like that with other dogs when we first got him, just sooo excitable, he just had to run and see every other dog in the world!! He settled down around 12 - 14 months old and is very polite now...better Dodger be excited about other dogs than fearful or aggressive, I always say!

I'll bet Kasper would love to play with Dodger, as long as Dodger likes to play chase and a little rough - boxing is one of Kasper and Snoop's favourite games!

Oh yes Dodger plays with dogs that knock him flying !! he just gets up for more,clearly though when your out with other dogs some are not friendly at all the owner has them on a lead and some have muzels on so quite a big clue to stay away.
