The first pic is like 'where's Wally?' Red but it's where's Kasper? instead.

Look at those tall angry trees in the second pic they are about to uproot themsleves and take off on a long march! well that's what I think anyway:face-devil-grin:

the third pic has something as simple as a sign post but see the contrast between the man made shaped post and the natural trunk of the tree next to it, really interesting.

the last one with the refelction in the water is really effective, I love that.

The parent or a baby? Maybe she's sitting on eggs and can't chase you off so is trying to scare you! Does the RSPB web site have a forum or contact page you could post a question on?

I still can't tell if you are an elaborate troll or what, but far and away the easiest way to help any wild bird sitting on a nest with eggs is to leave it the hell alone!

Even if there was something wrong with the bird (and why would there be if it's managed to build a nest, lay eggs, and sit on them for x amount of days?), what would you do to help? You're probably doing more damage disturbing the nest.

Yeah., There's Kasper playing King of the Kastle.

That "Sea of Pink" is just like my front garden, same Rose Bay Willow Herb. Though my meadow is a much smaller clump with a Stag Horn Schumack and a mature Acer overhanging, just about filling the space. Then a tiny area of seating, past which is a very narrow mown grass path squeezing through to an eany, weany, glade where the fairies hang out...

Sorry no pics. Fairies are very camera shy and I don't have the equipment any way.

    Oh yes, Neil.
When I first came across the Cottingley faeries (Google to see them)I couldn't understand the location.
There is another Cottingley close to me which was included in my patch as a Community Midwife. It is not a pretty country place but a rather large grotty Council estate, high rise and all that stuff.

No discrimination here by the way. I live on a council estate myself (mostly bought out now) that has it's grotty parts too.

We had a glorious walk to the Stone Jetty today with Zoey. Here are some pics of the beach and the statues on the jetty. There are loads of statues and puzzles, all of which are bird related.

The mountains across the bay were really clear today, it was the clearest I've ever seen it. You could see layers and layers of mountains, all different distances away, and one was even covered in snow! It was beautiful.

Hahahaha yes Kate I can give you details for a house that will be empty from early December....

Sunny frosty days are my favourites Lynn, we have had some lovely walks these past few days.

We had sleety rain driving back from Scarlet's the other night - and there was a slush covering on a footpath for a few feet, other than that, that's it for now but we've had a couple of frosty mornings.

I hate the snow now - must be getting old :)

Guess what guess what?! WE ARE PICKING UP SOME MICE TOMORROW!!

I can't wait! We are getting two or three girls, not to live with Yuki as she is happier on her own, but to live in Cassie's old cage (she has moved into Titus'). Three mice in a 1 metre cage they are going to be in heaven!!

I found an ad from the breeder 3 weeks ago, and thought it would be a long shot, but we contacted her anyway and she has a latest litter available! 7 females ready to go... :D

We are picking them up tomorrow, squeee!

I've added a dog food bowl into the cage. Its an old one we don't use, and hollow underneath so the mice can use it as a tunnel. Fills out all the empty space nicely...I am so excited! Sounds like there are some really adorable colours in the litter.

I can't sleep I'm so excited! Its a shame I won't be able to share very good pics of them due to the laptop being broken...

The colours are: solid brown, solid white, solid grey, grey and white and brown and white...squee!

I've already got three names chosen (just on the off chance we end up getting three...haha). Knowing me I'll probably choose different names anyway, but so far I've decided on a brown mouse called Bronte, a grey / grey and white one called Tala (Tah-la, means wolf) and Fu, not sure what colour Fu will be...

These three are going to look so much different from my last mice, which were show mice, it will be nice to have standard fancy mice again...I do love my meecers!!

    Keeper of the hens

Well, for the first time ever some of my pre-chosen names were used!

We picked the meecers up no problems. They aren't actually breeder mice, they're from an ooops litter it sounded like, so I still don't know any breeders in the Lancashire area...

They are sooo adorable!! Bronte (solid brown) is the cutest mouse I have ever seen! We named the white one Tala, and changed the grey and white one to Lola. At the moment they have finished exploring their new home and are stuffing their faces haha, which is good as they're underweight.

It was so hard choosing these three, but I'm really happy with our (okay, my...) selection. All three have been well handled and are very inquisitive. Tala fell in love with Lyle and kept escaping to sit on his shoulder

Oh my bob they are still eating!! I put in two large handfuls of food (that's enough for a *lot* of mice!) and they have eaten it all...! Think they must have been half starved?!

Also, I'm thinking of changing Lola's name to Lacy. Hmmm.

*edit to add* Yes, she's a Lacy

The girls are still eating frequently. I'm worried they were actually starved. I'm also 99.9% sure they all have respiratory infections, so it'll be straight to the vets on Monday. We're going looking for some easier substrate on their little lungs tomorrow. Fun times...

My poor babies. At least they will get the nutrition and medication they need here.

They are beautiful! I'm sorry they're sick, but once they start to eat properly they'll get healthier, and some anti-biotics should help. Watch out for that mould if they're having respiratory problems.

Are you sure it isn't the mould which has given them the wheezes, Red? You would have noticed if they were ill when you collected them, wouldn't you?

    Keeper of the hens

No they were definitely already sick...stupid me listened to the owner when she said it was them 'talking' to her, but I recognised the sneezing and wheezing almost immediately at play time. It wasn't talking / bruxing at all...

I spoke to a vet today about how the damp would effect already ill mice as i was quite worried, and Lyles' parents have said they will take them. The vet said the damp shouldn't be a problem providing they are in a different room, but to definitely not keep them in the same room whilst they are ill (not that we'd keep them in there anyway). We also have an appt for Monday for some meds.

The mice are now on shredded newspaper as a bedding, which Lacy adores and is having the time of her life burrowing! We picked up some new toys too, including a 29p toast rack, although Lyle has managed to lose one somewhere...

    Pics to come!

Only got two of Lacy (in the orange tube both times), she's such a shy baby!

The first two are Bronte, followed by two of Lacy and two of Tala

I really hope these babies make it...

Here are the extras we bought from one of our favourite pet shops. These are all to hang from the bars of the cage. The most expensive one was £2.99 and the cheapest was 99p. They're all either dog or bird toys.

We were going to get them from Home Bargains as they usually have everything I'd have wanted, but the one here is terrible and didn't even have any dog toys nevermind ropes :beaker:

It was only £40, cheapest cage of a decent size around. It's only negative is the small door, but that's easily solved by lifting off the wire roof when you want to handle the mice. The bar spacing is also 0.7cm wide, which is even safe for ittle baby mice!

All in all I'd rate it 9/10, very good cage

Lynn, it's funny, they love that pink house and are actually sleeping in it as oppose to a corner of the cage under a pile of shredded newspaper...I only bought it as I couldnt find anything else I wanted from my favourite pet shop

We've had a right time of it here after bringing home an unexpected addition!

We swapped Ruby (remember the little runt we brought home a few months ago?! Hasn't she grown!!) from her cage into the spare RUB the mice were in. She's settled nicely, we just need to get her a few more toys.

Then our new baby went in her old cage which Ruby had outgrown...

So say hello to Quasi, a deformed Russian Dwarf hamster! The pet shop owner said as soon as I went in he had someone to show me...poor Quasi had been there a month and nobody wanted him because he's special!! So he had to come home with us didn't he?!

    No more pets now!!:face-angel:
