Kate one of my main dislikes are shopping trolley handles, they always seem sticky and yuk, I can not wait to get home and give my hands a real good wash.

    No way that's crazy Kate!!

NN we bath him a few times a week & he loves it haha! It helps to keep him hydrated & encourages pooing too :tooth: He's very cheeky, & amazingly aware of his surroundings. He gets excited when I go near him & always comes to sit by the front to watch/listen to me. You might like this video of me hand feeding him bugs!

And extra photos...he cracks me up when he's eating :rolling:

Thanks for the feeding Video Red, how nice he feeds from your hand. He has such a comical look as he chomps through them I could imagine the crunch sound He certainly eats well I see you were giving him vegies as well. I knew they ate hoppers and insects but didn't know they ate greens as well.
Your little kittie is a cutie pie she has such beautiful eyes. Have you three cats now ?

CC I have no idea...3 litters of mice on the way & Moana paired with Murf, I imagine it'll be doubling soon anyway :rolling:

NN yeah it's really cool being able to hand feed him...he's not at all like Chie, he's very cautious & double checks you're holding food before shooting his tongue out!! Yep three of the little sods now NN :tearhair: :rolling:

Here's Kai enjoying some fuss :heartsabove:

And here's some photos showing how he's gained weight since being with us! He looks so much better now

First pic taken today, second within a few days of his arrival - his belly's wider than his head now (: Looking good Kai!

    Keeper of the hens

Some cute lizard pics for ya; Kai, Chie & a new guy - say hi to Gimpy the oscellated skink!!

Bit of a story here - we were supposed to be getting an Asian Forest Scorpion, but the company didn't have any in stock. We phoned our local exotics shop up (yes, actually a good exotics shop fairly nearby!!) knowing he doesn't sell scorpions, but asked what other inverts he had in. Nothing caught our fancy but we got to chatting & he said our setup would be perfect for an oscellated skink, which just so happens to be a lizard me & Lyle have loved since we first started dating & saw some at a zoo!! And it was cheaper than the scorpion too :rolling:

He's an amazing little guy, I only had a brief handle as I was moving him across & he feels so smooth and polished!! He glides through sand too; tucks his back legs in & moves like a snake!

And the last pic is Chie in her temporary home, which is actually a hamster cage hahaha - she's being upgraded to a 4ft vivarium this weekend!!

I've never seen anything like that skink - it's beautiful! Will it live with the others or do they all have to be kept separate?
The birds look like ornaments - I had to look closely to spot them!

Lovely pictures Red and I love the birdies in the tree, It must be so nice for them to have different things to try out and explore, they are so inquisitive. Kai certainly seems to enjoy his food I didn't realise they like fruit and vegies I thought they just ate bugs, So lovely to learn about these exotic little beings. Your new chappie looks amazing not sure I could cope with scorpion be as bad as a spider to me ugh.

    Keeper of the hens

He is very snake-like CC, & also uses his tail as a whip for defence

Kate they all need to be kept separate. Primarily this is because they will attack each other, but they also all have different care requirements! For example Gimpy (skink) needs to live in loose substrate to bury, but Chie & even Kai must not live on loose substrate as they could eat it & become impacted. Kai eats salad, whereas Chie doesn't, & they also have different lighting & heat needs!

NN he loves his salad, almost as much as his bugs!! He can only eat certain things though, & needs a varied diet, so it takes some planning  Surprisingly only 30% of his diet is insects, the rest veg. Now he's at a good weight his schedule will be bugs one day, salad the next, day off food, repeat!

CC Gimpy would indeed drop his tail if he was grabbed by it.

Posted By: nanny northLovely pictures again Red, Do you still have the ferret and the Quail ? I loose track of your animals you have so many xx

The ferret we rehomed to someone who had 3 other ferrets he could be with, as he hadn't been socialised properly...it's expected all ferret kits nip (which we expected!) but it's supposed to be similar to a puppy's mouthing...unfortunately Fabian had no bite exhibition due to the missed early training. So he'd break the skin & he would bite CONSTANTLY, & training progress was minimal at best. Now he bites his brothers & lives in a converted aviary...I haven't had an update since his 2nd birthday, but he sure seemed happy :tooth:

And yep we only had one quail that lived full life, as the other kept breaking her wing (it wouldn't set so she had to be PTS). But the other lived with a variety of our birds (budgies & kakarikis :rolling: )

My eldest son keeps ferrets Red He says they quickly revert back to the wild. He does use his for hunting rabbits and they are well used to handling. They are getting quite old now but still looks so young and have beautiful little faces just like little teddies. One of them is such a sweet little thing and just adores attention and so far hasn't nipped once. Yet he has another that just lives to bite every one as much as possible.

    Keeper of the hens

He wasn't aggressive at all, he just didn't know his own strength!! We even tried to let the cats teach him bite inhibition on the recommendation of a ferret trainer (apparently cats & ferrets can be great at teaching each other stuff!), but he just terrified them :rolling: They wouldn't go near his cage after that!

I love the idea of ferrets, but Lyle doesn't want to consider them ever again, so we'll stick to mice :tooth:
