i jumped off a cliff, and got my frend to throw my board down to me, unfourtunatly the wind blew it back onto the cliff face **EEEEK!!**
it only got cracked, but i took it out the next day and just got really damaged in large surf.
its okay, coz i needed a smaller board.

    thanks Lynn

what is a "Antipodean custom" ?

I did it because i can i suppose lol oh and all the good waves are out the back, so its quicker to just jump of the headlnad rather then paddle out there

Im not sure how high it is. i will have to measure it next time:smile:

You'll have to count from when you jump to when you hit the water and see how long it takes. I hope this isn't "tombstoning". There's been a lot of that over here lately and young men getting killed or paralysed for a momentary thrill. So sad. I hope you're careful young man!!!!!!!

There was a cartoon in Private Eye of a Headmaster saying to the assembly 'This is Pete; he's come to talk about the dangers of tombstoning.'
And beside him is a grouchy looking teenager concertinaed into a short grump...

Peter! You know it was 16000 feet.

It tombstoning the same as a canon ball? Where you jump, curl in a ball and try to make as big a splash, as close to your friends, as possible?

    Canon balls hurt too much!!!

not entirely sure what tombstoning is, im sure we have a different name for it down here,
The most dangerous thing where i jump would just be sharks, as there are no rocks, or crashing waves.

LOL Diane, thats a good one

Tombstoning is jumping from great heights into the water, as far as I can discern. They often hit rocks and hurt/kill themselves.

I hate heights too - and water. I crossed the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge in Northern Ireland. Its many many many years old and goes from the mainland to a small island. Its not very long but it is just rope and crashing sea underneath. The weather was awful and after we went across it they closed it to anyone else as it was so dangerous. We still had to cross it to get back though!

Maybe its on cable - I'm too cheap to pay for that. Most Merkin TV is over cable now. All I get are reality shows, cop shows, re-runs and public television. On public tv I get to see my favorite things, usually British stuff. But they also spend about 1/4 of the year fundraising. Other than that I watch re-runs or Netflix.
