My new baby kitty "Dash" will be coming home this Sunday...he'll be 8 weeks old. Can't wait to get him here..the waiting has been killing me. He's still a tiny little thing, but I'm sure he'll grow fast.:face-smile:

He's BALD - what on earth happened to him? Or is he like a Devon Rex which is bald? And his ears...you'd better make sure the windows are shut so he can't fly away...:face-devil-grin: Bless him. What breed is he, Lynn?

Yes I am! Sorry, I have a terrible memory.

Is he a Sphynx? He's very cute Lynn. My friend was telling me all about her friend's Sphynx cat's. She said she didn't think she'd like them, but was pleasantly surprised to discover they have a lovely, gentle personality, and warm, chamois like skin. Will he be indoor, or will you let him out?

Yes, he's a Sphynx , Kate. He will be forever an inside cat, who wears clothes to keep him warm. He has a sweet personality and feels like a chamois when you pet him.:face-smile: A Sphynx is crossed with a Devon Rex. I love my little "Sir Bald-er-Dash".:face-smile:

Will his ears always be so big or will he grow into them? My friend had a Chinese crested dog (bald with tufts) and it was like patting a warm leather sofa! Keep posting pics for us, Lynn - he looks a handsome chap. Can he go out when it's warm enough?

He will always have the bigger ears, CC. I need to teach Dash to walk on a leash before he can go out. We have Bald Eagles that fly overhead several times a day, so I could never leave him (or Chloe) untended in the yard..they would make a nice breakfast.:face-sad:

The name is fantastic! Don't forget his sun cream for sunny days.

I remember you posting last year that people were up in arms because the eagles on a camera (was it the ones we've been watching this year?) took a cat back to the nest to feed their chick. The only good thing is that it's usually a quick, clean kill. Unlike the way cars do it. Take care of your babies!

Looking forward to seeing lots of pictures as he grows. Thinking about it, we've never had a hairless at rehoming.

I expect it's because baldy breeds are so expensive that most people wouldn't rehome them - or might find a specialist rescue rather than a general one.
Can you sneak a pic of him sitting/standing up Lynn, so we can see a bit more of him?

So glad you're feeling better now NN. Mallory is lovely! Caitlyn has grown a lot too. She has a skating competition coming up - she'll dance to 'Be our guest' from beauty and the beast. I've ordered a metallic gold jumpsuit so that she looks like the candelabra, and orange gloves (flames). Not sure how to do a flame on her head though. Can't do a hat it'll fall off!

Jenson 'killed' one of the mice last week - ripped it open. I said he'd 'ripped it's guts out' and Shaun was horrified. "They have GUTS nanny?!" Had to explain. Jenson has almost killed another one-he loves them!

Don't think a cap/hat would work as it'd be hard to fix and her hair is so long I don't know how I'd fix it up. Not good with that sort of thing never having had girls. I'm hoping her coach will have an idea as she did this sort of thing when she was little!

Kate, I hope Kitten will get better fast and you won't have to take her to the Vet again. I have to take my little viper kitten (Dash) to the Vet to get his second round of shots. If he doesn't calm down I'm going to have to have him declawed, even with clipping his claws every 3 days, he has ripped up my legs so bad, I won't be wearing shorts this Summer. My neck and shoulders look like I've been in a knife fight. This is something I DON'T want to have to do and it upsets me to even have to think about it.:face-sad:

She is a lot better today thankfully - still sneezing but not hiding and eating a bit more. Plus she woke hubby up this morning, something she hasn't done for 3 days!!

What is Dash doing to scratch you so badly? Is he playing inappropriately? He might stop as he grows-can your vet give you some behaviour advice? Declawing is such a big and final step. I was told it causes them permanent pain but I don't know if that's true. I think it's illegal in the U.K. Can you retrain him with some keys - every time he tries to climb your leg drop the keys. It should make him jump and associate the two things.

Mine has been fair bad this year Its mostly that yellow oil seed rape and tree pollen that are the worst and there is plenty of then about at the moment. That's a good point NN, maybe the lack of fur around them makes them more 'obvious' too and more likely to scratch.

She is a lot better today - still sneezing but her eyes are OK, she's eating, and doesn't look as miserable!

My rant: my son has just told me he thinks Caitlyn's mom is taking her to Legoland on the weekend of her competition. I don't know who messed up but I've bought her costume, sewed gloves, and scoured the 'net for a hat which I ordered this evening, so time and money wasted. More importantly she misses her chance to do her first competition and pass her level 1.

My last kitty Chelsea, was declawed,(before I got her) as was Munchkin her brother and they had no ill effects at all. Chelsea beat up every cat in the neighborhood, She could still climb trees and other things. You don't take off their back claws, only the front. I'm praying that Dash will calm down as he gets older. He's destroyed several things around the house (like a brand new leather sofa that I only had for an hour, my vase that was worth $400, 2 sets of curtains, and my face, to only name a few.) I've had cats my entire life (70yrs in Sept.), so I'm not new to keeping kitties..even raised Siamese cats. I've just never had one that was this insane. I've already tried yelling at him, the water sprayer(it just made him angry), picking him up and loving on him, giving him time-outs in his crate to redirect him. When he's in a loving mood there isn't a sweeter cat around, but when he's being crazy..just watch your back side. I'm going to give him till after I get him neutered in a few months to calm down. He's a cute little brat.

He is very cute - I love his jumper. Neutering can make a massive difference - but sometimes none at all. Jenson can be a bit like that, very loving but then you get a growled warning and then you're fair game if you try to stroke him! Love him to bits though.
Has Dash got a bit of curly fur? I thought they were a very calm and placid breed-if you've had Siamese then you're well versed with highly strung cats! Bengals are meant to be the most difficult breed, but they're so gorgeous. I love a Tabby!!

Yes, he does have some fuzz, but not much..it's just because of the cold weather and I can't keep it any warmer than it is now, 72° is all I can handle in here and that makes me sweat..I much prefer 69 or 70. Sphynx cats are supposed to be calm and gentle..this kid is a crazy person.

Hubby and son went to a track day in Anglesey today. I couldn't go because I had an important meeting today and colleagues were coming from Bham city centre. It'd taken 4 weeks to arrange. Guess what-none of them showed. They all dropped out one by one, the last one said she wasn't coming at 9.35am for a 10am meeting so it was just 3 of us from our office plus one other. Frustrating because a) we could've had the meeting 4 weeks ago and thecwork would be done now and b) I missed out on a lovely day in Wales for nothing. The moral? Never prioritise work - my higher paid colleagues don't. (Hubby and son had a fantastic day with Jamie Whitham).

(We have been trying to contact some fool from the council and she has been 'out of the office' for ages and all I get is answerphones when I ring each day and leave messages that go unanswered. How do they earn their money?)
Was it a competition at the track? How did they do?

I hate answerphones - seem such a waste of time. Can you get an email address for her? When she doesn't contact you send a copy to her boss / council leader and demand they sort their staff out.

Not a competition, more like teaching you how to ride faster round the track. Hubby has a timer on the bike to get laps but it's not an actual race. Personal challenge to improve your own ability. And fun (if you like that sort of thing!)

We're a CCG not a hospital - we look after the GP surgeries. 8 were affected on Friday. We were told to turn our computers off immediately at 3.15 as it'd taken out every computer in another CCG in 15 mins, and a rumour that a local hospital was affected. Everyone else went home but our team had to stay and check on all the surgeries and make sure they had contingency plans.

Hertfordshire were affected, weren't they? I had a hospital appointment today and did wonder...but actually ended up being seen really quickly and leaving the hospital at 9:20 - the time my appointment had been scheduled for!
    What's a CCG?

Clinical Commissioning Group. They decide what services to buy for their population and who to buy them from, plus look after GPs and everything connected with them.

We had 16 surgeries affected-the most we know about. All of the affected computers have to be wiped and reset-a couple of practices are having to work with just 3 machines. Heaven knows what the cost will be.

Yes but it's what we're there for. I never thought I'd say it, but IT have worked really hard and got them up and running to some degree within a couple of days. They still have loads to do but we're getting back to normal workloads now.

We had several GP practices affected Diane. 2 surgeries lost all of their computers, another 6 lost about half, and then a few others lost a few - enough to make it difficult. They're still not up and running properly. We lost our work printers - haven't been able to print since it happened and no idea from IT when they'll sort it. The press made out it was just a couple of hospitals affected, but primary care took a much bigger hit.

I think you're right CC. Hubby is doing a cycle ride in Birmingham in August - 15,000 entrants - steer clear!

To be honest I think it's just laziness. The kids say they have to do chores for pocket money (not a bad thing) but then she takes it back off them because she "needs" it. They say she doesn't clean up and is always asleep. My son says she was like that when he was with her. We all know it's hard work to bring up kids, but she has every weekend off, and they're at school the rest of the week. Society and the law always seem to think kids are better off with their mothers-I can't believe this situation is unique to us, maybe things will change one day.

Yes - the government and the press have it in for the GPs at the moment. They've picked on the hospitals, A&E, now it's our turn. There was no coverage about how they worked exceptionally hard to keep everything going and make sure the patients didn't suffer.

Oh no CC thats a right bummer, Sootz is a sod for walking over mine and as he is such a large cat. it makes hanging on to it very hard. It dropped to the floor last week and G/N was not amused. it still works but isnt right. He bought me a new one for my B/D so I got to get used to that now. Its windows 10 so a bit different to my old one. I am still managing wth the old one but will have to make the effort getting to grips with the new one next week.

I actually got a whinge, its not really a rant. G/N took me out for a really nice lunch last week, so I made bit of an effort to wear something nice. (I hate getting dressed up when it is hot) I put this really nice denim top on over some cropped leggings anyhow the top had some slender ties to cinch it in a little at the back, they are quite long so I just did a fairly loose bow or else it pulled the top to tight over my belly. Got to restaurant after a one and a half hour hour journey to get there and bee lined straight to the loo and after a wee discovered to my horror the ties had come undone and fallen into the toilet bowl!!!! I gave them a quick wash and wrung them out as best as I could and tried to dry them under the hand dryer. Now my whinge is why when something like that happens is there just a really weak hand dryer that doesnt even dry your hands properly. I could have done with one of those earsplitting jobs that almost blow the skin off your hands. Never mind it wasnt life threatening and we had a superb meal and I guess if anyone noticed they would have been mighty grateful it happened to me rather than themselves and yes you are welcome to laugh I do now !!!!!:face-devil-grin:

I hate those wimpy dryers too - what is the point?! I'd rather have paper towels personally.

I'm glad you enjoyed your meal and made the effort to dress up a bit! I never do that either, so every photo of me I look scruffy. Perhaps I need to go to more high-class places!
