...came home from church to find small grey fluffy spherical thing with black face and yellow bum following Livia around the garden. Looks as though she's not bothering with the other 2 eggs. Now I need a WAZZAAAAAA!!! with a camera and the know-how of how to put pics on here. The poor cats and rabbits are nervous wrecks; they only have to LOOK at the chick and Livia flies at them, wings outspread. Onion simply looks vaguely proud and slightly bemused.

Nope, not in Italics for me either Luke...it's just you :D

I read something the other day that if there are higher temperatures under the broody / in the incubator then there is an increased chance that the majority of chicks will be cockerels, as they can survive in hotter temperatures whereas pullets can survive in cooler temps. How odd...not that that helps you, CC :P

WAZZA - get a picture of Livia too. As she is racing at you, wings outstretched. Just before CC and Eric carry you inside for bandaging.

Yup, I took out the italics code and everything came back to normal. So only Luke saw it. Why is it that this code doesn't work in the forum? Is it just some kind of glitch? I'm talking about <i> ..... </i>

Me and my dad spent ages yesterday deleting pointless post after pointless post regarding coloured font and rainbow coloured text - we have now had to disable coloured font because it was getting ridiculous. We're not trying to be nasty, it just ruins the forum. It's turning it back into the horrible, senseless, chav-fuelled chat room from the pre-forum days :P

Yes, and thank heavens for that!

It's just pointless having a million different posts scattered all around the forum saying "testing?" and "is this multicoloured or is it green again?" - nobody wants to read them, and people get annoyed having to sift through all the spam. If you want to test things like that, you could always use the Whisper thread and Whisper the messages either to yourself or to Vicki...?

At the moment names are "Twigglette" they are very tiny. About 1cm and very thin. I taped up the airholes I had made in their box, was worried they would go through.
Read they don't need holes if the box is opened occasionally for feed and water spraying.

    Keeper of the hens

We used to keep stick insects when i was a toddler, Ollie. Ours had surprise babies, and my parents didn't realise until they'd all escaped through the lid of their tank and were stuck all over the walls!! :)

You can buy plastic tanks that are built to contain both adult and baby stick insects, i use a bigger version to put my mice in when i clean them out. They're easy to clean, cheap and you can get them from most pet shops...Pets At Home sell them. They're kinda plastic tanks with blue lids, and the air vents are very thin...dunno how good they are though.

    CC, you're a genius.

I have a proper tank to put them in but the vents are too big yet. I will have to keep them where they are until they moult.

Oh i see. What type of stick insects are they? I saw on an animal program once and they were HUGE, made my old stick insects look tiny :)

Is it a really sweet baby CC? Do you keep thinking "aahh" when you look at it? Waft those choccy biccies around a bit - Wazza must've lost his sense of smell. We really have got to get you up to speed with photos.

And here here Red - well done on cracking the whip about posting. But don't for one minute think we'll be staying on topic. No sireee!

Kate, don't worry, we can go off-topic till the cows come home...it's all just part of the forum ;)

My son complains that he's never touched a cow - says he's had a deprived childhood.

No relevance in telling you that, other than to wander away from the topic again!!!! :D
