    Keeper of the hens

Hello everyone, i am on for ten minutes again...where are you all??

Theres a scary guy talking to me at the moment so im trying to post on here and tell him to politely get lost at the same time, haha!

Were getting picked up at 11pm, so i should be back at home around 5am :cheer: The chickens will be awake at that time too, so i can go down and see them all...well, three of them i keep forgetting the chicks have gone  Cant wait to give Milly a hug though ive missed them all like crazy!!

Parachuting was really good the other day, too. We got some guy taking loads of photos of us, and we got them on a disk so i will post some of them, unless they are really bad

Kate, i hope you had a fantastic holiday! I love the pic of the rooster, and those rocks are sooo cool!! Hong Kong Phooey :rolling:

Kate! What beautiful roosters. I wonder how many other people take pictures of chickens on their vacations :) Well, I'll admit it - no idea what Hong Kong Phooey means... Just how often are you & Pete in range of a wreck when you go to these things????

Red - I'm assuming Mr Creepy left you alone. Its strange how these guys come out of the wood work when one travels... How was your trip otherwise?

I got Pete to take the pictures of the chickens - my battery had died on my camera - and he said "I suppose these will be posted on hencam"! I'm so predictable. The holiday was a bit rubbish but I daren't say that when Pete's around!

The 'crashing' sidecar driver and passenger were both fine - two other outfits crashed avoiding him. One had a hand injury and the other was kept in overnight just for observation.

Have you never seen the Hong Kong Phooey cartoon Diane?! You don't know what you're missing. Well, missed. It was on when I was a kid in the 70s. Google it and you'll see.

There are stories of shipwrecks all around the island. Some are quite tragic. One, in the 1700s, was about 9 men who rowed out and rescued the crew of a stricken boat. The following day 30 men (including the rescuers) rowed out to salvage what they could - but the boat was carrying gunpowder and it exploded killing 29 of them, and the other was very seriously hurt.

Here's a couple more photos from my holiday. This big guy was standing outside a cafe called "The cat's that" (no, I don't get it either!) waiting for the door to open so's he could duck inside. The man chased him out twice then shut the door!

We have about 30 kinds of gulls in the USA. I wonder what this one you have pictured here is...

Taking into account the red dot on his yellow bill, white head, yellow eyes, white body & tail, pink legs, gray wings - it looks the most like the Glaucous-winged Gull (which actually lives on the west coast of the US.) The black wing tips can be found in the Glaucous-winged Western Hybrid. It looks a little like the Iceland Gull too. And the Thayer's Gull. It isn't any of them, of course. I wonder what it actually is.

Oh - I think we do say that: *Its just a garden variety RP* (as an example.) The word *variety* has to be in there though... I think we use *common* but not as much or quite the way you folks would. If I got asked that question I'd probably say - *average* *typical* or *nothing special*

Fruit cake, the kind with six times as much fruit as flour.
Eaten with a piece of crumbly cheese, like we do in Yorkshire.
    I am drooling......

Plays havock with my digestion though!

    Keeper of the hens

Fruit cake - work of the devil...

In fact I can't eat anything with sultanas, currants or raisins in which means I won't eat Christmas pudding :(

When we're in Cornwall Helen has to find cafe's that serve plain scones for our cream teas, bless her!

There's just something about currants that makes my stomach turn - but I can eat grapes with no problem...

I like fruit cake so long as there's not too much fruit and its not too 'wet'. Mr Kipling makes a nice one!

The Mother Ship makes a splendid Dundee fruit cake. We get one before Christmas - if we've been good. But it's always gone well before Christmas Eve...

FOFL. They are awake Lynn! :D

Also, why is it that things like: *She's a fruit cake* DO translate? Too funny.

I'm with you Neil, I think. Its the texture. Nauseating. I'd like fruit cake. If it didn't have any fruit in it...

Do any of you know Paul Foot? He's a comic from Buckinghamshire who is on *Last Comic Standing* as I write this. He's just finished a vote-off with two other comics and we are waiting for the audience to vote for the winner. The other two go home. One is from Texas, one from New Delhi. I think the Merkin will win (even though I turned it off while she was talking.)

    Paul got the fewest votes.

Papa CJ - from India next fewest.

Texan got 62% of the vote.

    I'm changing the channel.

Don't know him; but he went to the same school as my bruvver! I went to the girls' equivalent in Wycombe. I liked it there...but I don't think they enjoyed having me!

Was it a boarding school CC? My nephews seems to have a lot of fun at theirs... I can't imagine being a school administrator though, housing 100's of teenaged kids!

Good God no; boarding schools here are primarily for the children of the idle rich, servicemen and those who don't like their children much! :D
