We went to a ballon-fest - it was out in the wilds somewhere.
A fantastic experience that went on into the night.
Then we couldn't find our car in the dark! Had to wait till most folks had gone.

On Christmas Day B'ham international airport used to be closed (don't know if it is nowadays!) That meant that balloons could fly through the airspace, something they couldn't do any other time. We lived in a block of flats at the time and used to love standing in the kitchen watching them float past. Much nicer than the bloomin' planes!

I have my friend visiting me from Germany. She will be with me from to-day and will go back on Sunday evening.
I have a MX5 run planned for her on Sunday with the Oxford group. we will do the Cotswolds again. :-)
I don't know what I'm doing to-day and Saturday except to know that I have plenty of grape juice in the fridge. If tomorrow is good, we might spend the day out and about. cooking for 4/5 in the evening on Saturday...but no specific plans.
Might even ring CC to see if we can swing by in that direction...

This weekend, my husband will be playing at the Birmingham Ska Festival on Saturday and then the Ley Hill Rock and Blues Festival in Chesham.

Expect I will be trailing around behind him carrying stuff. Oh, he couldn't learn to play the triangle or tin whistle, could he? Only had to to choose the Hammond organ which is like carting around your granny's antique sideboard only with 4 miles of cables and 2 huge amplifiers.

Deep Purple have a lot to answer for!!!

Yeah for a Bank Holiday weekend. Plan to go cycling with mum on Satrady whilst Gary is at work, then as its a bankholiday you obvioulsy have to do DIY chores, so may well be painting and putting up a fence to hide the shed of the beloved motorbike (you'd have thought I was the beloved wouldn't you - but no that goes to the shiney white GSX-R)death trap on two wheels to the rest of us. Actually sadly wuite looking forward ot Gary having two days of and doing stuff.... lets hope for some :sun:, haven't looked at the forecast yet.

Well, Friday will be rain - hubby has another track day booked (at Mallory). His mate who usually goes as his grease monkey can't make it, and youngest son can't get the day off work, so guess who's gotta go and do the tyre warmers and stands and help to move stuff. Yep, poor little ol' me. And as usual the forecast is for rain and lots of it.

Its unlikely they will Shobhna, there are security issues, as well as not wanting to be responsible for you! I would think your mom will come around before nightfall anyway, unless they're keeping her sedated in which case she'll sleep through. If she wakes up all she want to do is go back to sleep! You need to get some rest yourself too and spend your time with her in the days afterwards when she's more aware. I know you won't rest, but its one of those things we always say!!! SAying that, it never hurts to ask!!

Kate, I'm worried for her and I just want to make sure that she hears a familiar voice when she comes round.

Looks like none of my brothers will be there. Great !!!!!! As usual, cowards, the lot of them much as I love them.

I know she is disappointed that she will not see any of her boys before she goes for her Op. but Mum being Mum, is not saying a single word. I know she if hurting over that.
How do you explain this to the boys?

The one here says he does not do emotion, the youngest one could not get any flights until the very day of her Op. so he will not get here till 9.30 pm. The middle one.....dunno...I don't have a single reply to my e-mails but he does ring Mum every day.

Never mind. I guess I'm stressing over nothing and everything is as it is meant to be.

Added stress.....a good friend died on Monday and her funeral is next Thursday. Her breast cancer had come back and it was expected but it is still not nice. :-( and I miss not being able to chat to her because I used to make a quick call to her most days.

You know what, if someone is testing me, then I think I'm doing fine. I will be qualified with Honours soon :-) :-)

I have decided to take each moment as 1 byte :-) and then I know I can handle it.

An elephant cannot eat a whole tree but it can eat it all branch by branch.

I will have sleeping bag in car....or I might book into a hotel nearby. Have a freind who is prepared to lend me the spare room ....so somehow I will manage. Only if anything was to go wrong, I'd be
1 1/2 hours drive away and that would be scary.

I didn't realise you were so far away from the hospital - maybe if you explain that to them? If worst comes to the worst there's usually a few chairs in a public area that you could take over if you really wanted to. It'd be a hard hearted security guard that threw you out.

Boys don't understand how important things like that are to moms - your eldest one is being very selfish. He might not do emotion but she does, and he should be thinking about her. Even if he just went to visit her the day before I'm sure she'd feel better.

At least she has you. You are doing really well. Condolences about your friend - knowing she will die sometime doesn't make it any easier when it happens. :bighug:

Just me, thought I'd let everyone know. I have posted in the Rant thread but will just repeat to say all went well with Mum's Op. but she is still lightly sedated. She is not breathing properly on her own so they have had her on a ventilator.
To-day they will be doing a tracheotomy to allow her to breath a bit better and to also allow them to remove the tube down her throat. She needs to be allowed to come to and then they will slowly wean her off the little bit of breathing support they are having to give her.

my younges brother arrived on Tuesday night and has been constantly with me but my eldest brohter only visited her on Saturday (4 days after the Op. never mind Eh !!! )

Mum is out for the count so she won't remember who came to see her when.

    getting there....slowly.

Sara, thanks for saying such sweet things and CC....spent long hours at the hospital but at least did not end up having to sleep there.

updated in the Rant Thread but will just repeat to say that Mum is now slowly coming to and knows that we are there.
They also drained a lot of fluid off her lung so that could have been the reason why she was not breathing properly in the first place.

I hope to see her looking a lot better still to-day. Am at work and will be at JR by 4 pm.

    CC & TracyB - 25 points each.

'Cos the weather is pants, this weekend I have mostly been a domestic goddess. That and we have a glut of eggs that need using up, now the freezer is full of nommy-nom-nom.

Just off now to make some cake. Cake, anyone? No?

CH :bighug: So sorry to hear about that. Do you know how it got in?

We lost our three Buff Orp 'chicks' to a fox when they were about 16 weeks old, and it's a horrible thing to experience.

Big warm thoughts coming your way.

This weekend..well, I have the day off from the hospital run and I'm going to Londinium :-) for the day. I plan on having a nice day out no matter what the weather is doing.
On Sunday, I will be good and do the house work and do my usual run to the hospital.
There is fireworks on at Campbell Park and I go there if I get back in time.

Thanks everyone for your kind messages. It is horrible but the foxes have to eat too, just not MY birds. Our garden is small and enclosed, no holes and in a suburban environment which is why Im extra surprised. I didn't think it was possible. However, a lesson learned, wiser next time. Hope to get some more soon, I forgot what it was like to buy eggs. Feeling so much better reading all your comments.

Yes, nature can be very cruel. Good luck with getting some newbie hens - I bet bought eggs just aren't the same when you're used to home-layed!
