First of all we're a really relaxed and friendly bunch, so it feels a bit odd that I have to write some 'guidelines' for members to follow, but we can all help to keep this forum a fun place to be for everyone if we try and follow a few simple rules...

smilies / vanillacons
Smilies are great - they can help get your message across or how you are feeling, and are often the only way you can show that you are joking or being tongue-in-cheek in a reply, but please don't go overboard with them! It's annoying to have to scroll through a hundred animated icons that you added because you thought they looked pretty, and it can slow the forum down for members on slower connections.

text speak
This isn't an SMS, and we don't charge you per number of characters typed (now there's an idea!), so please don't use text-speak - if you do you'll come across as a bit thick and lazy and we don't want that do we? I know it sounds snobbish but there's only so many times you can read 'u dnt no wht ur tlking abt' before it gets really annoying.

off-topic / on-topic
It just wouldn't be hencam if every discussion didn't go crazily off-topic, so feel free to talk about whatever you want whenever you want.

Let's face it, all discussions go off-topic sooner or later, and quite often the off-topic stuff is more interesting than the on-topic bit, so there's no hard rule about what you can talk about, but please do consider the original poster's intentions - it would be a bit rude for you to derail a member's discussion before they'd received help they'd asked for, for example.


As always these aren't written in stone, but are suggested with the aim of keeping things fun for everybody. If you have any suggestions for any other guidelines that should be added, then let me know.
