How addictive are chickens? No wonder Hencam got so many hits! I need a webcam set up so I can watch the girls when I'm in bed!!! Oh my god, I think my husband will end up divorcing me and someone will report me to the NSPCC for neglect if I carry on as I've started! I have spent most of today sitting with and talking to my girls! My conversations have mostly being "bok bok" though! I can't believe how they all have such different personalities! Tandoori is most definitely the brave one venturing straight out into the garden today to find the juicy worms, Emily is pure nuts, Thomas is quite chilled out and has had a bit of a wander out of the run and Fifi is definitely the shy and reserved one of the bunch! They are all amazing! x

I'm glad you're enjoying them; I've always thought that watching chickens is very restful.
Just don't let those kids out of that run to annoy the chickens...

They do like to do that! It's like they have some kind of suicidal self-stuffing urge.

Ours once went mad trying to eat some polystyrene - they love the white balls of it when it breaks - me and Scarlet had to chase them round the garden getting it all out of their beaks...

What i don't understand is their love of the patio, they haven't been here a week and it's covered in poo! They practically live there! I have been told by my dear husband that I he will get the hose out for me every saturday morning! How very generous!

Get it out for you to hose it down I assume!!!!

Talking of destruction, I let Patrick and Molly free range in the bedroom yesterday. I could hear Patrick chewing, nibbling, tearing at the cardboard box in the corner. She was having a great time and really having a good go - then I suddenly realised that the noise wasn't like cardboard and horror dawned. She was tearing up my carpet in the corner!!!! I have had to shove it back down and put a box on it so's hubby doesn't notice!

I know! However, if I leave it long enough he'll think Danny did it before he moved out. I'll just say the bedside table must've got stuck and pulled it up.

No, in reality I'll crack and confess! Feel a bit guilty, especially as he thought I was putting the old cage back together for a new addition and said he doesn't mind! (I'm not, its so I can sell it, but it's made me think ...!)

Uh Oh, the girls are going to get me into some serious trouble, other than my herbs they have so far left my plants alone until today they decided to attack the only plant Col insisted we have in the garden, his most treasured Gunnera (like a giant rhubarb thing for those who don't know like I didn't)!

On a funny note, cleaned the girls coop out yesterday and was just wondering everyone's take on child labour cause they are just the right size to get in there and thought it was a great job to do, flinging chicken poo at each other! Was very tempted to just close the door and have a coupe of hours to ourselves! x

Rainbow Bridge I was refering to is the one that joins America and Canada just after The Niagara Falls.
I looked it up on Wikipedia and found both.

Yes I had a trip to Niagara Falls some years ago. I was to attend a two week conference as a council member in Canada and used all that travel to spend some extra days with my best pal's brother near there.
Niagara was one of the most amazing experiences of my life - and I keep saying that over and over...

But I did travel 5500 KMs once to my new place of abode - by car - 10 days. Then moved back (by BUS - 24 hrs a day) a year later....now THAT was a trip... 3 days

2 more today, can't believe how different in size and colour they are! Only told the kids there was one so I can secretly enjoy that runny yolk in morning! Will they stop laying through the winter????

Also, how tame do they get so quick? I only have to step outside and if they are roaming round the garden (or digging holes) they all just race over for a love and a cuddle! Saying that, if anyone else tries to stroke them they run a mile! Definitely my girls! Was trying to clean their coop out today and they were practically mauling me!
