    That's a cool idea Vicki!

What about some kind of beginning musical instrument? If it has strings - Auntie CC can begin their lessons. ;)

Highly unlikely. I could teach 'em the Garotte, that has strings. Well, one...that's what my niece was threatened with. She never took me seriously...

Sal, have you looked at 'Urchin' website? They seem to have lots of good quality different stuff. Also Hawkins Bazaar for lots of cheap little fun toys. They have shops around England, but I don't know where your closest one would be. I get lots of silly presents for people from there at Christmnas.

ooooh will have a look when I've finished working, thank you! The worst thing about family businesses is that it's 8.50pm and I'm sat working from home! knew I should have never had access to server from home! grrrrrr! There's a Hawkins Bazaar in the Merry Hill Centre up the road so will go there too! You're a star!

    Keeper of the hens

Buy them a book on keeping pet chickens! Or a kid's camera (or other cheap one so it doesn't mind if it gets broken) so they can take photos of their new pets and show them to their friends at nursery or whatever, then you could buy different photo albums etc for them too :P

But they're only little not-very-exciting ideas, sorry...

Been on Urchin website too CC and theres some cracking things on there, gonna sit down with col and show him later!

Oh no! I only thought of the camera because my 5 year old twin cousins have this big plastic camera designed for kids, and they love taking it about and feeling important taking photos with it ;)

That urchin website is really good, i'll have to ask my mum if she knows about it. I love the cardboard rocket ship!

how about each year giving them lumps of wood, and letting them carve a toy of their choice. Then after a few years if they still want a camera, their woodwork skills are sure to be pretty impressive.

Let us know what they think of them - i.e. are they a good buy or is it too much money for a piece of plastic?! I have a granddaughter to think of you know - no harm in planning early for her 3rd birthday - only 2 and a bit years away!

It IS too much money for a piece of plastic which can only be one thing. However, this thingy seems to be lots of things in one - more if you have the unhinged mind of a toddler! - unlike the stupid doll-type things or ready made castles or whatever.
