As we are all from differing parts of the country/world, I thought it'd be good to have a weather thread so people can update each other on what the weather is like where they are.
  2.
Well it's Thursday morning, still dark out even though it's nearly 8am. Sadly no snow, just cold, windy and lots of rain.....

    Snow here in Hencam County.
Only about four inches but enough to grid-lock our village.
All schools closed and folks returning home after trying to get to work.
    It is snowing again now.

The children are all on the play-field which has some great sledging slopes.

    :woohoo:

Yhup, it's just finished snowing here. My boss is making me feel bad as some people managed to get in, but I've no chance of getting through the roads here - when I went to see how Helen was doing, she'd given up and we ended up pushing a stuck car that needed help!

    Keeper of the hens

There's still snow here, but it's melting rapidly...

We walked to Goit Stock (a local beauty spot - it's a walk through forest to a waterfall - not a very good description I know sorry!), and we had heard noises for a while, like someone very bad at the trumpet practicing, and Helen joked it sounded like a dinosaur...

Then as we were walking alongside the river, a woman walking her dog suddenly shouted "look! deer, over there!" and as we looked, we saw 3 beautiful wild deer running across the field to our right. They leapt across the wall, then across the river that you see in the pic below, and into the forest.

I just googled for stag sounds, and it is pretty close to what we heard so it must have been the male calling out to them! Totally amazing, and they were so majestic it was fantastic seeing them.

Taken with the hencam camera yesterday morning (apols for size but they didn't look as good smaller):

    Walking through the forest

    Goit Stock falls

We saw a heron as well on the walk, they really do look like prehistoric birds, but also there's something really magical and graceful how they move and fly.

We got home very cold and very wet, but it was well worth it.

    Hope you enjoyed the pics!

    Great pics Neil !

My weather is rather confusing at the moment. We just started summer, and are averaging 18 to 26 degrees C. during the day. Overnight we are getting 10 to 15 degrees C. We are still waiting for it to warm up.... we should soon see high 20's to mid 30's during the day, with an occasional 39 or 40. It used to be quite warm by now... another few years and I will probably have a white Christmas too !!

Our weather's mental too...I wrapped up in a coat and big shawly type thing (purple, natch) over my (purple) jumper...and I have never been so HOT in my life! It wasn't cold out at all with the sun out. Then I went to 2 houses where the heating is maintained at a steady 90 degrees...I thought I was going to melt in a big puddle of fat on the piano stool...I was SOOOO tempted to put the car roof down on the
    way home!

    -20!!! :_oh:

There is a bit of a frost here today, I had to scrape the ice off my car window, and was pretty late into work as Keighley Bypass was blocked both ways (luckily a friend warned me so I went on the back road and missed most of it) - everyone else had the same idea though, apart from the unlucky ones stuck on the bypass with no chance of turning round...

It was sad to hear sirens as I got out of the car at work, I hope whoever was involved was ok.

But it just shows how unprepared we are for even the lightest frosts... can't imagine how bad it would be if we ever hit -20...

Just tuck 'em up snug with extra hay, that's all you can do. I have special needs rabbits who, despite having a solid boxed-in sleeping compartment, prefer to skeep in the open fronted cagey bit. This has forced - all right, I have forced - the Long-Suffering Eric to make a perspex door which fits snugly to the cage door and hopefully minimises the draughts. It'd be a lot simpler if rabbits had brains, though...:\

6.5 inches in the front yard (that's my office in the background) unheard of in these parts! That's a Stellar's Jay standing on TOP of the snow and making it look like its not very deep. :P

The birds were desperate for food when they saw me come outside - so this Nuthatch started guarding the hummingbird feeder. Which totally pissed off the hummingbird. (The Nuthatch is hanging upside down in this shot.)

We've just got grey old fog this evening. But I do quite like the way it makes everything sound muffled.

We used to get ice fog in Whitehorse. Basically it was so cold that the moisture coming into the valley (Whitehorse is beside the Yukon river and below a 100 odd foot escarpment) that the moisture would freeze and you couldn't see 10 ft in front of you. Like a true London wharf fog from the movies..except you could only see it for 3-4 hours of the day (sun was only up for that long)...very cool!

No snow here, but sunny and -4. Hope everybody is having/had (timezones!) a great Christmas. I've done one dinner, now today (Christmas) I shall be off for another after I relax a bit. Stuffed and tired (slept on couch after copious amounts of Red wine). I'm sure today will be the same and then tomorrow at Mum's...oi vey!

Cold and clear; Eric's rigged up flashing lights in the tree in the back garden, and the rabbits are now having their very own Crimbo Disco...

Its really really cold here today but nothing else happening. No snow or rain or frost so far.

Oh no. Poor Farmer Lynn. Your animals love you for all you do for them dear. Hey, the wild birds have taken their attention to me as a food source to a new level since the snow. A nuthatch flew right into my face, just missing hitting me. Then it waiting on the feeder while I was pouring the food, just inches from me. Then jumped right in for a peanut as soon as possible. And Sydney sits on the edge of the porch and yells at me.

I'm about to go work on my little construction project, but all my work is on the inside of the office.

-3.5C or 25.7F nice crisp white frost covering everything including CD car windscreen before he went to work this morning. Trains to London/Euston were also running around half an hour late.
Warm coffee needed on his arrival to work I think! :coffee:
