No, was just a general illness...I slept the illness off in the day, then was awake all night, then had to spend all next day sleeping, only to be awake again until 9am the next morning...I have turned nocturnal -.-

Fingers crossed for nice weather tomorrow, it's the end of year festival at Keele, Woodstoke.

To-day is meant to be a nice day. Quite misty this morning on the drive to work but the promise of a cool but sunny day. I was happy for ti to rain yestereday just so I did not end up pottering int he garden. was meant to get on with the usual paper-work (new month etc etc..) but felt I could not cope with the stress so took to my bed and watched a bit more of 24.

When I get home today, I will wash Ma patio and do a general tidy up in her garden. I have to get her vege. patch going or I had better just grass it over.

There, that is the plan for the day so I will have to keep to it now.

CC, good money saving idea for Red and Lyle.. :-)

sunny again to-day. Hope it stays like that all day so at least I get to do my Nordic walking thingy in the dry.

Won't have time to do anything else this afternoon but get home, get off to do my Nordic walking thingy and then dash off to BK's Centre at Nuneham Courteney. If, like Red, I could turn nocturnal then I can catch up with the other jobs. :-)

There is a big push here in UK to stop using water in such a wasteful way.
Sprinklers are frowned on as a lot of the water evaporates before it hits the ground.
We are encouraged to turn off taps eg., when brushing teath and also not overfilling the kettle.

I had a water meter put in to find I am on a branched supply with next door and her water was running through my meter too! They are going to change it all - when they get round to it....

    Lee,
The MX5 run was great. It's the first one I have done on my own and I do believe that I did very well. The club members were all really good to me and looked out for me. I know the rule of convoy driving is to keep the car in front of you and the car behind you in sight but since I had no navigator, the best I could do was just keep the car in front of me in sight.:juggle:
It's not possible to do it any other way. It was not a mad manic run, the pace was like it should be for country roads and to be able to enjoy the scenery too.
One of the clubs (will remain nameless) I used to go on runs with seemed hell bent of seeing how fast they could all go and to be honest, I bought my car for pleasure, not to break it nor to show off with it.

We have a silly hat run and a picnic coming up soon and I will do that one too. I am also planning to go to the MX5 rally at Chatsworth and ahve alrady booked a weekend drive to Southwold, Aldburgh, Lavenham etc....That should be good fun.

    Weather today = wet...
    It is watering my weeds.
Now don't laugh but the big centre bed in my front lawn is all weeds, except for some blue stuff someone gave me once.
I have Rose Bay Willow Herb, Dandelions, lots of lovely grasses and other stuff like that. An under carpet of violets before it all got tall.
I do carefully remove the seed heads so as not to annoy neighbours, though most of these came in from their neglected gardens anyway!

You will have to laugh Ollie you know you were saying about your centre flower bed having plenty of weeds, well I re did my hanging baskets the other day and one had a nice bushy little plant in the center with masses of little tiny leaves, I wasn't sure what it was so left it, today I have just seen a few small flower buds it is a minature rose bay willow herb !!!! I decided to leave it seeings as it is so tiny.

Ooh yes. Do keep your "weed".
My garden bed is so lovely and so natural.
I have two strips at each side of the lawn that are too steep to mow, so are left as "meadows" (only 18" wide)
There are lots of lovely grasses but apart from dandelions very little in the flower dept.
I chatted with some expert at a garden show a while ago, she was adamant that I wouldn't get anything until the meadow was 25 years old. This being due to the fertilisation done to the garden, as "the soil is too rich".
Now I have lived here for 49 years. It was a new house built on a turnip field. The only fertilisation on that was dustbin rubbish, mostly ash and broken pots. ( Other rubbish was used as fuel on our open fires)

Until I had my hens my garden was imaculate Ollie. If I try to weed anything now they get in there and try to help out scrapping and digging with gusto plants flying in all directions along with bits of soil weeds and the odd bit of bulb or corm.
I have just left it to go a bit more natural with few more shrubs. I really enjoy my garden a lot more now as it isnt such hard work and the hens are such a delight always ready for a chat and a what shall we do today Mum.
I have thought of getting a couple of packets of wild flower seeds and sprinkling around, I will have a look for some next time I go out.

I don't have any flowers in my back garden, and weeds get my immediate attention to remove them from the lawn! The front isn't as tidy - lots of dandilions and buttercups. For now I like the minimalist look - maybe if we had more wildlife I'd be tempted to dig up some grass and plant something wild. I am considering buying a large pot or 2 to put some lavender in to remind me of my nan.

I have a garden full of signs, glass flowers, fairy lights, wooden toadstools, copper leaves and mushrooms, dangly whirly things. It all disguises the fact that there's nothing growing except grass because the rabbits and chooks have decimated it. On the plus side our lawn is completely moss free as the chickens have rooted it all out.

Did you see the Catalunya race?
Loads fell of at first bend.
Then another fell off and his bike erupted into a huge ball of flame, they couldn't put it out and had to leave it to burn itself.
Then someone overtook on the yellow flag. His pit team couldn't get it accross to him that he had to give the place back. Eventually the stewards gave him a drive through, which cost loads of places.
At the finish line the second rider clipped the front man and went tippling all over with his bike, he crossed the line second but they didn't give him the place as he had not got his bike with him.
Then to top it all the mike for the winners had an awful echo that went on and on.

Someone seeing that lot for their first race would get a very distorted view of m/c racing.

I have looked for his "Private life" to find he is very secretive about it. Though in my opinion it's no disgrace to be homosexual - iether way.

I have a friend whose teen daughter has decided she will be happier as a boy and is getting the treatment.

And I have some lesbian friends too, so maybe as I know them it doesn't bother me any.

No, it wouldn't bother me at all either, and he has every right to a private life. It just shows that you CAN be in the public eye and have a private life, unlike these fame chasers who love to be snapped.

Men are much more influenced by such things though, so sponsorship and promotion could be harmed if he was known to be. I have a couple of gay colleagues and they are wonderful men. Don't know any lesbians though - not that I know of anyway!

There is a kids' prograqmme on tv all this week showing some very intimate details on sex.
Very revealing,... It's on after the "Watershed" and aimed at yooung teens, though I guess there are many of us that can learn from this.

Yes, I saw that last night. It was very informative. I hadn't even considered the problems faced by disabled people so it was enlightening.

I felt sorry for some of the kids, they looked so embarrassed! But I think it does them good to be told the way it is. They want to be treated as adults at that age, and are old enough to start 'experimenting' (despite what their parents might think) so knowing the truth about things is very important.

Teenage conceptions are very low in countries like Sweden where they are told the facts of life in a very factual way from an early age, unlike here where its not discussed and is restricted too much by religion and the biased views of parents.

Hot and windy here today, my poor grass is real parched. I managed to get some lettuce from Asda that had been reduced to five pence each, there is nothing wrong with them I think they had just over bought. My hens are thrilled to have plenty of nice fresh greenery straight from the fridge. Lucky I got a big fridge as I was able to get seven !!!!

This week I keep remembering our Silverstone camping expeditions.
We would go for the whole week, Monday to Monday. I belonged to an Amateur Radio Club, we took a huge wind-up antenna and showed everyone all about "'Ham Radio".
Some of us even went into the race!

We have rain, and a forecast for rain, with an extra bit of rain on top. I'm off for the week so I suppose its typical weather for my holiday. Hubby has a track day tomorrow (I'm going as spannerman) so we'll be wet. We're taking Caitlyn to the zoo on Thursday so will need waterproofs for that too.

Our thunderstorm had me running round with buckets as the conservatory roof drain couldn't cope and it was streaming in through the door tops.
The rail was lashing down. It was like being on one of those deep sea fishing vessels.
The roof auto vents can't close very quickly either, they work by the heating/cooling of the sun on their barrels of wax/oil so are quite slow.
I have been caught out before with them..

oh crikey how awful to have every thing so dried up. My grass has revived now and is fairly green again. The garden is looking quite good as well and I have been busy harvesting gooseberries, currants, raspberries, runner beans, lettuce, raddish and courgettes, plus herbs and such. Yum yum tastes far nicer than from the supermarkets.

A nice day today just right for me not to hot I got a bit of gardening done with masses of help from the girls. Goldie was a real help as she eats all the spiders so I can get on with it rather than having to wait until they have moved off. They are not my most favourite of insects.

It was quite nice here today a bit overcast for most of the day. I am hoping it is reasonable tomorrow as we are going to Newstead Abbey. I have been a couple of times before but Grandad North hasn't been before. It isn't far from where we live so we won't be taking a picnic this time. Bacon butties before we go though !!!!

You will have to get the family outside and all do a rain dance Lee !!!
