Seems like my nan was right. During the storm a 16 year old was struck by lightening in a park yesterday just a couple of miles away. He is critical (heart attack and burns), another friend had serious burns, 4 others had more minor injuries but had to be admitted to hospital.

Kate, heard that ont he radio to-day.
Hot to-day and nice. Makes a change for all those minus temperatures we endured in the winter.
Nice and cool in the office and will be lovely in the garden.
Glass of wine and chill time for a bit when I get home. Planning to do a walk round Willen Lake later this evening. great to be out and maybe get a bit fitter too.

Kate; Tuppence's lump is a result of an old injury. Vet said not to worry, keep an eye out for any changes, but should be fine. Tuppence howled all the way up the footpath, all the way to the vets and all the way back again. Didn't mind the vet but takes great exception to being locked in the carrier....

It's about 88°f in the office here which is stifling, and of course the aircon has broken (they seem to get it repaired every year just in time for December's freezing weather...)

I have to leave work in about 15 mins to go to a Dr's appt - my old ingrowing toenail that was supposedly removed many many years ago grew back as a claw, and so I finally decided to have it ripped off again, so need to go for an assessment...

You can follow me on the 'findme' page if you can be bothered ;)

Note: I'll be travelling slower than normal because I'm on two wheels not four as the bloody car exhaust fell off last night :( And it needs a new catalytic converter so it's £380 to shell out :(

Its cooler in the coop than in my rats room. They've got 27 degrees at this moment - 11.10pm. I used to love the hot weather because I'm always cold, but this heat is making me very afraid for my girls. I'm doing everything I can to cool them down but if it gets much hotter I don't know what we'll do. An air con is out of the question - extortionate prices! If anyone can turn the British thermometer down a few degrees I'd appreciate it! :rat: :rat:

Yeh, way too hot here too...may resort to sprinkling my bed with cold water like we did in London one time. They were having a really bad heat wave and we were staying in rented out student accommodation, so no air con or anything like that. We resorted to tipping cold water on the beds and floors just so they were cool!

My friend gets one egg plain yoghurt and olive oil, mix together, puts it on her hair, leaves it for an hour or two,
    wash out,

I LOVE yogurt. I think I'm a yogurt addict. Half a diced apple (or a handful of halved cherries), a handful of cashews and 4 tablespoons of Nancy's Yogurt. The best desert ever! :P

A key lime comes with a little plastic key which you use to open the end and all the juice runs out!! truuuly.
    No just jokin'!:001_rolleyes:

A key lime: is yellow when ripe, smaller, seedier than a regular lime.
Ordinary lime (Persian):is green when ripe, larger, thicker skin and more aromatic. I use this one in a gin and tonic.:drinkparty:

It rained so much here yesterday that all the hens started looking like feather dusters that had been dropped in a sink.

    rainyday

    Fortunately they've dried out today.

My poor girls were the same yesterday, I hate it when they go to bed wet. They do have several dry areas they can go in during the day, but only just them for short periods of time. It was nice and dry today for us but the wind was a tad keen at times.

Ditto Shobhna - the weather is just the same here, except I would add torrential rain to the bottom.

The lightning riposte was far quicker than I'd have thought of it!(Too quick off the mark = 'jumping the gun' in a race, thereby disqualifying oneself.)

We had several heavy showers and a thunder storm lunch time. It turned nice after that. I was able to get my outside jobs done with the help from Sootz and the hens. Picked a nice handful of runner beans and a couple of courgettes from the garden as well.
