Down near where she is the FREEWAY is completely shut down - you can't get from southwest Washington to Portland, Oregon (by the freeway anyway) at this point. Its very worrying.

Diane, it seem we are having extreem weather everywhere. Yesterday we woke up to 66 degrees, winds gusting to 60mph, heavy rains..by 5:00 it was 51 degrees and this morning it was in the 30's. I just read on CNN that Alaska's temp in -60 in some places and you guys with all the snow and now all the rain. What is happening???
    And I almost forgot..Colorda's wildfires..

The Puyallup River has receded below flood stage, so the worst is over.

I'm sure Lynn is OK, she is probably very busy though...

Thanks Rhonda & Nancy. Is that the river that impacts her Jonny? Lots of 'em down in her area. One gigantic, muddy, swimming pool now. I think she said, last time, that her farm doesn't really get flooded but I can't remember for sure. *chews nails.*

My friend Gloria has been trying to get to her mother in Oregon and these is no way to get there from here and won't be for almost a week. Scary.

The part of Seattle I go to and Whidbey Island are unscathed. We are more 'normal' the high winds like the ones Rhonda was talking about 60 - 90 mph. Yeeha! (LOL I just spell checked that and it came up Yeshiva.)

We are doing alright for now, we made it to the grocery store and back, but they have the main road closed in 2 places that we use the most. The side roads have water over them in places, and my big old 4x4 truck acted up and wouldn't start today,( wouldn't you know it) so we had to take one of the cars and just hoped the water wasn't too deep where we had to go...it wasn't too bad. The heavy rain has stopped for now, so maybe things will improve soon.. so we just have to fight all the mud left behind. I keep getting stuck in the mud and it sucks my boots right off...grrr..I HATE WINTER!!

Diane, we are between the Puyallup and the Nisqually rivers, but closer to the foot hills of Mt. Rainier. (587 ft.) Puyallup (the city) where the flooding is bad is at sea level. One of these days you are going to have to come down here for a visit.

Oh dear :( Hope things improve quickly Lynn, Diane - stay safe!

Usually the UK news would cover things like this but I hadn't heard anything about this until I read these posts - proves how insular we can be at times and how the Internet is great for sharing information.

Lynn! Good to hear from you. You are further north than I thought. I always think of you as being in the Chehalis area.

I'd love to come for a visit. Maybe the next time I'm going down to see my Ma in Oregon. :)

Don't disappear into that mud there. Have you ever encountered the 'sucking mud' on some of Whidbey's beaches? A guy went in up to his chest once. Fun stuff.
