I would like to speak out on behalf of us monkey population in Beaverton. We monkeys were just having a bit of lark when these nosey coppers arrived and started waving these yellow things around in the air. Do they think we are stupid.......hello....monkeys dont eat bananas. We is much more sofistikated than that. We love potato and leek pie and spaghetti bolognaise and spotted dick and jelly with custard.
We originated in Africa but we have grown to love western food. Next time you want to catch us try something more upmarket. A gin and tonic would go down nicely too.(hic)
    Thank you

Te he he ha ha good to get a report from the furry opposing side. Billy Joe's Mum caught me outside the park as I was packing up to come home. She asked me to pass the word that the Police Cadet force the Beaverton Green Bananna's were holding their annual jambouree here next week end. Every one would be welcome as they would be doing a special event for the public on the last night there. It would be a mock up of the great Bannana Sundy battle. I worriedly asked her if the recruits would be using real banannas. Oh yes she proudly replied but they will all have a cork in the end of them to safe guard every one against accidental let off's. I am still not sure if she meant the bananas or recruits but there was no time to ask as she bundled Billy joe in the family 4x4. He was grizzling, he had been away from his X box for to long and was suffering from withdrawal symptoms......to be continued

A few weeks ago, while at work, I had an unexpected grasshopper encounter. OK I know it wasn't a chicken, but it did jump like one whenever I got near. Note that it is missing one of its large rear jumping legs... which by the way I am not responsible for !!

It seemed jump fine. It managed to get more than 1 meter off the ground on several occasions. Finally it jumped/flew out of the workshop and into some trees 10 meters away, at an altitude of approximately 4 meters.

There was a parrot who lived at this pet shop (wasn't for sale) and it was allowed wherever it wanted around the shop, had toys in its cage if it wanted to play, and had lots of human contact, but still looked all scabby...was a cute lil thing, think it's still alive.

Well speaking of unexpected encounters, on Sunday afternoon we were sitting in the lounge room chatting when we heard a loud thump on the window. I looked our expecting to see a sparrow lying on the front porch but....it was a poor little budgie that has knocked itself silly.

We gathered he/she up and brought it inside. It stayed in Brians hands for about an hour as he stroked it and talked to it. A call was made to Trevor as he had a spare cage and the rescue mission began.
That evening we put notes in letterboxes nearby and at the local shop. Three days later no one has rung to claim the little sweety so....we are now the owners of a dear green, yellow and greygreen budgie. We will get our vet to check he/she over and try to determine sex and age. Once we know we will need a name for it. Fluffy and Sid are taken so we will have to be inventive.

Its still a bit shy but was obviously someones pet. It loves the sound of running water and kitchen noise. Fortunately Thomas the cat does not seem too interested.

We had a budgie years ago and it has brought back pleasant memeories of owning a bird. We hope to tame it so it wont be frightend of us as we used to let our other one out for a fly around the house as it was very cheeky and confident.

But yes, they live in the wild, and people breed them too. The budgie I had years ago was bought off a breeder who supplied a detailed ancestory of said bird.
