Rose, the local deer, got into my corn field last night and ate a row and a half of my babies. (My 'field' is only 4 rows wide.) So, I need to go and try and fence it off somehow this morning. A heretofore unplanned task...

I just gave Holly the remainder of the peanut butter jar to lick out (love watching her tongue reach down to the bottom to get every speck) and she is STILL laying there, staring at me, waiting for the last little bit of my breakfast. Which I always give her. Which is why she always stares at me. Its a cycle.

    Sorry I vanished; unexpected visitor!
I always wished I'd made a recording of the sound of our Labrador getting the dregs out of a peanut butter jar...there was a radio programme which asked you to identify an animal from sound alone, and I would have loved to have sent it in...:)

It has...still a bit sticky. It's just about dawn here now...couldn't sleep and the old bag I was playing at Scrabble on my nintendo thing turned my 'jet' (on a triple word score, with which I was well pleased)into 'jetliner' which took her across to the other treble word score. So I lost the will to live and decided to see if anyone was on Hencam! :)

Then just as I had got it all sorted Grandad North came home from work. It was his late night so I had to dash into the kitchen and get his meal sorted.
Things have been better CC and when S**t hits the fan it sure does get just about every where. Getting to grips with it all now though.

    init sister -

    "Don't be fooled by rules.
Although there is probably no danger in following the 8x8 fluid rule, remember that your own individual fluid needs may vary. In the absence of prostate trouble or urinary incontinence, the pesky problem of chronic trips to the bathroom is a common bane for people who overdo it with fluid intake and could be a sign that you're getting more than you need".

"On average, the body uses between 1.7 and 2.6 pints (one-1.5 litres) of water daily and more in high temperatures or when exercising".

"This is replaced through drinks but a LARGE AMOUNT is also contained in food, so it is not necessary to drink an equivalent amount to replace water levels".

"Too much water can affect the balance of salts in the body causing "water intoxication", which can be fatal".

I can't just find the actual reference but the 8 pints theory ommited the fact that most of this fluid is in the food we eat - otherwise food would be just dry powder...

    Ollie in UK..
I find that I get a lot of cramp in my legs in the night and I'm sure it is on days when I have not drunk enough water.

Still, I can find the loo with my eyes closed so I never actually wake up. :-)

    Init sister,
Leg cramps can be helped by raising the foot of the bed a little, a pillow or two under the mattress will do it.
Rolling the bottle with the foot for a while before getting into bed, having drunk the contents at first of course.
Even more bizare - a piece of toilet soap under the bottom sheet!

Leg cramps may be attributed to low levels of magnesium in the diet.

Ollie, I'll do the rolling the bottle thing, considering that I have many empty bottle (Hic !!)

My leg cramps are just anger that has travelled down from my hands to my feet (means I don't get done for murder, I just hop about in pain in the middle of the night instead.)

I will check out the magnisume theory. I know I get enough potassium because I'm addicted to bananas.

My Mum made me promise not to put her in a home where the chairs are all pushed up to the walls instead of being in groups.
Unfortunately just after this Gran had suddenly to go in a home and it was of that kind. Mum would rearrange the chairs at visiting time.
Gran thought she was in a hotel and would "Get the maid to bring tea for us all".

I went somewhere like that to tune the piano; I was taking the casework off ready to tune it, when a v.posh voice rang out 'Does Matron KNOW there's a "person" stealing the pianoforte???"

Lynn, let us know how you get on.
I so hope that you find a good nursing home for her. One that your Mum approves of.
