Have they been laying since she brought them home?

It could be that they were stressed by the move and so need some time to settle down.

Also, what is she feeding them? Are they moulting? What age are they?

Sorry for all the questions ;)

Probably due to the move... they'll resume laying when they're calmed down a bit and got used to their new surroundings.

But they have now stopped.. I told her what to feed them,

she doing that ok. Moulting?? Would that stop laying?

Yes, moulting will prevent them from laying. They normally moult at the end of summer - mid winter, but can moult earlier. You will know when they are moulting as they will stop laying and lose lots of feathers!

If they are eating the right diet and have enough space etc, then they will probably resume laying within a few weeks :)

Have you ever had a chicken lay more than one egg a day??

I think the only way that can happen is if the chicken doesn't lay that day's egg through some kind of interruption and it gets 'backed up' (although in that case the next egg shouldn't be formed until the first is laid).

An egg takes about 25 hours to create, and chickens will usually wait until the next day rather than lay in the afternoon, so that's why you get about one egg per day off a good layer.

It can happen, but is very very rare. And i don't know what sort of health implications it has. Like my dad said, most common reason is if the hen becomes egg bound and produces another egg before the first one pops out! :)

Are you sure two couldn't have been laid later yesterday (even though hens prefer to lay in the morning...)?
