I've plenty of housework waiting too.

Having moved a lot of my furniture around lately and found that my cleaners have not been doing a proper job, so decided to show them the door.
Will have a go myself for a while - I seem to have more energy lately _ but will keep eye open for another firm of cleaners.

Sara, I have forgotten what dates you are working on as I don't usually take much notice of those anyway but do remember that The World Health Organisation say a pregnancy is 38 to 42 weeks long.
THEN start thinking about what to do next - and if there is no medical reason then just wait a bit more.

Just got back from midwife, She said, baby is ready to come. But he is laying on my back,

which means when he tries to push down he is using the soft bit of his head.

I need to get him to move so he can use the hard bit of his skull to push down.

So i have to sit on an exercise ball and rock. and get down on all fours and move my hips.

If i dont get him to move, and he down come out. I have to go see her agian. NEXT TUESDAY.
Then she will book me in the hospital NEXT WEEK.....

29TH JUNE, AND GUESS WHAT ..........

    He's still not here.
As you all know dennis is back to back.
I went on to a couple of website looking if theres anything i can do, to move him, as sitting on my ball isnt doing anything, except tiering me out.

Good i wish i hadnt gone looking.. contractions are going to be twice as bad, and labour may be a lot longer.
Some woman were in labour 26-47 hours, o my gosh..

Mother's job is to dilate --
    Baby's job is to rotate!

Helping the baby to rotate, before or during labor, makes birth easier for baby and mom. The point is that we can help the baby by helping the mom - not by manipulating the baby.

Most of the time, labor contractions and vertical birthing positions help the baby rotate.

Sometimes, though, the position of the baby’s head makes fetal rotation more difficult. The reason might be that the mother’s soft tissues are not in balance. Ligaments may not be symmetrical or muscles may not be well-toned. In other words, the support to the womb may be too loose or too tight. Happily, you can do something about this! First, read about the 3 Principles.

The 3 Principles of Spinning Babies:

    1. Balance
    2. Gravity
    3. Movement

An optimal, or ideal, fetal position is when the baby’s back is to the front or left of the mother.

    Advice
Back-to-back babies are becoming more common due to the fact that we are more upright than we used to be.

It is generally recommended that you spend regular amounts on your hands and knees with your bottom in the air! Sounds crazy, but it can help. I have also known acupuncture to help in this, but be sure you see a certified acupuncturist. Sometimes the baby turns on its own. Sometimes though there is nothing that can be done.

Unfortunately babies that are in this position make labour much harder for themselves and their mother, as everything takes longer. The reason for this is when the baby is posteriorly positioned (back to back) their head doesn't fit as well into the pelvic outlet. It's pretty much a square peg, round hole scenario.

You can expect it to take longer to dilate. Often during labour, the contractions will turn the baby around, but not always. Labour will therefore be longer, which means the mother is more tired.

If your baby refuses to cooperate and turn, please ensure you offer yourself enough pain relief as the more tired you get, the harder the labour will become. I don't mean to sound like a gloom merchant - keep in mind that a fair number of babies do turn before labour.

In a nut shell, the anterior fetal position has the back of the baby's head (the occiput bone) in the front, or anterior, of the mother. The left occiput anterior baby faces the mother's right hip (back of baby's head to mother's left) and then, in active labor, turns to face the mother's back during an "anterior" labor. Occiput Anterior and Left Occiput Anterior are both ideal fetal positions.

The posterior baby faces the mother's front (with the back of baby's head in back) and has to fit facing forward or turn around 180° to an anterior position. A larger part of the baby's head enters the pelvis when the baby's head is posterior, so birth may be harder.

Goodness gracious! What a load of terrifying stuff you have been reading there Sara.
A lot of babies start posterior and do turn. If they don't then they come out looking towards Mum instead of her bottom. That's all. Not as big a problem as your reading implies.
My second one was this way and it didn't give me a hard time at all.

Sara. Every labour is different. you have had a lot of limbering up contractions that are often followed by a shortened labour.
A posterior lie does not mean a lot really if you take a waiting game. Don't try and hurry things up. Trust your body to do its job and allow it to get on when it's ready..

    !WELCOME DENNIS!

Clearly you are a man with a mind of your own - arriving just one day past the month your mom wanted you to be born in.

Wishing all the best for you and your family. :bdaycake:

Congratulations Sara. SO glad he has arrived safely - if not a little late. Still think I'm going to stick with cats and chickens though.

Apparently he was waiting until his hair grew out. :) That's the most amazing head of hair I've seen on a newborn. Although, I'm not exactly an expert on that subject. LOL Charlotte - great posts and pix. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much Charlotte for posting the pictures and letting us know how they are doing. Dennis is BEAUTIFUL!! I'm so happy that he is here and your mom and brother are doing so well. Dennis has the longest hair on a newborn I have ever seen..and I've seen a lot of them. It may having taken a long time for him to get here, but he sure is worth the wait... what a doll!

HELLO EVERY ONE!!! Its me the non pregnant one, Good i feel so much better.

Well not going to get big headed, But look how cute my son is o my love him so much.
13HOURS he took to come out. On one of the hottest days ever, no air con, windows that only open 5inch. and no light that worked in my room, so they had to use a touch.

Half way though labour i went for a bath, cause my water where just come all day, about 3pints.....

After the bath, contractions started getting very strong, all they kept asking was, don't you want to push you have been in labour hours.
I said id try but no, so told not to..

I started to go to sleep, told to wake up. nothings happening just very strong contractions. They had to give me an injection of steroids.

to bring them on, which they did. But i couldn't move him. I tried n tried for hours. Kepted screaming the babies stuck, why wont anyone listen to me, So they got a doctor in, who asked for the scanning machine,

WAS TOLD HE HAD MOVED BACK, TO BACK TO BACK, and if i couldn't get him to move in 30mins i would be moved up stair to have him taken out...

Got i didn't want that, so 2 more injections. One on my leg one on my bum. more drugs,
As well as the nearly full tank of gas n air i had(good thats good stuff thought i was skiing down a mountain.)

Midwife went to get doctor as 30mins had passed and northing, I couldn't move him. so she went i was left with the other 3 Midwifes.

When she came back with doctor i had manage to move him abit. So i was told to carry on pushing. but he was stuck again.

WARNING DON'T READ ON IF YOUR MALE OR EATING.......

The midwife took a pair of BLUNT SCISSORS TO ME!!!!
    THAT'S AFTER INJECTIONS DOWN STAIRS....
O my gosh my husband said. and after a few more big pushess out he popped,
    Husband cut the cored.
I got a mega load mega nice stitches..

so i will not be doing that again.
But my gosh what a load of hair he has. its about 2-3 cm long. 8 lb 11. born 9,15pm.
I do forgive him for the pain he put me though lol.

Not exactly a textbook birth then, Sara?
Glad you came through it with all that aplomb, despite those midwives you got (to me they sounded rather out of line).

It's good to have you back.

Well done Sara, and welcome to the forum Dennis! :)

Commiserations Kate for having to babysit for the next 18 years...

I just realised that the 'free smilies' website that Scarlet is using is very clever - it gives you the code for the image but also adds a tag to a webpage that has paid them to advertise!! So you get your smiley, but they get to add a nice search-engine valuable link to their client... sneaky!

Maybe we should have a 'smilies request' section so I can add them to the site...
