This is for confessing what you should be doing instead of Hencaming (yes Neil, it is now a verb.)

Like now: I really really have to get busy on cleaning up the house for our Thanksgiving thing on Thursday!!

    Whoa, Diane,
I am the greatest procrastinator ever! I have an underactive thyriod and exist on "Mind's willing, Body's weak" as my health carer calls it. Have tablets but other conditions interfere....
I do often think my body is just using this as an excuse.
I only dust if someone who would notice is coming. I vaccuum when I start sneezing.
Right now the washing is sitting in the machine waiting to get out. That is one thing I do keep up to but hate hanging out and as for ironing... only iron as I want to wear, like the French do, that is why they always look so freshly turned out!
When I worked I said I was saving the housework until I retired. Now I say I am saving it until I get a home help.

Ollie that is the best saying EVER! Think I'll adopt it! As I'm at work I should be doing what I'm 'paid' to do, but we all need a little 'self' time. If anyone asks I say I'm waiting for a query to run as the network is so slow!

I'm supposed to be pulling out data about breastfeeding so's we can work out a strategy to get more moms to do it, but its all very complicated (and boring!) so takes a lot to stay focussed. Think I'll eat crisps now!

I am interested in your breastfeeding project. May I ask why you are doing that if it is boring you? As I am not in practice any more I don't read the BF sites but do read and contribute to the midwifery ones.
You would get info from some of these sites.
Our web mistress is Angela Horn, I don't know if she does BF sites she is a mine of information.

Yes, Neil you're exactly right. We have a BF co-ordinator who's new in post and so we're working on finding some new data etc, but its a hard slog! worth it though and at least I get to see it make a difference (hopefully). Still, its better than wiget-counting which is what a lot of the NHS is about (targets, targets and oh yes, more targets - yuk!!)

Anyway, to continue the theme, I should be sorting washing, ironing what's washed, and washing up, but hen-caming is better!

No way - this is all about how wonderful our chicken filled cam is and how hard it is to tear oneself away. :D :D So, I'll now demonstrate by saying that I drew my bath water 20 minutes ago (and I totally LOVE bathing) and yet - here I am looking at 3 soundly sleeping hens. Well, and reading 50 or so new posts :)

Hey Kate & Ollie - my sister wrote a cookbook for breast feeding mothers. Years ago. Took several years to research it. She had a publisher (the LeLeche League?) for most of the time but they bailed at the end so its unpublished. I remember her calling me once, late in the evening, demanding to know if I knew whether sesame seeds were high in calcium (they aren't.)

Hi Diane. At last we are on at the same time!!!
LLL is still a good organisation.
I recently came across someone who self-published and found a printer person whose machinery will do just as many books as she orders, even just one!
Your sis's book will need updating though in the light of all the foody info that is coming out now.
My WISDIH (what I should be doing instead of Hencaming)
= My leek soup is waiting in the microwave to be wizzed together and tasted for refinement, it will be quite cool now even though there is about two pints of it. That'll see me through a few meals and some to freeze.

Yes, my sister is still fond of the League.

Congrats on your new computer Lynn :)

I am actually not WISDIH at the moment. I'm back from work and have a free moment, a moment that is mine all mine and am choosing to hencam :) Ahhhh. Although the minute I typed that my dog began to moan to go outside...

My WISDIH is the same again - I'm STILL trying to get some valid data out of our bloomin' software!! A hated colleague produced a load of stats recently from the same source and I think he got his numbers wrong (snigger snigger!) Not that it'll come back to bite him - do you know the expression brown-noser? Suits him down to the ground. It means its going to take me even longer now though - I need to prove him wrong to prove me right (or vice versa). Either way, gotta be sure! Thank heavens for hen-caming to distract me!

I'm sure your sister's book would've been really useful. My future daughter-in-law could've done with some advice on what would be good to eat. Surprised LLL didn't go with it.

I wonder if my sis still has any favorite recipes around that she can share with the mommie of your grand daughter. I'll check. LLL had some kind of problem that they didn't foresee. Don't remember what it was but my sister didn't get angry about it I do recall.

Well, my WISDIH - doing my post client day books! Sigh.

WISDIH - going to bed! Had to wait for a wash to finish first - been laundering baby clothes so's they're ready for the new arrival - and I can hear its stopped. My son's gone to Wales for a hockey game and won't be back til the early hours so I'll probably have half an ear listening for him too.

Well, I shudda been wondering where my dog was. When I did finally pause to give it a little thought, I couldn't find her anywhere. First I searched my mind for possibilities, then I searched the house. It turned out - after some increasingly frantic review, that she was out in the back yard pursuing a brand new occupation: Digging. Noooooooo!!

Its snowing slushily and she has a thick coat of mud from pretty little nail tips clear up to her boney doggie elbows. And an extremely wet and chastened looking face. Uggggh.

WISDIH - Getting more washing done. My washer wouldn't spin so I sent for my pet mechanic. We pulled out the washer and on the floor was a 3inch little drive belt. Jim tilted the washer, wizzed back the belt and it was all done just as the kettle boiled. Best £15's worth this year.

WISBDIH; Sleeping, but steroids are zapping about making me insomniac... Ollie, thank you; the stamps say 1st class on them, so we ought to be all right. With these stupid new charges, I expect they'll get binned anyway, because I wasn't going to sit there with a ruler making sure each card (purchased in last year's sales, so pre-charge-change) conformed to their silly measurements. The GPO keep on about how they lose money on understamped stuff, but never mention the time we slap 3 stamps on to be sure of delivery!
Lynn; bon appetit :) ; I always think hens the ultimate soporific, that's why I logged on for a fix!

Haven't watched X factor at all - think its all a fix anyway. They seem to get rid of the better singers (who'll make it on their own anyway) and just keep someone who'll be a one-hit wonder, make Simon Cowell mega money, then disappear into obscurity. Or am I cynical?!

Did you have a good time then Wazza? Hope you weren't flashing folk!

I feel I should confess that I spent most of today knitting instead of hencamming. I'm not proud of myself, and throw myself on the mercy of my peers. In my defence, it's for the grand-baby, and she's due in 3 weeks. I've got loads left to do so have had to get on with it - my fingers are sore! Therefore, I'm now hencamming instead of sleeping. I beg your forgiveness!!

    THREE WEEKS!!! My oh my!

Although I don't really see why you couldn't knit AND hencam... You could type with your nose. It would be a bit slower but still... Actually, hold on, you could strap two more needles to your elbows and then knit & type. That would work! :)

Again, THREE WEEKS. Wow. Is this our first human hencam baby Neil/Red?

I suppose there's always my toes, and though I'd be able to hit the keys they wouldn't necessarily be the right ones or in the right order!

Knowing how awkward my son likes to be - whenever I had time off work (from the local hospital) we'd always end up in A&E with him - I wouldn't be surprised if baby doesn't put in an appearance over Xmas!!

WISDIH; sorting out the carols for my gigs tonight . And dreading the Christingle service at 5:30 involving hundreds of brats with lit candles. Shudder. Instead of which I am hencamming and just getting outside of a fortifying sherry. Eric has to come to fend the brats off who want to press things on the organ, since it isn't seemly for the organist to hiss at them and lash out with a Doc Marten... the Midnight Service will be far more restrained, and then a 9am and 11am tomorrow morning then I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Fingers crossed that you have a peaceful Christmas Kate!

CC (partly because I don't know what *just getting outside of* means) my current mental image of the 5:30 service is 100s of sweet little children watching in amazement as the organist weaves back & forth on her stool as if she were on the deck of ship at high seas. Still, she's a pro so (in spite of the Doc Marten's), with eyes shut, no one can tell the difference in her playing and glorious music rolls through the building.

Our jobs really impact our experience of this season don't they? For me, lots of people leave on vacation and I twiddle my thumbs and peer at the financials anxiously. While the dog says: *Walk the dog!!* So I do and then, slowly, I began to really appreciate the time off.

It was only a weeny sherry. And I needed something to dull the pain; why, of all the organists on the rota, they give the gig to the one who doesn't do kids, I shall never know...hundreds of 'em, all shrieking and wriggling. When I was a troll, I sat still and quiet during church or suffered the wrath of my parents. These days, they do as they please.
Three more gigs and I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....
I don't get work in the holidays either, Diane; they're desperate to get their pianos done for Christmas, and then after that it all goes quiet. Suits me, I shall be asleep until New Year...enjoy the rest!

I booked the time off - along with most of the rest of the office!! I'm lucky that officially I'm the only one of 'me' at work, so when I'm off work just waits for me. I don't have to cover anyone else if they're off though, so that's ok.

I should be planning a treasure hunt for my (20 year old) youngest, but I doubt I'll get it done now. He's too old for that now isn't he?!!

Sounds like an Easter Egg Hunt.

Holly & I just got back from a wonderful walk on Holmes Harbor beach. So warm & sunny. No hat or mittens required. The harbor was smooth & beautiful and lots of pretty ducks were swimming around. Sail boats anchor in this harbor and an eagle family is often flying around. Glorious. My house is (well back from the beaches) at one end of the mouth of the harbor.

That sounds idyllic Diane. I often wish I had a dog so that I had a reason to go out walking - not that there are many places to walk around here! It's my retirement project - to re-home a cat loving dog. Only 20 odd years to go!

Suppose my WISDIH is cooking christmas dinner. Hubby has peeled the potatoes, just need to go start it cooking. Well, perhaps 5 more mins with the hens!

Have you started cooking yet Lynn?! I'm just thinking of going to bed - been a long day having got up at 7.15am! Did a little bit of knitting earlier, then went to do sandwiches and cut my fingers - 2 of them, independently, with 2 passes of the knife! Only tiny cuts - like papercuts but really sore and on the fingers that do the knitting. Will have to put plasters on to do more tomorrow!

I wonder if they're real 'prima donnas' now - stars of the internet, fed cream cakes, and told they're beautiful by their minion as she cleans up after them. What a life!!
