I have yet to get to a computer where my photos are stored but thought I would get the ball rolling by at least starting the thread.

I have just done a cute bunny and bear picture for my friend's baby. When they unwrapped it, her 3 year old cried "where's mine?" so now I am doing something pink, purple and butterfly-y.

Ah yes. I remember now insisting that each child had to have a gift when the new baby got one.. Though as they got a little older then to accept that when it is a birthday celebration, just the birthday person gets a present.

Looks as if you have a super sewing machine NN. Wonderful stuff there.
My machine is almost as old as me, though it does have an electric motor. It must have been one of the first with a motor built in, I know they had "add-on" motors for a while. There is a box of different feet but some look so very complicated! Rufflers and pipers etc., I guess.

It is a nice machine Ollie I have had it about fifteen years now. I also have an old Singer treadle machine that is in a cabinet and that has been converted to electric. you can use either the treadle or electric. Goodness knows how old that is Ive had it for years and it was my Mums before that.
I did have a real nice little singer machine that sewed chain stitch only. I lent it to my Mum and she lent it to someone else so I never got it back. I have looked out for another over the years but never found one. I used to use it a lot as well.

I have a kiddies electric machine. Used it the other day for Georgie's first go. This was very, very cheap.

There is a kiddie's Singer in the attic, must locate it and check it over, had that a very long time.

My nan had a treadle machine - I love it! I've made a few things in the past - crocheted a cropped cardigan which always gets compliments even at 15+ years old! Made hammocks and various items for the rats, and of course there was .... the baby blanket!! (click on my name for a picture. My fingertips have only just recovered!)

My more modern machine is a Brother make. I must say I have been more than pleased with it.
I have made loads of these pusscat cushions for friends and family. I made this one with a piece of left over curtain fabric.

The ribbon bow is a piece of ribbon that Tim bought me for my hair when he was still at school many moons ago. I had very long hair then. It was a nice gift from a trip to Scotland, Bless him.

No I know what an overlocker is CC. This was an old singer machine with a handle to turn at the side. The machine was a beauty with flowers and such on the body. It didnt have a bobin and only used the reel of cotton. It did a perfect chain stitch.

Jay brought this horse shoe crab shell back from America several years ago. He was everso upset because it got crushed in his suit case. I spent hours reasembling it and fixing it all back together again. Anyhow I managed it and framed it myself. It makes a real unusual picture, but I like that and have done several different ones.

Anything up to 1820 (apart from Frescobaldi - boring bugger) then nothing much until Faure, Debussy and that. Then nothing much till the 1970s. Queen and Supertramp if I have to pick someone who hasn't been dead for a hundred years. Sweet (esp. Ballroom Blitz) up so loud it makes yer ears bleed makes me smile.

My granny used to paint pet portraits for clients.
Nice little earner, especially as she only came to use oils in her late 60s.
The whole family have paint and draw talent to some degree.
My Mum would always say she couldn't draw but came to it eventually when her Mum persuaded her to come on a painting trip. She lived in Constable (famous English painter) country.

So you went to Art College - so did I but not for long enough. I left to raise my family and never got back. Did't seem to find time to draw etc., except for the children. Then my life took yet another bend in the road, I was getting under the children's feet so went into midwifery training. I was the District Midwife for the last twenty years of my working life in the area I've always lived in - full of familiar faces!

It is difficult to make a living from drawing. I had planned to teach. My Dad was a poster writer in the days when they were all hand done, yes, all those huge bill boards were hand done! Then mechanisation came in and he moved off into his other talent, journalism, finishing up as editor of a trade magazine in London.

You have loads of talent and WILL be able put it to profitable use.

My brother was(is!) a painter and decorator, and started training to be a signwriter. He was very good and it would've been the perfect job for him, but there just wasn't the call for it so he stuck with general decorating.

Sad in a way that so many of our old trades done 'hand' are dying out as machines and computers take over. A hand drawn/painted item contains something of the person I always think.

Its 12 different colours NN! Varying width stripes so its maybe that that's helping me to get through it quickly. When you only have to do 4 or 5 rows in one colour its an 'easy' target to get to so gets done quicker! Its also in Merino wool - very lovely to knit with.

Ah it is the colour helping you Kate I find the same with the random colour wools you can not wait to get to the next colour or you set yourself a goal with what colour to get to before bed time Ha ha. It sounds lovely wool and I am glad you are enjoying it.
I managed to get most of Aurelias larger size bolero done so we could pin the seams and have a rough try on and hurrah it is a much better fit. She has gone back to Germany today. I will miss her she is a real little poppet.

It will be quiet in your house now they've gone back - Caitlyn is a dynamo, constantly on the go and I sit thinking "when's she going home so I can have some peace!" but its so quiet when she does and she takes the fun with her!

This is the extent of my knitting...it's not properly stretched out so you can't see it properly (and it's taken on a webcam which doesn't help), but you can probably just about make out the holes in it

And here's an old music book I bought from a charity shop for 50p, which has been transformed into a sort of scrapbook. It has photos in it and quotes and all sorts...it doesn't belong here, but oh well

Nice knitting Red I will have to sign you up for the hen jumpers this autumn !! Thats a super idea for a scrap book and very unusual. I always think it is a little bit sad when you find a little snippet of someones life like that and personelised with their handwriting as well.
