    Keeper of the hens

    Hey, :welcome: to the forum!

Hurray, what chickens are you getting?

Water! As a word of warning, you'll probably want to offer water in a water dispenser rather than a bowl, it's much more hygenic and holds more water.

Also, you could get some things to keep your chucks entertained - a mirror or football, something like that, you can put rocks and logs in the coop, too, so they can be used as perches - or upturned flowerpots.

A small basket hanging from the coop roof so it hangs about two feet off the floor can provide hours of entertainment; simply put lettuce, raisins, bread, anything in it and watch the chickens try and get their treats out! Wicker baskets with large holes in the side work well, because then the chickens can fit their beaks through the holes!

Good luck with your chickens, feel free to post pics of them when you get them!

Oh yeah, they love corn - cooked, raw, on the cob, anything!

Love the English Game birds :)

Be careful when buying your birds from a market, give them a very thorough health check as they can often carry hidden signs of illness. And if you get one bird after the other, don't introduce them all straight away in case the new one is ill, keep them separated for a few weeks.

    S'all I can think of!
    thanks for the info red
