Did everyone realise that iff you double clicked on the hencam pic it opens up and gives you full screen vision, hit the escape ESC button to return to normal size...

Also this morning i could hear lots of non english radio transmissions coming over the speakers... Interverence from trawlers, planes or taxi's from abroad ?

You know, I thought it was just *me* that could hear the radio interference... seems it's picked up and transmitted too (oops!)

I suspect it's the house at the bottom of our hill, it has a large CB radio mast on the roof and if you have the radio on you get a brief burst of intereference when you drive past... The webcam cable must be acting as a large aerial so it picks it up. Quite annoying, to have someone's transmission spoiling our listening pleasure! At least it's not as bad as it could be....

I just found a recording of the webcam footage of the bonfire night but it's too big to upload and you wouldn't be able to stay awake through it (it could have possible benefits to those suffering from insomnia!)

Hi Neil - I think you should upload the last 10 minutes or so of Red in the hen house. Starting with Scarlet asking Milly to jump up on her lap. I swear no one watching it will ever eat chicken again.

I feel so guilty when I eat chicken now. I hate to admit it but we went to Nando's yesterday. I have a really bad diet and find it really hard to eat out. Our usual 'restaurant' is the cafe by the ice rink for sausage, egg and chips!

I wasn't hungry till I popped in here, but may have to go and raid the fridge now. Not frizzle eggs, though; I kept having nightmares about eating my grandchildren - sad or what? :0)

They're so ... frizzy!!! One site describes them as 'mutants' because their feathers curl out! I love them, and they'd have a use in the house too dusting the ornaments (or smashing them if their attitude is that bad!)

Neil, try putting a ferrite ring round the camera's cable, they stop interference on electrical devices. You can get them from maplin or any good electrical shop. (I sound like a 'JML' ad lol)

If I look at the full screen picture, what do I do to get back to the little one? The only way I got out of it last time was to press the emergency off button (ie, the on button) and that frit it so it asked if I really wanted my pooter to hibernate. Well, I know it's winter, but that's just stupid...

    Keeper of the hens

CC - hibernate shouldn't affect a computer badly (if it's been designed to do it, it should be ok!)

In fact, if you bought your PC recently, it'll probably come with Vista and the power button will be configured not to turn it off, but put it into hibernation. It's a pretty good system as the next time you turn it on it will be ready to use in seconds (you don't have to wait for it to completely boot up from scratch), and whilst it's hibernating it's technically not using any power (or at least the same as when your PC is shut down).

When you press the hibernate, it simply dumps a copy of everything in the computer's memory to your hard-drive and then powers off, so when you next turn on, instead of booting windows as normal (which can take ages), it simply moves the saved hibernation data back into memory, and your PC is in the same state as it was before.

Suspending is a bit different as I think that just enters low-power mode. In either case, computers been computers, you'll probably need to do a "proper" reboot (ie: shutdown then restart) at least once every few weeks.

The Hencam PC is on permanently, but thankfully it is a nice Dell which can use as little or as much power as it needs for whatever task it's doing, so hopefully it's not single-handedly destroying the environment... I never reboot, the only times it happens is when there's a power cut or Vista decides it needs to after it's auto-installed an update...

CC, are you talking about hibernation or freeze ups?..there is a difference. Hibernation is a good thing...freeze ups are a pain in the rear end...the only thing to do when that happens is hit "Alt-Ctrl-Delete" keys at the same time, that brings up the Task Manager window..find the browser you are having the problem with and click on it..then click on the "End Process" button. Then you can re-open the browser and start over again.

No, Lynn; when I got 'trapped' in Hencam, the only way I could think of getting out was to wait till Neil let us out in the morning - no, I mean was to hit the same button that I start the lapdog up with and hold it down - that's like an emergency shut-down thing. When I did that, it went back to small Hencam and a nanny-knows-best oblong popped up asking 'Are you sure you want the computer to go into hibernation?' in a prissy voice. Well, not out loud, but you can just tell these oblongs have prissy voices, can't you? Well, I can...so I pressed 'No. Shut yer face' and it went away.
    See? I have a bright new future in IT, don't I? :\

I caught her hencaming and together we sat down (Her on the floor) me in a chair and Eric in bed and coughing and sneezing, and we did a bit of puter training... and drinking tea and eating choc bics (Yummy)

Actually, 'pooter training' implies that I learned something. He did try, bless 'im, but I'm afraid I looked on open-mouthed as he navigated effortlessly through an awful lot of jargon. The most constructive thing I did was to make him a cup of tea (and Eric a Lemsip for his snotty cold)!

He's simmering in the bath with a hefty dose of some German stuff called Minzol (mint oil?) in it which should sweat the cold out a bit. He keeps sneezing and making the cats jump. Then they glare at him and he grumbles about going in the garden to sneeze if he's upsetting them. He didn't actually go, though, so they're quite glad he's decamped to the bath. Is your hubby better from his accident?
