Well, the wedding invites are out. Did you get yours? If not don't worry because as Grandma doesn't own the royal mail any more buying stamps gets expensive so alternatives have had to been found for non-imediate family invitees. So check below to see if yours is there if not do say as there are a few spares still to be had !!

I will have to start looking for an outfit, perhaps my purple Thai silk or the evening gown from the 50's but that may be too dressy!

Brian already has a lovely dinnner suit so hope that will be ok.:face-smile:

I think we will bring a boomerang, a lamington, a pavlova (maybe CC can bring some cream for it?), an Aussie meat pie and I'll make one of my nice hand crafted cards.

Still lookng for my outfit Julie I want something real special for a change. I thought of purple but if us three are all wearing the same colour people might think we are from Sheila's wheels !!!
The dress code on the invite states uniform, morning coat or dress suit so maybe LSE could choose one of those that doesnt need a tie CC Maybe a cravat or something.
Youe selection of gifts sound real cool Julie I might have to pop back to Hawes and get one of those delicious cheeses and a big basket of fruit to eat with it. I could do a wedding sampler as well I think I have time !!

Its fantastic that someone so far away is planning a party to watch the wedding. There are so many people in this country whinging and complaining (but they'll still take the day off). Its about time we had something to celebrate and be patriotic about - what happened to the British spirit? I am proud of them for having donations to charities in lieu of wedding presents - keep meaning to check which charities they are. Might go do that now!

I ent wearing a hat, either! I have a cupboard full of Purple Happenings, involving black trouser/leggings and various purple knock-yer-eye-out velvet/chiffon/froufrou tops. And as we discussed before, I'll go for a fascinator if I can find one that won't get lost in my hair. Either that or a full-face crash helmet.

Nah we don't have a radio / wireless either.

Well, we have a TV to play games on, so we have a TV, just not a TV to watch TV on!! Lyle's PS3 can get all the catch-up things (BBC Iplayer, 4OD etc) so we can watch things on there if we want to. But it's really not worth getting a license for the tiny amount we watch...

Ollie, the only reason I know for certain you don't need one is that everyone else said you needed a license to watch them (and paid for them) in my first year at uni, but I contacted the TV licensing people and asked them, and they said it was allowed...I double check every time I move into a new place, and haven't had to pay yet

Internet to watch tv is an area that may be reviewed but at the moment no license is needed.

Yes TM, I was amazed at the kids too. I kept imagining what Caitlyn would be doing if she were the bridesmaid. Doesn't bear thinking about! I'm watching the replay of it as I type!

Julie, you look wonderful in your best frock and Brian looks so handsome.
I did sit up and watch the wedding, it was the middle of the night here in Washington, so I wore my best nightgown. (not going to post pics of that outfit:gasp: )
Kate's dress was perfect, she looked so lovely! I just loved the whole wedding.

Oh TM, you look just too gorrjuss!

Someone mentioned the ring. I am a quarter Welsh and when over there, a while back, decided to get g'daughter a Welsh gold ring.
(The Royals all have their wedding rings of Welsh gold.)
To my dismay I find they have a reserve on it all and only a tiny bit is on the market. I had to be satisfied with a ring that has a section of Welsh gold in it. Pretty though and you can appreciate the different golds.

Friday was lovely. I didn't realise I was such a Royalist. Watched repeats for rest of the day. I most enjoyed seeing all the different folks arriving at the Abbey.

The crowds in London were amazing. I bet Gadaffi wondered what was going on - seems he couldn't sleep and in the middle of the night made one of his rambling nonsensical speeches to the cameras.
    :blahblahblah:
    Walk like an Egyptian.
    Talk like a Gadaffi.

Well it looks like we enjoyed a bit of royal romance, we certainly had fun and there has been lots of coverage here and the papers are bursting with all the news and pics.

I had never thought about gold being from a particular place - I assume the Welsh gold vein is empty now then? How is Welsh gold different?

I hope the royal family are able to capitalize on this wave of royalism - Kate and Wills should be very popular with the public. He is the son of Diana and she has the same 'commoner' (as in "not of royal blood" rather than really common!) background as Diana. I hope they have a wonderful life and that people continue to support them.

    Welsh gold is very red.
I have some African gold that is a pale yellow.

I have seen rings that are made of three different shades.

The Welsh gold comes from a nugget that the Queen has that all Royal wedding rings have come from for ages. The Welsh gold is, as Ollie says, very red, and usually African gold is yellow, made red by adding copper and made white by adding (I think) silver.

Wow, thanks for that. I never realised. I now have a mental image of the queen opening a drawer and chipping a bit of gold off to hand to Wills saying "here boy, go have this shaped into a wedding ring"!

    Ha ha!! Probably does!

Did anyone notice that Kate's sister, Pippa, was using a body double for those butt shots? I don't like to brag, but I was glad to have helped. (Believe that and you'll believe anything!!!! :face-devil-grin: )
