I use Amazon (or Hencamazon) a lot to buy books, but was wondering whether the Girls still benefit if I buy used books from Amazon? I often go for used books, being a tightwad, and I'd like to think the Girls still get something out of it.

Damn - I bought some DVDs from amazon this week and forgot there's some way for hencam to get some benefit. How does it work Neil? What do we have to do?

    Keeper of the hens

Aww bless you for thinking of us!

I never had visions of making millions (although I've once been accused that it was all about making money, and if that's true then I must truely be the worst con-artist known to man!), but a google-ad click here and an amazon order there helps me argue the case for running electricity to the coop and having the PC on 24/7 broadcasting and eating our internet bandwidth!

It's no secret that the sole reason why you can hear audio on the site is because Pinklefish donated the necessary hardware to enable it, and it's always quite humbling to see how people are not just faceless visitors on this website, and give their time and friendship so freely... it's making me feel super Christmassy... :)

Anyway, if you do order anything from amazon, if you first go to the shop page (or maybe the friends page - can't remember), then click the amazon link, and when your order is dispatched I get something like 5% in affiliate fees (it doesn't affect the price you pay - it's Amazon thanking hencam for sending you there!)

At the moment I have £1.11 (in the three months the link has been there!), so if you forget, don't worry, but if you do, then thank you!

    Cheers

    Neil

Yes, I've just spent about £70 - DVDs and games for the consoles. We'd have boosted the coffers by a little bit - some extra brussel sprouts for the christmas dinner table! I'll remember to use it in future too. It doesn't appear any different after following the link so I hope they're honest with you!!

I did use Amazon after I'd posted, but I didn't see any difference in the page from the link or the one I'd usually use (and then my order went missing so had to be re-sent). I suppose we have to assume Amazon are honest about these things

Well, given Waz's comment - what's the deal with your nose then CC? And a 2nd question - if keeping your fingers fit is an essential aspect of your profession, have you ever tried taking your rings as a tax write off?

You should spend that (what) approx $8 over here Neil. As we continue to hammer the dollar into the ground the value to you for hen presents now worth the additional postage isn't it?

I DO have a tattoo, actually. Possibly the only lady (HAH!)organist in the Thames Valley to have one...?
And we have a wedding photograph of Eric with a silver ring in his nose attached to a ribbon, being led by ME! Being a builder he won't wear a wedding ring, so I said I'd get one for his nose. He said if I did he'd wear it. So I did (tame jeweller in Wallingford called Barry - excellent bod!) and he did.
I pride myself on NOT being well-groomed; what's the point of being self-employed if you have to look tidy? :rasta:

    Keeper of the hens

I've got a tattoo! One day I might show you it too (if you look carefully on camera.... and it's on my ANKLE before you start to wonder!)

Got it for my 30th birthday (I think it was "bloody hell I'm getting old better do something ridiculous" or something like!)

When I was a teenager I had a pierced nose and earrings too - my grandma used to worry dreadfully how I'd turn out, but I think she's secretly proud now (and my holes have healed!)

It's funny because the stuff you thought were terribly rebelious and daring when you were a teenager and your mum used to shout you for, it's probably exactly the same as what the previous generation went through!

Scarlet has her nose, lip and ear pierced, and I think myself and Helen were quite blasé about it - growing up is all about finding yourself and experimentation and all that (and she's easy to tether now so she doesn't wander off - I'm joking Scarlet!)

Anyone else got any piercings they can talk about? Wazza? :)

I got my tattoo for my 30th too! I had a mate who laid awake all night and cried when she hit 30, and I thought that was stupid - it's only a number! - but I thought I'd mark the occasion. Literally!
I've got four holes in each ear (apart from the one God gave me!), but these days that's very tame!

I have two holes in one ear and one in the other. Because, by the third one, I was dizzy from the pain. I have barely any earlobes - which, in the opinion of the woman who punctured me, was the reason for my unusual response. I think it was my general sensitiveness... :P I'd like to get a tattoo, at my waist, on my back. Saw that once: a woman with a Winnie the Pooh holding a balloon that was a yin/yang symbol. It looked cool. I especially liked the location because she could never see it except in a mirror.

Wazza - please tell us you have a tongue piercing.

I'm with Lynn, just one hole in each ear lobe. My hubby has 2 in one and 1 in the other, eldest son has one ear pierced but hasn't had anything in it for years and years and years. Youngest had ear pierced but it closed up, had his initials on his right upper arm, then a celtic swirly thing put around it, then had the number 16 (HIS number!) added, and now has Caitlyn on his right inner forearm.
