Yeah, I'm getting 4 chickens this summer so I will definitely need help.
I was doing important tests in Nov. and Dec. so that's why I was away.

If you need any breeds recommending just let us know. I reckon we can come up with a great list of hens between us depending on what you want them for (egg laying, friendliness, poor flyers, whatever...) :)

And big hen coop... please don't feel like you have to announce your every return to the site.

It's been over 3 weeks since their last visit so I'm just waiting for another "I'm back! Again!!" post... :face-plain:

    Keeper of the hens

    Haha! Very droll.

If the only post from them every month is one saying "Hi I'm back", then I'm sorry but I don't need the extra hassle of cleaning that from the forum... It's exactly one month today since their last visit (and post saying 'they were back').

Or we could just let the spam, junk and other random rubbish that forums attract build up until it's just one unusable ghost-page..?

There has to be a balance between giving free reign to all and sundry, and some poor sod (me, Scarlet?) who is tasked with removing the porn adverts, SEO spamming and just plain weird shit that gets posted on forums nowadays.

You can't please all the people all the time, but I might be able to annoy some of them to bugger off and leave us in peace ;)

Neil I am quite surprised by your tone. I actually meant that in a positive way and i really don't come on this site to offend or upset anybody.

Heh yeah, Lee wasn't being sarky dad...he was just saying it's nice you can be honest and tell a new member they're being a little annoying, as most forums don't do that
    :)

I got a bit annoyed with this thread too though. The poster didn't specify what they wanted from us other than a 'recap,' and when we asked questions to try help they didn't respond...if they come back and ask more questions, fine we'll answer them, if not it doesn't matter. And if they come back and post a bit of a pointless message, I'll get rid of it before my dad sees haha :tooth:

I know where he's coming from though, it can get annoying trying to work out which posts are genuine, pointless, and which should be counted as spam. Especially because half the time I don't know which posts are okay to be left or should be gotten rid of, so I just whisper my dad and leave it for him to decide! ;)
Sorry Lee, we didn't mean to upset you - we love you! :) My dad just thought you were being sarcastic...same as always, it's hard to know how the original poster wants their message to come across online, isn't it? I'm around on the forum more than my dad, so I think I know you and the feel of your posts better than my dad I guess...if that makes sense

It's his foot making him bad tempered!!

I don't think any of us 'regulars' are ever sarcastic - we really do appreciate everything you do for us and that we don't have to put up with a ton of spam.

Now, put your feet up Neil, and when it's better go and take up a dangerous sport - we can't trust you with the traditional hobbies and pastimes!

    Keeper of the hens

Sorry Lee, didn't mean to sound so grumpy - I actually thought you were taking the pee originally so I took it the wrong way!

I was probably a bit harsh to "big hen coop" too but my point was if their sole contribution to the forum is going to be a post every month saying that they're back then I could do without the hassle :)

My main aim is to keep things here ticking over and for it to be a nice place to be for the most important people (ie: you lot, Lee definitely included!) - which is why I sometimes take it far too personally when I think one of you is having a dig (whether they are or not).

So apologies Lee - here's a pic of my foot which has been aching and making me even more grumpy than normal! (a bit manky)

    Oooh that pic!!!
It makes me itching to take those huge yummy stitches out!
I used to love doing that and got a reputation for doing it ever so gently. Especially when you consider just where those stitches were that I dealt with.
Those are in a pretty sensitive area too, Neil!
