Yes hubby really wants to go again - it's a long way to go just for a day though and you need good but bearable weather to sit there all day. And the disappointment if nothing came would be huge! If we lived closer I might be tempted.

I remember once G/N and a friend went and not a single thing came through all day. It was about a week later that the friend told us it was because the eisteddfod was on and they didn't want to be disturbed by the noise so all low flying was stopped. They usually go round the loop twice its about four minutes for them to get round it. G/N got a fantastic picture of one of the crew in a fat albert taking a picture of us all up there on his phone. I will get him to dig it out when he gets a moment. He at work today.

The tornado we saw didn't come around again like we expected. It was a bit disappointing that we only saw the one, but that one was fantastic and really got the adrenalin flowing so I was happy with that! They do put a vague timetable on line, but it's more of a maybe than a definite!

OMG it worked! Tried formatting as text instead of html. Don't know if that did it or if it just happened to be small enough. Harri = white paws, Hakuin = tabby, Merlin = mostly black (with gold eyes).

Holly is currently viewing them through a transparent plastic wall. If I hold them above it, they hiss and she walks away. Holly loves cats though. Kittens may be a bit of a mystery to her... Especially as I keep opening all these cans of food and disappearing with it into their room.

Yes, I am keeping all three. I have high hopes for the kittens and Holly getting along. She has always loved kitties. Soon after the kittens were born, I started going to the barn where they were being nursed by both mothers (who are sisters). For the last month (until they were old enough to bring home) I brought food and went twice a day. So I got to watch how well their mothers care for them, spend time every day with my future babies and their 7 other siblings/cousins, and play with the other barn cat who was left to hang out in a shed while all this was going on. I miss those mamas. They just got spayed today, I saw on Facebook.

They will be great company for you and each other. It'll be interesting to see how their personalities develop - my friend and I have a theory that male are more loving than female, black cats are generally the most affectionate, so therefore a male black cat is the one that will give the most love. You'll have to let me know if yours are the same!!

Glad the mommas are being spayed - we have so many young moms in at rehoming and the kittens take so much out of them. We had one that had been bred 3 times by the time she was a year old. She didn't survive the third litter.

I know - if only people would get them neutered. I think most of the mommy cats we get are under a year old.

    Keeper of the hens

    GORGEOUS photos Diane :heartsabove:

We adopted these two fairly recently. They are Kakariki parrots. We've named them Zip & Roll. Before ending up here they'd never had any training, socialising or handling from humans. They're pretty confident, inquisitive birds though so I've been training them using positive reinforcement...they're doing great (: They had their first ever free range fly a few days ago and loved it. Zip (green, male) is the bravest, but Roll isn't far behind!

They are sooo funny & their relationship with each other is super sweet. If one goes out of sight at play time, the other panics & calls to them, then immediately flies towards the response...it's so cute!!

CC they *probably* won't speak - they're not a type of parrot that easily learns, they're already adolescents, & with them being together they won't be as bonded to humans. But they do make the most adorable noises, it's very different to normal parrot squawking!

Here's Zip having a bath yesterday :rolling:

Adorable! When you free fly them - is that inside or outside? At the parrot sanctuary I used to volunteer at (80 parrots) some of them would free fly outside. I would be anxious the whole time.

I would be too Diane. I remember years ago Red telling us about a local parrot that used to free fly but I think they were forced to stop it doing so.

Get ready for this ... I'm currently making The Blanket 4!! (1 being Caitlyn's, 2 was Shaun's, 3 was for my friend Hannah's wedding). Number 4 is for Hannah's baby! She leaves work on Friday. I only started it last Thursday - not sure I'll finish but I can go visit if it's not complete. I'm crocheting this one though just for a change! Will only be popping in for quick visits until it's done!!!

    Keeper of the hens

These two only fly inside, Diane. I don't think I could ever let myself free fly them outside, I'd be sooo scared! They're quite small birds too so I'd be worried about other animals getting them. They love their flying though, I can't believe they'd been caged all their life previously

Yea Kate, that was Elvis the Macaw. The council warranted him an ASBO so he couldn't fly anymore, then somehow the local garden centre got hold of him and he's spent the last 10+ years cooped up in a tiny cage :crying:

Poor Elvis I can remember the photo on here somewhere with him perched on Reds arm. It is such a shame when caged with no freedom whatso ever. Looking forward to seeing finished blanket Kate. I did two at the beginning of the year just to do something they are still upstairs and I will gift them eventually I will hoik them out and get a photo of them when I get a mo

I finished it earlier this evening, and have washed it to see if it softens it up. It's in the dryer at the moment - once it's done I'll take photos. I'm quite pleased with it, except my casting on was quite tight so it's narrower than the top. Something to bear in mind next time I crochet one.

Wow well done Kate that was quick, little hint about that foundation row or casting on use a size bigger hook just for that then carry on with the size you will use. Hope you don't mind me saying just trying to be helpful for the next one you do. I always wash my blankets and use a little comfort in the rinse water, it certainly does make them very cosy feeling. I am so looking forward to seeing the pictures
