    Keeper of the hens

I don't know if anybody has heard of this site: http://www.dogsblog.com/

But it's really good! They list all sorts of dogs, of all ages, breeds and breed mixes, that are in need of new homes. They list dogs from rescues all over the place, some of the dogs are even from other countries. The dogs backgrounds differ and I've seen virtually every dog breed featured on their site!

Here are some of the cuties from the recent update (the site is usually updated everyday apart from weekends) * Please note I don't know any of these dogs, I'm just quoting how Dogsblog describes them. If you want extra info or to contact the rescues holding specific dogs, look on the Dogsblog website.

Duchess, a 7 - 8 year old British Bulldog! Good with other dogs and needs a new home as she was used as a breeding bitch :(

Gerald and Doris, roughly 8-year-old Staffie's, found straying. How cute are they?! :tooth:

Sussie and Sassie, two 14 week old Collie cross Springer puppies - same breed as Kasper, so will need lots of exercise!

George, a 3-year-old Patterdale Terrier who needs an active home!

8 month old Marley, a Collie, is an ex-farm dog and is good with kids, dogs and possibly even cats!

And finally Cookie, an 8 week old Lurcher pup! Young enough to be socialised with kids, cats, other dogs, other animals etc.

It's a really great site, and definitely worth looking at for dogs in your area, if you're thinking of getting a dog...problem is I look at the dogs in my area and want them all, hahaha! :tooth:

There are some gorgeous older (5 - 8 years old) cocker spaniels on the site today. Timid of people but good with other dogs, they're lovely.

Trixie is a 5 year old Cairn terrier cross, arrived in a terrible state, but loves people and other dogs. She's a real cutie!

Next dog is a fave of mine, I think she'd get on great with Kasper! Princess is an 11 month old cross-breed who is very active and loves other dogs and people; she was found as a puppy in a bin bag on the road, with seven other puppies, but was the only one to survive.

Flake is a six month old American Bulldog (love that breed!) who's owner didn't ask the landlord for permission for a dog. He's very active and loves other dogs and people...look at that tongue! He's gonna be a big boy

I really feel for this dog; she is called Abby and is an about 12 month old American Bulldog x Boxer. She's terrified of the world, but especially people. She can't be walked as she's too scared to even get a lead on, but she has no aggression in her at all  The only thing she isn't scared of is other dogs. She's absolutely beautiful.

Tommy is a 12 month old JRT cross. He was found with a nasty burn on his leg and an embedded collar around his neck, yuck. He is fine with dogs, confident cats, and in the car. He also walks well on the lead.

7 year old Sally is a cross-breed who was rescued from the basement of a pub (story covered by the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-13816633 ). She is good with other dogs, clean overnight and isn't food possessive.

    A lot of dogs tonight!!

Sammy, a 1 month old Collie cross puppy. His mum was dumped in the rescue, heavily pregnant, and Sammy is one of the pups.

Sammy is a young 18 month old Springer Spaniel who is bouncy and energetic. His owner can't keep him as they have moved into a flat :001_rolleyes:

Dice is a 9 year old Greyhound, he's obviously been badly treated in the past and is afraid of men and children. He only has half a tail and his joints are a little stiff with age; he needs a cat free retirement home!

Scout is a 9 month old Staffy cross Bull Terrier, very hyper he loves to play with other dogs.

Gypsy and Tia are two 12 year old cross-breeds whose owner has had a baby and took them to the vet to be PTS. They're now waiting for a miracle in kennels. They can be separated if need be.

George is between 18 - 24 months old and is a gorgeous Staffy, he loves people and other dogs, and look at that brilliant smile!!

And finally poor little Hope, an 8-ish week old Lurcher pup. Almost died many a time, but still fighting for her life, she deserves the best home out there.

It's heartbreaking to see the condition of that puppy, but George's smile is wonderful! I can't believe Gypsy and Tia's previous owner would think its OK to have them PTS just because she's had a baby. Wonder what she'll do with the baby when she gets bored of it? Doesn't bode well for a good and loving life does it. They are better off in another home - I hope they find one soon, and the same for all of the other dogs too.

I'm always amazed at how horrible people can be to animals, especially dogs, but it takes a really horrible person to abuse a defenceless puppy who relies on them for everything...

Ebbie is a 10 week old Springer cross Labrador, the same breed as Vince! She is good with kids, cats, strangers, dogs and other animals.

Rosie is a gorgeous 4 month old Staffy cross. She is in foster with five other dogs and loves them all.

Diesel is a very loyal 6 year old cross-breed (I deffo see GSD) who has spent all his life in a flat never getting walked. Despite this he is very energetic and good with other dogs and cats!

Daisy May is a 1 - 2 year old JRT cross. She was rescued by someone from a shed, given to someone else, sold to someone else and then ended up in rescue, so she really needs a stable forever home! She has had no training but is learning fast with clicker training.

Laddie is a 2 1/2 year old Springer cross Collie - whoo a Kasper dog! He needs a *very* active home without children under ten as he is scared of them.

Daisy is a 6 month old Lurcher pup who has been living stray with her sister, who sadly died. Daisy picked up a nasty infection but is fighting to recover.

Missy is a 4 year old Lab; she is an ex-breeding bitch and deserves a fantastic home for the rest of her life.

I haven't updated Dogsblog dogs for aaages due to having a broken laptop, so I am stealing Lyle's :tooth:

This gorgeous girl is 14 month old Tillt, a Springer cross Bulldog. She needs a new home and is obedient, is being worked with recall outside, and is absolutely gorgeous! She's the one on the left

Chas is an 11 month old Staffy cross Mastiff. He is being left crated all day because his owners work full-time, and so he isn't getting any proper walks either. Very fun and bouncy, and good with other dogs, cats and rabbits!!

Duke is an 11 month old GSD X Doberman. His owners went on holiday and paid for kennels then never returned. He is fantastic with other dogs and loves his exercise, he needs lots of physical and mental stimulation.

Mylo is a 2 year old JRT who really deserves some TLC. He was found straying on a busy road and was unfortunately hit by a car, resulting in a leg amputation, but he is a steady gentle boy and brilliant with other dogs.

Woody, Mia, Milly and Jessie are 4 month old Mastiff cross puppies in need of a good home after being abandoned in a cardboard box.

I'm sure some of them will fly out of kennels fairly quickly - especially the puppies! There are sooo many dogs in kennels in the UK it's unbelievable, nevermind elsewhere. For a nation of dog lovers people are very quick to abandon them...

I actually love looking at the Dogsblog dogs that are up though; I like looking at dogs that we would get or would suit our dog, and checking up on them until they go

This is Henry a 7 - 8 month old Boxer X Mastiff, so he will be a big boy! Still very puppyish in his ways and will need more basic training; a really happy boy.

18 month old Naila is a rottweiler cross who came in terribly underweight and with horribly infected skin. She is now recovered and gaining weight, loves other dogs, and needs her own family.

I would love this dog; this little darling is Poppy a 1 year old Staffy who was found straying. She is good with other dogs.

Thai is a 3 - 5 year old crossbreed who has been beaten and starved in his previous home. Because of this he can't cope at all with forceful humans, raised voices or anger. He's great with other dogs and is also fine with cats and rabbits, but has no recall off lead!

There is such sadness yet hope in Thai's eyes. I don't understand cruelty at all. Someone at work was tutting at me today because a colleague was telling us about the Romans cutting off the head of the winning horse in a race. I said "Oh how terrible" and she said (in a derogatory way) that I had more concern for animals than humans. (She is very religious too). I said I could understand their cruelty to humans of another religion as they feared them, and the humans could at least speak up for themselves, but why kill your fastest and strongest horse? She just said "hmm" and went back to work. (It was a sacrifice to the Gods apparently).

I'd rather spend time with animals than humans any day!

Kate, I'd rather spend time with animals over people any day, and I think you handled the other person very well. I hate people like that...I'm constantly arguing with people over Staffy's ("Ugh they're just pit bulls, they kill children!"). Joe, who has walked Gypsy at Animal Care, says I shouldn't get her because she is a Staffy and aggressive...she is the least aggressive dog ever, he only says it to wind me up - which works! Gypsy's the dog AC use to test how aggressive new dogs are with strange dogs!!

I know tell me about it, I always see dogs I want!! It's terrible, Lyle first warned that we're not getting more than two dogs - I've pushed that up to three now!!

Benson is a 3 year old Staffy cross Mastiff. He was abused and has scarring on his back from where he was set on fire. Even so he is a friendly loving dog, great with children and most other dogs (he can have a problem with dominant male dogs)

Cassie is a 6 month old Collie cross who is good with other dogs and need an energetic new home!

[the dog I was about to put up next has been rehomed already - success! :) ]

Dixie is a 2 - 4 year old Rottie girl who is very energetic. She loves everyone, big and small, and is a real sweetheart.

Annie is a 7 year old Staffy and a very easygoing dog; she just needs some nice walks and lots of TLC!

Fletcher is a 2 year old Boxer x Staffy - look at that face, squeee! He is fab with dogs, cats and kids, and the only negative thing is that he can jump up in excitement sometimes, and that's nothing!

Daisy is a 14 month old American Bulldog cross. She was brought in as her owner used to beat her; her next door neighbour feared for Daisy's life and finally intervened and rescued the dog. Daisy was a little timid at first but is now shining through, and loves other dogs and children.

Saskia is a 6 month old collie who is quiet and shy; she needs patient owners who will work on building her confidence. She is fine with other dogs.

People get collies because they look cute, like to be walked and played with - but they underestimate just how much time and effort they need and they're not prepared to put it in. Busy lives seem to take priority over the needs of the dog.

What a wonderful neighbour Daisy had! I suppose that's another good person to add to the list Volka!

True Kate, collies need a lot of effort!

Finny is a 4 year old Lurcher who looks a lot like my Gypsy girl. He is fine with other dogs, children and strangers and absolutely loves to run!

Mavis is a 2 - 3 year old Dogue De Bordeaux cross. She is gorgeous! She is also incredibly strong and can only be walked on a head collar. She is fine with other dogs off-lead and loves to play, but can be protective of her owner when approached by dogs on-lead.

Henry is a large 1 year old cross breed (Boxer cross Mastiff?) who loves to run and play! He was found straying after the riots and no owner came forwards. He's a big daft puppy and is good with people and other dogs but needs basic obedience training.

Ed is a 3 - 5 year old male Staffy cross Labrador. He has had a horrible horrible past and really deserves the best home ever. He isn't aggressive to people or dogs, but it's clear that he's been severely abused in the past...in fact his old owner evidently beat him with a lead, as Ed is terrified of them. He shows his fear not through aggression but by curling into a ball and trying to be invisible. He needs a home with a confident canine friend, a very patient gentle owner, and a very big and secure garden.

And finally Percival Pea, a 14 week old Greyhound cross Saluki puppy. He has had the saddest life ever; his mum was kept as an outdoor dog and kept in horrible conditions, and Percival Pea was born into this life. He lived outdoors with no shelter his whole life, developed horrible Mange and came into rescue with a horrible worm infestation. Despite this he is an incredibly friendly little boy and is great with children, other dogs, cats and small caged animals.

Some of these stories are heart breaking, penalties for mis treating animals just aren't harsh enough, i've always had rescue dogs and have had fantastic experiences, even with the huge ones, i've had a Bull Mastiff and an English Mastiff crossed with a rottie, people take on these cute bundles of fluff without researching what they will be when they grow up. This is an excellent post and I hope it reaches people in a position to help some of the dogs.

Some Dogsblog dogs - beware, these guys are all uber cute!

Ralph is the cutest 12 month old JRT boy ever. Look at those big ears and eyes! He is great with people and other dogs, and he's so small you can't even tell when he pulls on the lead!!

Harvey is a 4 year old Rottie who's owners can't cope as they've just had a baby. He's fabulous in every way (although his recall may need a little work) and is much loved by his owners. He has been fabulously brought up and trained and is a very well rounded dog.

This cutey pie is 8 month old Tom, a male Staffy (cross I think). He was found straying and loves people, but the rescue hasn't had the time to test him with other dogs just yet, although he seems okay. He has the most gorgeous eyes!

Elle is a 7 year old Staffy girl, and is one of Lyle's favourites  She is in perfect health, enjoys her exercise, loves people and is great with other dogs!

Max is a 2 year old Doberman who enjoys lots of exercise! He is good with people and other dogs, but not cats, and can live with children over 8 years old.

Buzz is a 3 year old Springer Spaniel who's owner has had to return to working long hours. He loves his exercise and enjoys the company of people and other dogs. He could live with a very confident cat but will chase if it runs. He can't live with small furries as he will chase and kill them especially, erm, rabbits!

Beautiful Bianca is a 3 year old Staffy with those huge Staffy eyes! She loves people and is great with other dogs, and would love a home before Christmas.

And finally Gary, a 1 year old Staffy cross boy who was another found straying. He loves to play, with people and other dogs, and is lovely!

DD is a 1 - 2 year old Collie cross Dalmation / Irish Setter. She has been let down in the past by adoptees and rescues, and has been in her foster home since the age of 4 months. She is a great dog, very active who loves children and other dogs, and even though she is deaf she is great off lead.

Casper is a 2 year old Bull Mastiff who is great with other dogs. He is very cuddley (and slobbery!) and could possible live with cats - beware, he is a big friendly boy weighing in at 45kg!

A pregnant Lurcher brought in to rescue gave birth to 12 adorable Lurcher cross (possibly Collie) pups. They are soo cute, and there's a very cute video of them play fighting on Dogsblog too!

Ozzie is a 3 year old Springer cross Lab (same as Vince) but he looks completely different and absolutely beautiful! He finds himself looking for a new home due to the arrival of a new baby, and is good with other dogs.

Marley is a beautiful 18 month old Staffy cross; isn't she gorgeous?! I love tan Staffies  She is good with other dogs, house trained, travels well in the car and loves a good run in the park. She can also be left for up to 5 hours.

Kano is a 5 year old beautiful GSD cross Lab. He walks well on the lead, is good with other dogs and is fine to live with children over ten.

Jessie is a 2 year old Staffy cross who is good with other dogs and friendly with people. She has come in to rescue with scars on her shoulder and missing an ear, possibly hacked off.

Molly is a happy and loving 3 year old Staffy girl. She is very playful, likes other dogs and can live with children over ten. And she has a fabulous smile!

Staffies have the best smiles :)

This gorgeous little JRT cross is Ella, and she is 18 months old. She sounds like an amazing dog; she is fantastic with other dogs, brilliant with strangers, is crate trained and travels well in the car. She is sooo cute!

Ally is a 5 - 6 months old Collie who loves everything and everyone - dogs, kids, strangers, cats, balls, everything! She has a gentle nature and just wants to play and have fun.

Poppy is an 18 month old Collie who is very nervous. When unsure or scared she retreats into herself and likes to hide in corners. She is lovely and has now started looking to the people she has been in foster with for cuddles and play. She also likes the other dog she shares the home with. She just needs some confidence building.

Some 13 week old Springer cross Collie puppies that are very playful and energetic. Can be homed with cats, kids and dogs - daww!

Nolly is an amazing 4 year old Basset Hound. She is amazing because in two and a half weeks she has gone from being a very frightened dog to a delightful, charming and full of beans hound!

Misty is a 10 months old Springer cross Collie (I wonder why she's been handed in at that age? :001_rolleyes: ) who gets on with other dogs and cats. She is very energetic and slightly nervous around strangers due to lack of socialisation, but once she knows them she gets on well with them.

And lastly Bruce is a 3 year old gorgeous Bulldog cross. He is good with people, kids and other dogs, but is a little strong on the lead. Found stray and will make the best dog in the right home.

There's another dog that I would absolutely love to have, with Kasper, and this time it's not a Staffie! Even more surprisingly, it's a Saluki cross, a breed which I'm really not a fan of (shocking I know!). She's very cute though. Her name is Bella, she's three years old, loves to play and live with other dogs, may be able to live with cats with careful introductions, and is used to being walked offlead with good recall.

Another gorgeous dog I would snap up if we were looking for a male, Smudge is a 1-2 year old Staffy. He is described as being the kindest and gentlest Staffy you could wish to meet, and doesn't have a bad bone in his body. He loves other dogs and everyone and everything!

Boots is a 2 year old Staffy who was found stray tied to a tree. He is very dog friendly and playful, and has a heart of gold. He does pull a little on the lead at the start of a walk but soon settles.

Boots is a 1 year old cross-breed, he definitely has Staffy in him somewhere! He is still a puppy and is very bouncy and playful. He is good with cats, kids and loves other dogs.

Patch is an affectionate 4 year old JRT who is proven to be good with kids and is okay with some other dogs.

Jack is a 15 month old male Staffy who adores people and enjoys the company of other dogs. He is good with children and loves cuddles!

I wasn't impressed with one rescue tonight that described one particular elderly Staffy as needing owners "that understand that she is typical of the breed in that she wants to be with humans but not fond of other canines"...that's simply not true, and there's no need for them to say that! There are plenty of dogs out there (especially old ones) that don't like other dogs, and to say that it's a Staffy trait is ridiculous!!

    Keeper of the hens

Kayleigh is a 12 - 18 month old Staffy cross, and this poor baby has already been bred from :( The vet thinks she only had her pups 2 weeks ago, but she has already found herself stray. She is good with other dogs and people, and is very sad in kennels looking for her puppies so needs a loving home ASAP.

Mia is another poor baby who has been bred from too young, she is only 18 months old and is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The vet says she only gave birth a few weeks ago and she is still producing milk (on pills to dry it up). She has never been socialised with other dogs and just needs her confidence building; she will meet them nicely outside if a little nervous, but should be the only dog in the home.

Jerry is a 10+ year old Springer in desperate need of a new home. No dog should be in kennels, but especially not a dog of his age. He is good with other dogs and takes treats very gently. He has had a haircut as he came in severely matted.

Lenny is a 5 year old Staffy boy and described as being 'super'! He walks well with all the dogs they have tried him with and shares his kennel with another Staffy.

Lex is a 9 month old male Border Collie who can live with children aged 4+ and is good with other dogs. He needs lots of exercise and is good offlead.

Oscar is a 2 year old male Springer who has lots of energy. He is used to living with children and is good with other dogs.

Poppy is 18 months old, a crossbreed, and has sadly been abandoned after being used for breeding. She is distressed in kennels looking for her puppies but is still just a baby herself. She can be rehomed with children, is good with other dogs and loves people. She is a little underweight but will soon be back to normal.

And finally Rosie, a 2 1/2 year old Staffy who has recently given birth. She has obviously been abused and starved for some time, and is described as being like a skeleton with skin stretched over it. She desperately needs a calm, quiet, understanding and most of all loving home where she can be treated as well as she deserves.

She adores people and just wants to be cuddles and reassured all day. I really hope she gets a good home soon.

Even more dogs been bred from, abused and abandoned at the moment; the puppies will be old enough to be sold in time for Christmas you see

Roxy is an amazing female Staffy who is 4-5 years old. She loves people, other dogs and has tested well with cats. She also adores playing with a tennis ball.

Liv is an 18 month old Staffy who looks a bit of a bruiser but this couldn't be further from the truth! Dumped after giving birth she is great with other dogs and people, is sweet natured and responsive to commands.

Finn is a 5-6 month old Border Collie who is good with other dogs, friendly and enjoys playing fetch. He can live with children 5+ and is housetrained.

Callie is a 12 month old crossbreed who is great with people, children, dogs and cats!! What a great girl!

Ruby is a female 14 month old Boxer / Boxer cross. She adores people, children and other dogs. She also has brilliant recall and will back up when called so you can clip her lead onto her harness. She is fantastic around food and doesn't mind having her food taken off her or the other dogs trying to steal it!!

Apollo is a male GSD and has had a terrible first five years. Despite this he is a real gem, but he does need a little help with his house training. He is fantastic with other dogs, energetic but not hyper, and everything currently is new to him. He is great on-lead, in public places and at the vets!

    Keeper of the hens

Freckles is an insanely cute Border Collie cross Springer - a Kasper dog! She is just a baby at 4 months and needs an active home. She is good with people and dogs, can live with children 5+ and has been ignoring the dog-confident cats in the home.

Dooley is a 3.5 male ex-racing greyhound. He is a lovely intelligent boy who is quick to learn - he picked up the agility course after just one lesson! However he needs a forever or foster home ASAP as he is very depressed and lonely in kennels, possibly because he is used to (and loves) living with other dogs.

Alfie is an adorable 8 week old Springer puppy in need of a new home - I'm sure he won't be waiting long! Young enough to be introduced to living with kids, cats and other dogs!

Hector is a 4 year old Basset Hound, and is very handsome! He has lived with other dogs and could do so again. He is good on the lead, but should not be let off unless in fenced-in areas as he is a hound and will follow his nose anywhere!!

Nina is a 4 - 5 Mastiff-cross puppy, so she will probably be a big girl! She is good with other dogs, can live with children 8+, and will need to attend puppy training classes.

Cassie is a beautiful female Staffy, who is 9 years young and acts much younger! She is a confident girl and has been well-socialised with people and other dogs, can live with another dog and children 5+. She would be a great first-time dog and is even good off-lead!

    Keeper of the hens

All those people who say they don't get rescue dogs because they want purebreeds (which is rubbish because a) they could try a breed specific rescue and b) EVERY rescue has at least one pure breed!) here are some beautiful Dogue De Bordeaux for you!

Hector is a 3 year old male DDB. He is a real ladies man, playful and is good with other dogs. He is a little chubby so his new owner/s need to continue the work started at the rescue in helping him lose weight.

Sandy is a 5 year old female JRT. She is a very sad and scared little girl who desperately needs a JRT experienced family. She adores other dogs but doesn't like any other animals. She is comfortable with women but is very scared of men, and has never had the opportunity to learn recall or walk on a lead.

Willow and Gracie are 6 and 3 year old female DDB who would love to be rehomed together as they are best friends. They are both good with other dogs and are just dream girls.

Diesel is a 4 year old DDB who loves to be outside, walking and having fun. However he also loves sleeping on the sofa, a very easy boy to please! He is also good with other dogs.

Buck is a 3 - 5 male JRT cross what looks like Staffy. He is a little shy, but good with people, children and has been fine with all the dogs he has met. He walks lovely on a lead and is a real cutey - he does snore though!!

Lex is a 6 month old Staffy female; she is a pup in an adult's body! She LOVES playing with children and other dogs, all she wants to do is play all day with them. She does need further training, and is fine being touched all over.

Ted is a 9 year old Rottie boy who is good with all other dogs of varying sizes - he is currently in foster with other Rotties, a Springer and two JRTs! He still enjoys a nice walk and would make a good companion for anybody.

Emily is a beautiful 4 year old female Bedlington Terrier cross girl. She walks well on the lead and is quiet as a mouse. She is good with people and other dogs, she came in very underweight but is putting it back on now.

Ah, we will definitely be fostering dogs when we have our own place! Hopefully Kasper will have calmed down just a little by then too haha! We've already admitted that even if we have two dogs at the time, and foster one we absolutely adore, we will adopt him / her

At the moment Lyle has said we aren't allowed more than three dogs at a time, but I am working on it. It was only one at first!! :rolling:

Jojo is a 10 year old male JRT cross who has come into rescue as his much loved owner has sadly passed away. He is good with other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog in the home, simply because he deserves his own space and relaxation at his age.

Max is a 9 year old Staffy and another golden oldie! He has a very laid back nature and loves having a fuss made of him. He needs the perfect retirement home he deserves.

Zara is a 2 year old crossbreed who is gentle but playful too. She is young and energetic, but needs a home without children as she is scared of rough handling.

Dawn is a 1 year old Staffy girl. She is very young and joyful with a lot of energy; described as outgoing and fun!

Diesel is a friendly 3 year old male Staffy. He is calm and very friendly, and has been overlooked many times simply because of his breed :(

Roll up roll up, please form an orderly cue for the lovely Lola! Lola is a 12 month old female Staffy, absolutely adorable and she loves everyone and everything.

Tilly is another stunning Staffy female who is 18 months old. She has lived with children and other dogs before, walks well on the lead, and is a happy friendly girl who loves a cuddle!

Woody is a 3 year old Chinese Crested male, a very rare breed. He is looking for a home with someone who has owned this breed before, or has researched it thoroughly. He is good with dogs and children.

Doobie is an 8 week old Cocker Spaniel cross puppy, he can be homed with children, other dogs and cats because of his young age.

    Keeper of the hens

Lara is A 10 - 12 year old, blind BC. She is in need of a very understanding home, no dog at her age and in her condition should be left in rescue over winter. She has very poor coat condition and weak back legs due to long-time abuse and lack of exercise. She needs walks building up slowly and her owner will need to be her eyes for her. She does okay with dogs and cats when introduced, but otherwise they can make her nervous as she can't see them. Likewise she shouldn't be homed with young children as sometimes, when touched unexpectedly, she can snap in that direction. This is not through aggression, it's just fear because she cannot see. She is a lovely old lady in need of a very special home.

Leti is a 12 - 18 month old GSD cross Rottie. She has excellent recall and enjoys carrying a ball or lead in her mouth. She is bouncy and playful, good with people and strangers. Probably not to live with cats, and hasn't been tested with dogs just yet, although hasn't shown any aggression.

Rusty is a 10 year old cross-breed, probably with some Golden Retriever in there, and was handed back into rescue due to a marriage break up. He is a very youthful 10 year old and loves people and cuddles. He gets along fine with dogs and cats, although can bark if a little unsure when meeting dogs on-lead. He would prefer to be rehomed as an only dog or with a calmer middle-aged dog.

Jenny is a 1 year old JRT (cross?) and a very happy and easy going girl. She can be a little unsure in herself, but that's to be expected at her age and in her circumstances. She loves playing with other dogs and can keep up with the fastest of breeds, and is happy to meet people out and about.

Poppy is a 6 year old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She came into rescue due to a family break up and is very sad at losing her home and family. She is a loving little dog, although can be nervous of young children, so will be rehomed with children over ten. She is fine with other dogs and dog savvy cats.

Angela is a beautiful Staffy female, who is 3 - 4 years old. She was found as a stray and was probably dumped as her owners couldn't cope with her behaviour in the firework season, as she is very scared of them. Instead of trying to help her, her owners threw out. She is great little dog and loves playing with other canines.

Angel is around 10 months old and a female Staffy pup. She came in horribly underweight and had deep cuts around her neck and nose where she had been tied up. Despite all that she has recovered well and is a gorgeous young pup. She LOVES other dogs and could easily live with another. She does need training continued and can't live with young children as she is too bouncy for them. Here are some before and after pics:

    And yesterday's dogs!

Doris is yet another golden oldie, a 10 year old Staffy. Her and another dog were found tied to a post with injuries that looked as if they had been dragged by a car. Doris is very sociable out and about and loves playing with other dogs despite her age.

Dilly is a 2 year old Staffy. He is a lovely boy who walk well on lead does need further training off-lead. He is great with other dogs and could be rehomed with children dependant on age.

Flynn is a 9 month old Collie boy who is stunning. He is great with other dogs, good on and off lead, but needs plenty of exercise!

Monty is an 8 - 9 year old Springer Spaniel who is very confused to find himself in rescue. He has never lived with another dog but is dog friendly. His tail never stops wagging!

Hooch is an 18 month old Staffy and is the perfect dog - he would be an ideal for first time dog owners! He walks nicely on the lead, has good recall, is already well trained, good with his food, house trained, non destructive and good with other dogs!!

Penny is a 12 year old Miniature Poodle who came in very neglected. After a severe haircut and bath she is feeling much better, and is a lovely quiet girl. She is good with other dogs and cats, and needs a quiet new home for her retirement years.

Yep they're from rescues up and down the UK. Some are even in other countries, just waiting for a perfect home before travelling to the UK! A lot of the rescues will rehome anywhere in the UK though, if you make the effort to go see them.

Rolo is a 12 week old Staffy cross pup, and isn't he gorgeous! He is clever, obedient and very playful. He can live with other dogs, dog savvy children, and is young enough to be introduced to cats. His house training is progressing well.

Minnie is a very unusual and pretty American Bulldog cross. She is 7 months old and very much the mischievous puppy! She is playful, energetic and very difficult to wear out.

Pip is an 11 week old Shih Tzu cross Bichon Frise puppy who was handed in by his breeder as he is blind. He is coping remarkably well despite this, and would love to live with another doggy friend to be his eyes and help him out!

Barney is an 8 month old Rottie cross Bloodhound, unusual mix I know! He is a great boy, although he came in with horrible mange and an ear infection these are both cleared up now. He is great with people and other dogs and loves his cuddles.

Lavender is a stunning 18 month old Staffy female who has sadly been used for breeding and abandoned. She is very scared in rescue and looking for her pups, so needs an owner who will take the time to help her gain confidence. She is great with people and other dogs and just needs that loving forever home.

Bessie is a 2 year old American Bulldog cross Staffy and is another that has been dumped after breeding. She is a happy and affectionate girl who is good with people and other dogs, but can only live with children over 12 due to her size!

Rusty is a 2 year old Staffy cross female. She came in very underweight, but is slowly putting it back on. She is good with other dogs, people and can be rehomed with children over 10.

Tini is a very small 10 month old female crossbreed - she looks like a 10 week old puppy! She is good with other dogs as long as they are not too big, as big dogs scare her! She could live with a small or medium sized doggy friend. She is also fine with cats and will be rehomed with children over 12.

Think I'd better stop now, there are loads of gorgeous dogs on the site today! :P

Also, All Dogs Matter rescue in London is having a Staffy awareness month where people can find their perfect Staffy and pay a minimum donation of £50 (it's usually double that). They do this quite often and I think it's a great idea; they put a lot of time and effort in to make sure the family's matched with the right dog for them.

Woody is a 3 - 5 year old female JRT cross. She gets on well with other dogs but could live happily as an only dog if the right home came up.Woody is fine to be left, travels well and is good with older children.

Henry is a handsome Setter cross Golden Retriever boy. He is very sweet and is good with other dogs and older children. He travels well in the car, is calm and clean in the home, good on lead and fine to live with cats.

Lola is a gorgeous and big 2 year old Mastiff cross. Lola has mild brain damage due to beatings and abuse in the past, but this does not affect her at all apart from sometimes when she is off-lead she will get confused and forget how to get back to you! This causes no problems though, you just need to keep an eye on her and give her vocal commands to stay close.

She is fantastic in the house, fine to be left for up to 5 hours, excellent with other dogs and people, naturally submissive, loves cuddles and tries to convince you she is a lap dog!! She is brilliant on and off lead, and good with all the farm animals.

Clifford is a 10 month old chocolate Lab boy, and is still just a puppy. He will need a home that can offer plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, and company. He is very loving, fine with other dogs and children, and could possibly live with cats. He does need a secure enclosed garden and will need to attend training classes.

Barley is a beautiful Golden Retriever cross puppy of just 5 months. He is adorable, good with other dogs, can live with children 5+ and is young enough to be introduced to cats.

Herbie is an adorable 5 month old Cocker Spaniel x Lab puppy. He is gentle, good with other dogs, cats and can live with children 5+.

Joy is an insanely cute 2 - 3 year old Staffy. She is fabulous with other dogs and can live with others, walks well on the lead, and travels well - in both the car and on the train. She also knows basic commands.

Sox and his brother Billy are 11 week old Boxer cross puppies. They are only young so could easily live with other dogs, be introduced to cats and children 5+. These puppies needs homes where they aren't left alone too long, and someone can take the time to go to training classes and socialise them properly.

Tess is a beautiful ex-working Springer female who is 4 years old. She needs an experienced Springer or similar breed mix home, as she does show the usual bored OCD Springer traits such as licking windows and chasing shadows. She doesn't have a bad bone in her body and is an affectionate girl.

May is an 8 year old Patterdale terrier who has obviously been beaten with a lead in the past as she is terrified of them. She is hand shy and must have had horrible experiences in her past. She must live with a gentle calm owner and other dogs, as she gains confidence from them.

Lulu is a gorgeous 6 year old female Staffy. She is fun loving and friends with everyone, and just wants a home before Christmas.

Cleo is a 1 year old female Staffy who is just beautiful. She is great with people, children and other dogs, and is bags of fun! She knows basic commands and loves playing with her ball. She can live with children 8+ but no cats.

Kerry is a sweet 3 year old Staffy who is good with kids and other dogs. She loves nothing more than sitting on the sofa for cuddles and giving Staffy kisses! She can be left for up to 3 hours without being destructive.

Milee is a 21 month old Labrador who will probably get snatched up very quickly! She has had to come into rescue thanks to a relationship breakdown. She is already well trained, loves living with other dogs, but is extremely energetic and playful. She does pull on lead but this can be worked on.

George is an 18 month old Collie cross Greyhound. He was originally adopted from a rescue in the US, but his owner finds himself unable to keep him. George has been well loved and well trained. He is good with people, fine with other dogs and even has good recall - odd for a greyhound cross!

Shelly is a stunning 20 week old Staffy cross pup who was found abandoned. Despite this she is fab with people, loves children, other dogs and can even live with cats!

We had her from a puppy - about 8 weeks old I think. She didn't understand English at first (my nan's cousin was Welsh and spoke that as her first language!) Luckily there was a lady that lived a little further up our road who was also Welsh, so we asked her to come and help. She told Judy the Welsh:English for various things (walk, food, lead, wee!) and it was so lovely to see our puppy wagging her tail for the first time in days! She told Judy we were nice people who were going to love her and look after her forever, and after that she was fine!

Hmm, Collie when out and about, but whippet in the house. I'd never met such an intelligent dog as her, and she was very intuitive. Don't know which part of her genes that came from!

    Ha, that's funny!

Some dogs from yesterday, as they weren't all put up until today:

Buttons is a 9 month old female Staffy cross (possibly English Bull Terrier judging by the shape of her head?). She is gorgeous, placid and well mannered, and needs a happy, active family. She is good with people and other dogs, and can live with children 10+.

Ben is a 10 month old Beagle cross Labrador. Although he hasn't had any real training he is very willing to learn! He is good with other dogs and although has had a bad start in life he is very forgiving and loves to go on long walks.

Timmy is a perfect 2 year old male Staffy. He loves to be out walking and playing with other dogs, and gets on well with humans old and young! Very lovely dog

Zeus is a 4 year old Akita who is very calm, but also loves to play. He has shown no signs of RG and walks well on the lead. Zeus is good with all dogs and is currently living with a GSD.

Daisy-May is a 10 month old female Staffy girl. She is just gorgeous but will need an active home where she will have two good countryside walks a day and extra play times! She is fine with other dogs and children, and can even live with a cat or two!

Eddie is a 2 year old male Rottie who was brought in due to a call about domestic violence. He was found locked in a cupboard after being beaten. He is a real softy and had lived with another dog and a 6 month old baby. He is currently in foster wih a Rottie and 2 Mastiffs. He does pull a little on the lead but this can be worked on.

    And some from today!

Stanley is a 7 year old male Springer Spaniel who is in need of a loving home asap. It's thought he is an escaped farm dog. He was very thin when found and cowers when people move their hands quickly near him. He would probably be best as an only dog as he does get jealous when other dogs receive attention.

Dotty is a 3 year old Staffy girl who was found stray and put in the pound. She is very Staffy in nature as she simply adores humans of all ages, and especially children. She seems very dog friendly although has not been properly tested yet, and even wags her tail at the cats that come in her fosterer's garden!

Django is a 16 month old cross-breed that the rescue has listed as a Doberman cross, but I see Staffy in there! He is dog friendly but would probably be best to live as an only dog as this boy likes lots of attention! He is high energy so does need lots of physical and mental exercise, and does need some training - he is very willing to learn!

Hi Shadow! I think they are from all over the country - Red gets the pics and info from www.dogsblog.com (link is in the first post at the top of the page). Otherwise I am sure there will be a Dogs Trust (www.dogstrust.org.uk) up your way (it's in Huyton, Liverpool if you know where that is), or a council 'pound' that might have something suitable.

    Keeper of the hens

Hi Shadow, :welcome:! Glad you decided to post

As Kate said, all these dogs are listed on the Dogsblog website. If you go to their site you can "choose Criteria" and look at dogs based near to where you live. I'll try find some dogs that are faintly close and that might fit what you are looking for:

Dottie, the white Staffy girl listed above, is located in Crewe I think. She's a sweet girl who is good with cats and, although they haven't properly dog tested her yet, she has been friendly with all she has met so far.

There are some contact details for her kennels here, and you could ask if they rehome in Liverpool:
    http://www.dogsblog.com/author/doris-banham-sanctuary-lincolnshire/

Pepsi is a 2 year old Maltese cross Yorkshire Terrier. She is good with other dogs and very calm.

    Here's the rescue's contact details:
    http://www.dogsblog.com/author/rspca-lincolnshire-east-branch/

Ruby is a 2 year old JRT who gets on well with dogs. She is very cheeky and fun to have around!

    Contact details:

    http://www.dogsblog.com/author/dog-samaritans-shropshire/

These dogs are from Liverpool Dog Rescue 1990 http://www.animalaid1990.webs.com/

Gracie is a 2 year old, listed as a JRT but looks more Yorkshire Terrier really. She is not cat friendly but is good with other dogs and has good recall.

Mya is a 12 month old Lab girl, she is good with other dogs but is VERY bouncy and will need a lot of work putting into her!

These are from Freshfields Animal Rescue, there's one in Liverpool and one in North Wales too. They don't have any suitable dogs listed on the Liverpool site, but here are some from North Wales:

Leti is a big teddy bear! She is a 12 - 18 month old Rottie cross GSD. She has excellent recall but does pull on the lead a little. She probably couldn't live with cats but may be able to live with dogs; they haven't tested her yet but will do if requested.

Sally is a 3 year old JRT x Whippet. She could possibly live with cats and can live with dogs, although she can be dominant. However she needs a special home as she is completely deaf.

You also might want to take a look at the Animals In Need listing page, as they're in Liverpool I think: http://www.animals-in-need.co.uk/dogsneedinghomes.htm

Liverpool RSPCA also has these dogs that may be suitable, and their website is here... http://www.rspcaliverpoolbranch.co.uk/content/Doglist.aspx

These dogs are listed by RSPCA Liverpool:

Trixie is a 2 year old Staffy female who is suitable to live with other dogs and very playful.

Daisy is a 4 year old Staffy girl who is suitable to live with children 5+ and can live with other dogs.

And finally there is the Manchester and Salford RSPCA branch...contact details are quoted below, so you could phone them and ask if they have any suitable dogs in:

For further details regarding dogs available for adoption from RSPCA Manchester and Salford, please telephone 0161 882 0680 or email rspcamcr_salford@btconnect.com or visit www.rspca-manchesterandsalford.org.uk Address: RSPCA Manchester and Salford Branch, 565 Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester, M21 9AE.

Phew! :) That's all I could find for now, good luck finding the right dog!!

Oh, also, a lot of rescues will rehome right across the UK so it's always worth looking about and asking rescues even that are miles away what their homing policy is.

    Keeper of the hens

Martha is a 4 year old Mastiff cross who was found wandering a graveyard on Halloween!! So far she has been fine meeting other dogs, if a little timid - she doesn't realise how big she is  She is also fully housetrained.

Ella is a gorgeous and unusual looking 2 year old Staffy. She loves tummy rubs and to be cuddled, and is great with other dogs. She is currently in foster with a young JRT and puts up with his manic behaviour well! Ella is fully housetrained, and loves going for walks and meeting new friends.

Pip is a 4 year old female Staffy cross. She is a loving, lively, fun girl and is affectionate with everyone, no matter what the situation - even the vets! She walks well on the lead and has great recall, but still needs to learn a few commands such as 'leave' and 'stay.'

Marley is a handsome male 10 month old Border Collie cross. His owner bought him on a whim and, having no dog experience, is unable to cope with such a high energy dog. He is desperate for a home that can offer lots of exercise, with a stable routine and some structure. He can live with other dogs and children.

Honey Bee is a 5 month old female Pomeranian. She needs a very special home. She can live with one other dog, as she does think she's the bee's knees and will be pushy with other dogs. She needs to learn not to bark at strangers, and can't live with under 16's. She also must sleep on your pillow at night, so if you don't want a dog on the furniture she is not for you!

Sammy is a 10 month old Collie boy aged about 10 months old. When he first came in he was petrified of everything, even his own shadow. He has gained a lot of confident in kennels, but is still quite timid. He would be best homed with another dog/s, as he loves his canine friends and will gain confidence from them.

    Keeper of the hens

Sooty is a shy 9 week old male JRT cross toy poodle. He can be nervous in new situation, but he is only a puppy and going through the standard puppy fear periods, so as any puppy would he needs gentle socialisation with people, animals, places etc. He must be homed with another dog so that he can grow confidence and learn from them.

Ella is a 6 year old Beagle girl. She is mostly calm, but does half her mad half hour where she loves to play with her canine friends and is very playful. She should be homed with other dogs as she adores their company, but likewise enjoys her snuggles on the couch with her human friends - if you don't want a dog to be on the furniture, Ella is not for you!

Poppy is a pedigree English Pointer girl aged 2 - 3 years, and currently in a rescue in Greece, waiting for a home in the UK. She mixes very well with other dogs and is desperate for a loving family home of her own.

Rowna is a gorgeous 2 year old Setter cross in a rescue in Greece needing a very special home ASAP. She is a gorgeous girl and is missing an eye, but this doesn't bother her at all. She is very timid and has obviously had some bad experiences in the past. She arrived very underweight but is gaining slowly, and although very scared of people she doesn't run away, just sits and shakes. She mixes well with dogs and needs to live in a calm quiet home with another dog where she can learn people are friendly and gain confidence from the other dog.

Edith is a gorgeous 3 year old British Bulldog cross. She is a small squat bundle of love and fun, and has been fine with all the dogs she has met. She greets people well and is anxious to love, kiss and cuddle them all! Edith can live with children aged 8 years plus, another dog but no cats please - she would love a home for Christmas!

Penny is an 8 month old cross-breed, possibly Lab cross. She is a gorgeous lively young pup, who is fine with strangers, children, dogs and even cats! Her new family will need to take her to puppy socialisation and training to make sure she grows into a well-rounded adult dog. She is currently living with three other dogs in foster and is no trouble. She is walked off-lead and never strays far, and her recall is good.

Casper is a 2 year old male JRT who was found straying. He is good with people and other dogs, and is a very lively young boy who will need lots of walks and play time! He loves playing with his ball, walks well on the lead, is housetrained and travels well in the car.

    Keeper of the hens

There are a lot of puppies on Dogsblog at the moment, I assume BYB timed them nicely for Christmas but then when nobody wanted them they got dumped...

Sasha is a female Springer x Collie who is 17 weeks old. She is a little shy but that's to be expected after her turbulent life so far; she just needs lots of TLC! She is currently in foster in a multi-dog and cat household. She will need lots of exercise and mental stimulation as she grows.

Chrissie is a female tri-coloured Staffie girl of 16 weeks old, who was found straying. She is a very loving pup and loves playing with her toys, and needs to go to a positive family who will continue socialisation and training

Skye is a gorgeous Staffy cross who was found at night taped into a cardboard box, at just 4 weeks old. Now 7 weeks old she is full of fun and life, and ready to start thinking about her future home. She will need lots of love, playtime and training to grow into a happy and well adjusted dog.

Reggie is an 11 week old Mastiff cross puppy who came in very underweight and scared. He is now gaining in confidence and weight, and needs a loving family to live with. He can live with children 12+ - Reggie is going to be a big boy! - and a female dog.

Candy is a 16 week old Staffy x Lab pup. She is playfull and needs a loving family home. She can live with children 8+, other dogs and is young enough to be introduced to cats.

Mischief is an 8 week old Lurcher cross who came into rescue with his 7 siblings. He loves to play, run and jump, and is good with other dogs but a bit shy with them - he is happy to say hello but needs positive socialisation and training to build his confidence.

    Keeper of the hens

Stanley is a 6 month old male Great Dane cross puppy. He needs a loving family to offer him stability throughout his teenage puppy months, and to give him positive training and ongoing socialisation. He walks okay on-lead, loves other dogs and will try to play, and is good with children - he is in foster with two very young children and really good with them.

Bruno is a 3 year old boy who is thought to be Collie x Lurcher. He is good with other dogs, walks nicely on-lead and even has good recall off-lead - very unusual for a lurcher!! He can be possessive of toys and high value items, but is learning that trading them for something better is a positive. He needs ongoing positive training in this area.

Vinnie is a male 9 month old Lab cross Collie puppy. He walks well on-lead, is good with children, other dogs, and cats! He is calm and isn't easily excited (amazing considering his age and breed mixes!) and has medium energy levels so would need two good walks a day. He also really enjoys training.

Stanley is a gorgeously cute Staff cross Lab puppy, estimated to be no older than 12 months and possibly several months younger. He doesn't have a bad bone in his body and is friends with everyone.

Billy is a 13 month old Patterdale Terrier boy who has come in due to a relationship breakdown. He adores people, travels well in the car, loves his walks, and is good with most other dogs. He could live with a female dog.

Peter is a beautiful male 3 year old Staffy who came into rescue in a terrible state, scared and starved, and was seized from his owner. He is a very gentle dog and could easily be owned by a first time dog owner, and he can live as an only dog or with another dog/s. He is still recovering from his ordeal and building his health back up, and needs a little help with housetraining (which he has almost mastered fully now), but he is gaining confidence out on walks and loves meeting human visitors. He needs a gentle, loving family to train him positively and show him the life he has missed out on so far.

    Keeper of the hens

    Lots of gorgeous dogs today!

Bambi is a 5 - 6 month old terrier cross puppy, and she loves being picked up and cuddled. She is great with other dogs, and loves to play with the confident cats in her foster home (she will need continued socialisation with all other animals) and she can live with children 6+.

Molly is a sprightly 7 year old Patterdale Terrier. She is friendly and affectionate, but cannot be rehomed with cats and small furries. She is good with dogs, loves her walks and plenty of play.

Pippa is a 1 year old beautiful whippet girl. She is good with other dogs (currently in foster with six), travels well in the car, and her recall is perfect (amazing for a whippet!). Her only problem is that she has separation anxiety and can be vocal, but this can be helped massively with training and patience.

Pippy is a 6 month old Staffy cross terrier puppy (possibly a JRT) He is full of beans and enjoys chewing, but hasn't chewed anything he's not supposed to whilst in foster. He loves to play with other dogs, and enjoys 'scrapping' with the other JRTs in foster, but if it gets too intense he runs to his foster's knee! He is full of cuddles, love and fun.

Samson is a male Collie cross aged 2 years old. He loves walks on the beach, to be talked to, and is good with children. He knows a few basic commands and is a very friendly boy.

Megan is a beautiful 3 year old Boxer x Mastiff girl who is fabulous. She was found straying and the vet says she gave birth less than 2 weeks ago, so has been used for breeding. We don't know what happened to her pups. She is described as being 'bombproof', she is good with cats, kids and dogs, and her recall is perfect. She is also good around food and fine with people - the perfect dog!

Sugar is a 2 year old female pug cross, looks like crossed with a Staffy. She's described as being 'pug-like' in nature, and has a cute poke-out tongue! She's quite excitable but should calm down with proper exercise.

Penny is a female Staffy cross. She's only 2 years old and has very unusual markings. She adores people and gets so excited when she sees anybody in kennels that she has made her tail sore whacking it against the kennel wall!

Boss is a 14 month old English Bull Mastiff boy who only has three legs (unknown why as he was found stray with no history, but it doesn't bother him in any way). He is a gorgeously friendly dog, very friendly and good with both children and dogs.

Ed is a handsome 18 month old Staffy cross boy. He is only young and loves playing with his toys, and is also good with other dogs, people and children 12+ simply because of his size.

Rocky is a 3 year old American Bulldog boy who loves to lean against you for cuddles and love. He seems okay with other dogs and will need ongoing training.

Dodger is an unusual English Bull Terrier cross American Bulldog - what a breed mix, I'd snatch him up right now if I could! He's just 12 months and still very much a puppy. He is a cheeky boy who is good with other dogs, but will need training.

    Keeper of the hens

The post-Christmas pups are still coming in thick and fast :(

Two 15 week old Collie x Cocker Spaniel looking for their forever home. Good with other dogs and children and young enough to be socialised with cats.

Bobby and Becky are 9 week old Patterdale Terrier puppies. They are adorable, good with other dogs, kids and young enough to integrate with cats. These two need a loving home, and can easily be separated.

Chris is a 7 - 8 week old Staffy cross whose owners BYB their mother to earn some money over Christmas. When their owner realised he wouldn't be getting the £100 asking price he handed the litter into rescue. Chris is a sweetheart and could easily live with other dogs, kids and cats.

Tilly is a pretty 21 month old Staffy girl. She is great with other dogs and very bouncy and fun to be around, although happy to settle for the rest of the day after a nice walk. She would love to live with other doggies!

Sally is an 8 month old Collie x Spaniel who needs a home that understands her needs. She came from a home with young children and could live with them aged 6+ again. She is good with other dogs but the rescue feels she would be best on her own for 1:1 training as she needs a LOT of physical and mental stimulation.

Frankie is a 10 and a half week old Whippet cross, thought to be whippet x collie. He is an adorable boy, sweet and cuddly, and good to live with dogs, kids and intro'd to cats.

Four 11 week old Staffy puppies in need of loving homes! All happy and bouncy, can live with other dogs, kids and cats.

Reg is a 9 month old St Bernard who is a lovely boy! Good with kids and other dogs, although his size must be taken into account as he can accidentally crush them! He is also fine with cats. Potential owners need to consider the large food bills, potential vet bills and pricey insurance before applying for adoption.

I like Reg! Would love a St Bernard but they're quite expensive vet-wise and food-wise, and have a depressingly short lifespan. And of course there's the issue of an adopted one potentially pulling on lead... :P

    Keeper of the hens

Mia is a 3 month old GSD female pup who is currently living in a multi-dog household and is young enough to live with cats. She will need training and plenty of exercise as she grows.

Minnie (nicknamed Skinny Minnie) is a 9 week old female Staffy cross pup, who was found emaciated and roaming the streets. She is currently living with other dogs, cats, and kids and is good with all. She needs to go to a loving home where people will be around most the time to help with the usual puppy mischievousness, and who will commit to her socialisation and training.

If you are looking to own a Staffy for the first time, 2 year old Dougie is your man! He has great recall and is walked off-lead away from roads. He loves meeting people and other dogs, he is great with young children even babies, and is just gorgeous!

Branston is a beautiful male Staffy cross aged 3 years old, and who came into rescue when he was a 5 month old pup. He was rehomed but handed back through no fault of his own (child's allergies). He is a bit of a star boy; energetic, fantastic with other dogs, has good recall, and travels well in the car. (video of him playing with the other foster dog)

Micha is a 1 year old cross-breed boy. He is VERY dog friendly and must live with a doggy companion. He is good with people, but may need a little more time to get used to the lead as he hasn't seen one before - he is very clever though!

    Keeper of the hens

Natalie is a 7 month old Patterdale Terrier girl who would ideally be rehomed with another dog as she loves their company! She's a playful girl who has never learnt any life skills, but has now 95% mastered housetraining, and chews toys when reminded! She is good with people (including kids) and other dogs.

Izzy is a beautiful Sharpei x Labrador girl who I'd love to have if it were possible! She is 2 years old and thinks everything was put on this earth for her to love and play with! She has great recall, is fine around food and can live with kids and other dogs.

Buddy is an 8 - 10 months old JRT (cross Staffy or Min Pin I think) boy who is full of beans! He loves play times and walks, especially chasing squirrels, and is good with other dogs and children.

Zack is a three year old cross-breed who really needs an understanding family to offer him the life he's never had. He has scarring around his muzzle from where his mouth was tightly tied shut, and for some reason the hair here has grown back white. Because of past abuse he is scared of new people, especially men, and can be vocal towards them. However this shouldn't put people off, all he needs are slow careful introductions with treats - Kasper's proof of that! Zack has been returned twice now and he is fab; he has good recall, is dog friendly and crate trained.

Curly is a 7 month old Patterdale Terrier looking for a new home. He is great with young children and other dogs, is crate trained and almost fully housetrained.

Oh poor Zack. How sad is that? And to have a constant reminder across his muzzle - I wonder if people think he is still tied up? I thought he was when I first saw the picture. There is a cat at rehoming that is pretty scared of people too - he was beaten with a broomstick and thrown over a 6' wall. Was in a terrible condition when first brought in but is slowly recovering.

Molly is a 2 year old Great Dane cross who was found tied up in a parking lot by a scarf just before Christmas, showing signs that she had just given birth to puppies. However they were never found. Molly loves people and other dogs, and kennel staff have never heard her bark!

Scooby is a male 9 month old Collie pup. He is a friendly boy although doesn't like being grabbed by his collar, so possibly shouldn't live with children. He loves other dogs and seems okay with cats too.

Lots of Staffy and Staffy cross Collie pups ready for new homes! All good with other dogs and young enough to be introduced to kids and cats. Collie x Staffies first with mum, then Staffy crosses...

Dennis is a 9 month old Collie cross pup who came in because his owners didn't have the time to give him the exercise and attention he neesd. He can be a little timid at first but soon comes out of his shell. He walks well on the lead, is housetrained, and has lived with cats and likes other dogs.

Mosh has come in with the rest of his littermates as they wouldn't sell. He is a 9 week old Doberman cross, and is a very happy playful boy! He needs a family prepared to cope with puppy energy, to train and socialise him. He can live with other dogs and be introduced to cats and children.

Carmel is Mosh's sister, and is the most outgoing of the puppies. She loves a good game of chase and would love to be rehomed with another dog/dogs as she loves caning play and company.

Treala is a 20 month old Rottie girl who is gorgeous in looks and personality. She is quite obedient, can be left for up to 4 hours, and can live with kids and other dogs.

Digby is a 3.5 year old male Setter x Retriever. He came into rescue from Ireland with his brother who has now found a home; they were found tied in a field being fed on horse poo, and were very malnourished. Digby is fine with cats.

Oscar is a 7 year old male Collie cross who is housetrained, obedient and calm. He is in foster in a multi-dog household and is good with other dogs. He can live with older children purely because he is energetic.

Cookie is a 5 - 6 Staffy boy who still looks very much a puppy! He is good with other dogs, kids and cats, and needs a home that will continue this socialisation into adulthood and beyond! He loves his play and walks.

Harriet is a very confusing dog, as although what you are seeing is a fawn pug, she has the instinct and personality of a JRT! She is a 2 year old Pug x JRT, bought as a 'designer' dog breed by owners who weren't expecting her high energy needs! She is being assessed with other dogs and seems fine so far.

Ice is a 4 month old male Staffy pup who came into rescue as an unwanted christmas gift. He loves all he meets, whether that be human or canine! He needs continued socialisation throughout his life so he stays happy and friendly, and a family that is ready for the energy it takes to raise a puppy properly!

8 8-week-old Boxer x GSD puppies are looking for forever homes with families ready for the time and patience needed in raising a puppy! These pups are the result of an accidental mating at a breeding kennel

Lumis is a 10 month old Whippet cross. He was found tied to a gate with his little feet all cut up. He is quite timid but with patience and love he will come around quickly.

Rhys is a 1-2 year old JRT cross. He loves people and is happy to play with other dogs. He walks well on the lead and could live with another dog.

Sam is a 17 month old BC x Springer who I think I've put here before but has been returned :( He is very high energy and will need at least two hours' off-lead exercise a day, plus extra training and play. He is good with other dogs and would love to live with one, and can live with older children only because he is so bouncy and clumsy.

Mya is an 18 month old Husky x GSD girl and very high energy! She hasn't had a good start in life and so is quite nervous, but with people and places she knows she is happy and playful. She is great with other dogs, kids and cats, and is very clever. She knows quite a few commands and her recall is coming along.

William is THE perfect dog! He is a 1-2 year old Staffy boy who loves other dogs, cats and any human! He has lived in foster since last September and has shared the foster home with many other dogs, and is currently living with six.

Clyde is a 2 year old Springer x Collie who was once a much loved pet but has somehow ended up in rescue. He is very active and loves his walks, and has been good with other dogs so far. He walks well on the lead.

Erin is a 4 month old Staffy cross, possible Staffy x Lab girl. She really needs a loving home, the best home ever, after her horrible start in life. She was found tied to a tree on a freezing cold night with such a bad eye injury it has now had to be removed. She is recovering well and is a lovely sweet puppy. She is good with kids and other cats and young enough to intro to cats.

    Keeper of the hens

Tiny is an 18 month old DDB boy, who in the past week has been passed around 3 times!! He is absolutely gorgeous, and has been handed in as his original owner had trouble with her pregnancy. He is good with other dogs and children, travels well in the car, but should go to a home that has large breed experience.

Bailey is a 1 year old Springer boy who was found abandoned in Ireland, covered in sores. He is pretty much recovered now, very handsome, and looking for an energetic new owner! He can live with older children and is good with other dogs, but will need lots of exercise.

Meg is a 2 - 3 year old Springer girl who was found abandoned. She is good with other dogs and kids but, as she would prefer a quieter home, she should live as an only dog and with older children only. She walks well on the lead and would be a fab companion, she loves her walks!

Charlie is a 5 month old Collie x possibly Retriever. His owner doesn't have the time for him anymore, so he needs a committed home where the owner is ready for a playful pup that still has a fair bit to learn! He loves other dogs and is a very happy puppy.

Summer is a 5 - 6 month old Collie cross. She is good with people and other dogs, and will be going into foster with children and cats. She needs a patient owner ready to bring up an energetic puppy.

Lily-Mae is a 2 year old Staffy girl who LOVES people, children and other dogs. She is happy to see and play with everybody. She has a wonderful Staffy smile and travels well in the car.

    Keeper of the hens

Dexter is a 2 year old Rottie cross boy, possible cross Collie. He is cat friendly as you can see  can live with children and is generally a friendly loveable boy. He is housetrained and has good recall.

Pippin is a 10 month old Staffy cross boy. This pup needs very special owners who are willing to look past the fact that he has previously been abused; as a result he is nervous with strangers and needs gentle socialisation. He adores other dogs and loves to play with them. He also has good recall.

Bob is a cute 8 month old male Staffy cross pup. He was found abandoned and straying, and nobody can work out why. He is loves other dogs and all people, and behaves well out on walks.

Niku is a beautiful male 9 year old Cocker Spaniel. His owner has sadly passed away and Niku is desperately wanting a new home to enjoy his retirement in. He is very friendly, calm and loves to go out for walks. He walks well on the lead and is good with other dogs - in fact he would love to live with another calm dog as he is used to being left with another dog for company.

Jenson is a 2 year old Staffy cross boy who was found abandoned tied up in a park. He adores playing with other dogs, likes to say hello to people and enjoys a good game of fetch!

Polly (left) is a 10 month old female Staffy cross, and Baz (right) is a 9 year old male Staffy. Although pictured together they don't have to be rehomed together, I think they're just at the same rescue. They are both good with other dogs. Polly will need plenty of exercise, training and play!

    Keeper of the hens

Tess is a beautiful 15 week old Collie x Staffy girl, and even though she is just a baby she has already been handed in to the police station after being found straying. She is very playful and is in foster with six other dogs with no problems. She wasn't housetrained when she arrived, but she has picked it up very quickly and just has the rare accident now. She has been crate trained and is a wonderful pup, as mischievous as any other, just looking for a happy, fun-loving home to call her own!

Scamp is a gorgeous 14 week old GSD cross, possibly Boxer. He is in foster so learning what life in a home is all about, and is good with dogs, kids and young enough to be introduced to cats.

Harold is a young 18 - 24 month old Mastiff cross boy who is just a cuddly young pup! He does try to be a lap dog he is so loving, and adores all people and dogs. He isn't good with cats and should be homed with children no younger than 12 because of his size!

Sprout and Pudding are 8 week old Lurcher pups who were born in rescue on Christmas Day. They are now ready to find a home of their own, and can live with other dogs and be introduced to cats. The family should appreciate the big commitment that adopting a dog is, especially a young mischievous puppy!

Casper is an 18 month old male Boxer cross, probably Staffy. He has been in rescue quite a while and really deserves a new home. He is great with people, especially children, and is good with other dogs too. He is house trained, fine to be left, travels well in the car and would probably be best as an only dog so he could soak up all the fuss!

    Keeper of the hens

Billy is an absolutely adorable male Rottie cross - look at that face!! He was found abandoned in a flat in horrible conditions, and was emaciated. Billy is lovely; boisterous and playful, and has shown no aggression to other dogs so far.

Patch (white with brindle patch) and Bailey (tan) are Staffy x American Bulldog brothers who are just lovely. They are 1 year old so are lively and playful; they adore playing with other dogs and are very people-friendly! Both walk well on the lead.

Ice is a 1 year old Staffy boy, who's full name is Icecream! He has had a bad start to life, so he needs a home that will make sure he only receives kindness, and isn't shouted at or punished. He is slightly nervous with new people, but willing to try make friends, and enjoys the company of other dogs.

Ozzie is a 13 month old Staffy boy who is just perfect! He is in foster with 14 other dogs ranging in size from Terriers to Mastiffs and Rotties! He gets along with them all, and the children (aged 8 weeks - 8 years old) and the chickens, horses and cats!! He loves everyone and everything, and needs a positive family to give him the exercise and training he needs.

Diesel is a 12 month old Collie cross Staffy boy who needs a very special home. He's a lovely pup, but nobody is willing to give him a home as he has glaucoma, which may start to affect his eyesight in a few years' time and will eventually cause him to go blind.

Tilly is a 5 month old Collie girl who really needs a home of her own. She is very young and very energetic, so will need a family willing to do reward based training with her and to offer her lots of mental stimulation and exercise. She is good with other dogs and cats.

    Keeper of the hens

Jessie is a gorgeous 5 month old Staffy pup. She's very sweet, playfull, confident and happily living with a large group of dogs in foster. Jessie can live with other dogs, kids over 5 and can be introduced to cats. She needs a family ready for the hardwork and responsibility of puppyhood!

Casey is a 5 year old Rottie x Mastiff cross Staffy girl and she really is lovely! She loves to play and has an outgoing nature. She can live with older kids purely because of her size, and loves canine company!

Tigger is a 1 year old Staffy boy who came from horrible conditions. His old owners didn't feed him, instead saved their money until they had enough to put him to sleep! Thankfully the vet saved him, and he has now gained weight and ready for a new home! He can live with young children and is fine with other dogs.

Roxy is a 16 week old Staffy x Lab puppy. She is looking for a fun, active home where someone is around most of the day. She is good with children, young enough to be introduced to cats and loves to play with other dogs.

Charlie is an adorable 7 month old Springer Spaniel pup. He needs a very active home where he can get plenty of exercise, and he does have good recall off-lead. He does pull lots on-lead though and will need training for this! He is fine with other dogs and kids, if a bit bouncy, but shouldn't be homed with cats or small furries. He isn't aggressive, just VERY VERY interested in them!!

Oh, I'd love this girl! She's like my dream second dog, and she's gorgeous! :)

Her name is chance, and she is a 12 month old cross-breed, a real Heinz 57! Probably has some Staff, Mastiff or Rottie in her...? Maybe even Lab. She adores people, is great with other dogs, is housetrained and non-destructive. She is good on lead and has fine recall when off-lead.

    Ah, I would love her!!

    Keeper of the hens

Whisper is a 1 year old male Staffy boy. He was due to be PTS when he was thankfully rescued and put into foster. He was seriously underweight and covered in sores, which have now healed and he is gaining weight. He loves playing with other dogs and cuddles. He does still get scared of new situations but is handling everything very well.

Luna is a 14 month old Staffy girl, and one of those dogs that if I could adopt another right now, it would be her! She is deaf, but don't let this put you off as she is intelligent and will easily learn what hand signals mean. She adores playing with other dogs and living with another could well help and act as her ears!!

Cooper is a 10 month old crossbreed dog with some Staffy in him and who knows what else. He is friendly and energetic, likes playing with other dogs and could live with another. He is still young and does need further training; he is a bouncy energetic boy who will enjoy lots of play!

Tiny is a 7 year old male Rottie with a very sad story. His owners that have had him since he was a puppy have turned him into rescue because they want to get a puppy and, as Tiny didn't have any socialisation when he was young, he doesn't like other dogs. This is a dog that, thanks to the owners not doing what they should have done when he was young, will probably be difficult to rehome. He doesn't like other dogs, cats or children, and he does have some stiffness because of his age. He's looking for an understanding family who will love him for who he is. He might be called Tiny but he has a massive heart!

Poppy is another little girl on my wish list. She is a 12 month old Staffy girl who is lively and bouncy, a very energetic and happy-go-lucky girl! She is fantastic around other dogs and also seems to love every other animal put on this earth, including cats! Her only negatives are that she pulls on lead and gets bored quickly so will need to be left with mental stimulation toys or crate trained.

Delilah is another crossbreed girl of 12 months old, and another I would love to have as my own! She loves the great outdoors, enjoys the company of other dogs and is also good with cats. She is an obedient girl who is eager to please, and I think she's beautiful. She is a large girl but could live with children over 10 and another doggy friend.

    Keeper of the hens

Coco is a friendly 2 year old GSD girl. She plays really well with other dogs, including two disabled JRTs, and is friendly with all people. Recall hasn't been tested yet but is expected to be perfect!

Troy is a gorgeous young 18 - 24 month old Staffy x American Bulldog. He adores people and loves to play with other dogs. He can live with a female canine friend and children over 10, simply because of his size.

Bracken is a 5 month old Collie x Springer boy. He is in foster with other dogs and cats, and is fine with people too. He is very very energetic and will need a home willing to put up with his mad puppy moments and put some time into training him too.

Betty is a 2 year old Staffy x Boxer girl and is just great. She could easily live with a male dog and is sociable with all dogs when out and about. She adores children but can't live with young children as in her rush to love them she often knocks them over! She is house trained and isn't destructive when left.

Curley is a 10 month old male Collie x Springer, and needs a home that recognises he needs lots of walking and play and is willing to give him it! He does have some basic training, but will need a little more. He is sociable with other dogs and can live with older children.

Lucky is a 2 - 4 year old Bichon Frise girl. She has been very lucky indeed as was rescued from drowning in a river! She came in with very long matted fur, which became water logged in the water and was pulling her down. She is now in rescue and was initially scared of everything, but seems to be gaining confidence.

Sally is an 8 month old female Springer x Collie girl. She was handed in as her owners couldn't provide her with the exercise and stimulation she needed. Sally is a fun playful girl who has begun basic training in foster such as lead and recall work. She is also being crate trained. She is good with children and can live with them aged 6+ and is good with other dogs too.

There were almost as many Collie x Springers on the site as there were Staffies today...I guess that's what you get when you get a 'designer' dog from a back-yard-breeder who promises they will be a good family dog...
